    Helping the poor?

if individuals started doing what they are clamoring for the "church" to do, a lot more could be accomplished. Helping doesn't always need to be on a grand scale...

    "And this gospel"

"In that He says, ‘A new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews) The "first" covenant is the Sinai Covenant. That Covenant was written on stones. That Covenant was the Ten Commands. The whole sacrificial system was the REMEDY for individuals who broke the Covenant. Under the "New Covenant" we have a "better" remedy - a "better sacrifice". The ONE True Sacrifice forever. We have a better High Priest. I differ with the Messianic and Hebrew Roots teachers, who say that we are under a renewed Covenant NOT a New Covenant. Paul called the first covenant "the ministry of death written on stones". The Sinai Covenant was a marriage covenant. The LORD divorced the 10 tribes for adultery. He kept the 2 southern tribes - so that He could be "born under the law" (born under that first covenant). Finally the "husband" died on a cross. When the husband dies, the wife is free from the law concerning her husband. (Rom. ) We are now betrothed to Jesus Christ by a NEW Marriage Covenant. Are the 10 Commands continued in the New Marriage Covenant? Yes! Every one is repeated in the NT, except the Sabbath command. But that one is described in Isa. 66:22-23. The 10 Commands describe the behavior of the wife. Would not the risen husband desire the same behavior from His bride? Love the LORD your God with all your heart and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. The New Covenant is different, in that the LORD will write His Law on our heart. Jeremiah 31:31-33 “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah-- not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” There are several studies at my website on the Law. Conspiracy= a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful, the action of plotting or conspiring. IMHO Wiki-leaks proved that governments lie and lie all the time to serve their own interests. I have a hard time believing many of the official explanations we are given about many things. There is an issue brewing in the Uk about a pedophile ring involving top ranking politicians. I dismissed it as a conspiracy theory 20 years ago but now there is a government inquiry. The wickedness the exists in our governments and political circles is too stunning to believe. Google: Cyril smith MP, Jimmy Saville, Elm Guest House. Ephesians 6:12 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places

    Helping the poor?

These were individuals making the call, not the .org. When we as individuals render to whatever the need is, the church is doing its duty because 'we' are the church. The 'church' is not shrugging it off, as all the churches I have been a part of, have organized programs as well. All the .org programs can only have so much success, it is up to us, as individuals, to take up the command of Christ.

    Warning: Pun Ahead

Some friars needed to raise more money for books for the school, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds. Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition was unfair. He asked the good brothers to close down, but they would not. He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him.So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to "persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop. Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that "Only Hugh can prevent florist friars."

  9. I'm sorry that I do not understand what that post was trying to say. I've been getting comments that it does not need to be clarified so I am just going to say thank you for trying to share and I'm sorry that you don't want me to understand. I hope others are understanding better what the author is trying to say than I am. I am sad that I am missing the point.

:reyes: Can we set up the conspiracy forum again? Let those who look for such and believe congregate together while reality passes them by!!!

How is that a sad response? Often those accusing the "church" of not doing anything are attempting to evade their own responsibility as Christians by laying their own personal duty off on the church. As rudywoofs said, if we all would personally do our duty as Christians the "church" would be doing it's duty.

Members of the nominationg committee have been told which of their institutions would receive considerable financial support if they would nominate x. If they would nominate y the financial support would go elsewhere. Is that letting Mammon rule rather than the Holy Spirit?
