Is there a conservative on this board that is willing and able to outline a strategy for dealing with Isis that is significantly different from the current administration's strategy? It can take the form of several bullet points to keep it simple.

There's been some debate here regarding the need for "men's" groups -- and I think it's a valid need. The issue I have with some of the groups, especially those like the "AVoiceForMen" website, is that there is SO much rhetoric (dare I say, "whining"?) against women. But that's not what this thread is about. A long-time friend who is also a Baptist pastor recently shared the concept of one of his favorite men's study groups, "The Knight's Code." The group is strictly for men and has a very God-centered, Christian focus. It's not a group for the commiserating on a war against the perceived threat of "feminism"; rather, the group uses the four tenets of "The Knight's Code" to address secular issues facing Christian men. Here's the explanation of the Knight's Code from the website http://theknightscode.com/ : While I'm not a man, and I've only read excerpts from "The Knight's Code" book, it certainly seems like a great alternative for men, compared to waging war on the feminist movement.

While the masses fuss and fight over the rhetorical difference between the parties the elites of both sides know where the truth lies. Conservative website Newsmax has pledged a very large donation to the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, a new report in the Wall Street Journal states. "Newsmax, a conservative news organization, last year pledged $1 million to the Clinton Foundation over a five-year period, according to a spokesman for Chris Ruddy, the organization’s CEO. Mr. Ruddy has been friends with the Clintons since 2007," reports the Journal. "Through a spokesman, he said the donation wasn't tantamount to an endorsement of Mrs. Clinton’s potential campaign, though he thinks she would 'make a great presidential candidate.'" Ruddy himself has even written a blog post for the Clinton Foundation website. The topic? "Public-Private Partnerships Advance Health Care in Mozambique." "Christopher Ruddy is a noted journalist and entrepreneur. He currently serves as CEO and President of Newsmax Media, one of the nation's leading online news media companies. In 1998, Chris founded Newsmax Media, a multimedia publishing company that publishes online and offline content in the fields of news, politics, health and finance. Newsmax.com is consistently ranked as one of the country's most trafficked news websites," reads his bio on the foundation's website.

A lot of discussion has taken place in this forum that has been related to whether or not SDAs should be involved in having services on Sunday, especially in the morning. I would like to place this issue in another perspective: Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries (ACM) is a Department in the General Conference and is now leading toward the formation of a Department in the North American Division. As such it supervises SDA Clergy who are serving as chaplains, some of which are in SDA institutions, but many are in governmental and private, non-SDA positions. In the United States, all chaplains who work for the Federal government can only be hired with the permission of the endorsing denomination, which for us is ACM. In addition, once hired, they can remain employed by the Federal government only as long as the endorsing denomination (ACM) agrees. ACM, as required, only endorses SDA Clergy who are fully qualified by the denomination to act as SDA clergy. Presently, ACM, in the NAD, has female as well as male chaplains serving in Federal and other positions. IOW, we have female military chaplains. On the world-wide level, ACM currently endorses more than 500 SDA Clergy for service as chaplains. In the 50 years of service that I have given to the United States and to the SDA Church, during the 40 years or so that I have been a SDA Chaplain, my credentials have either come from the General Conference of from the North American Division. How does this relate to the question of Sunday services? To put it in a brief statement: On any Sunday, probably several hundred SDA Chaplains are conducting a worship service, most of which will be in the morning. They are doing this with the full knowledge and permission of the General Conference/NAD. During the majority of the time that I was a U. S. Army Chaplain I conducted Sunday morning services either on a rotating basis with a couple of other chaplains, or on an every Sunday morning. On Saturday mornings, when I had soldiers who were without their own transportation, I picked them up, took them to a SDA Church and brought them back to my home to spend a quiet Sabbath afternoon. Did I preach distinctive SDA doctrines? In every assignment, where I had a responsibility to preach, I spoke on the 3-angels messages of Revelation 14. Once, in Seoul, Korea, my assignment was to a Protestant congregation. That is all that I did. As congregational members said to me after a sermon I preached on the 7th day of the week being the Biblical Sabbath, You really challenged us today. Don't tell me that one can not preach distinctive SDA doctrines in a Protestant congregation on Sunday morning. I have done it. No, I could not in a congregational sermon tell the people that Protestants were going to go to hell because they worshiped on Sunday. But, that is not the core of our message. One can preach the truth of the Sabbath without telling other groups that they are going to hell. Folks, the SDA Denomination does not object to its pastors conducting services on Sunday. The Biblical position is a positive one for a 7th day Sabbath. There is nothing new in SDA Clergy conducting a Sunday service. That in itself is not in violation of the Biblical position. When I once preached, on Sunday morning, to a Methodist congregation, I preached on the primacy of the Word, the Bible and Christ's call to submit ourselves to whatever the Bible said and wherever it and the Holy Spirit led. I have been asked to come to other congregations, of other denominations and speak to their members about the beliefs and practices of Seventh-day Adventists. You can come here to CA and debate whether or not SDA Clergy should conduct services on Sunday. But, be aware that this is already being done and with the approval of ACM in the General Conference.

The Sinai covenant “gives birth to bondage.” The Jerusalem of Paul’s day was “in bondage” - because they were still laboring under the Sinai covenant, and had not accepted the New Covenant - with the Spirit.

I am curious to know if Adventist doctors are required by law to swear by this oath? Romans 8: 9-10 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. The above verse equates the Spirit of God with the Spirit of Christ. If you have the Spirit of God you have the Spirit of Christ because they are one in the same.

Not sure he means that kind of hope! I believe he means the hope we have in Jesus. We all will die, but those that have the hope in Jesus, that we will be resurrected in the first resurrection.

This has been a growing concern of mine for a while. ISIS will eventually undertake a devastating attack on a U.S interest, or Western European country. When they do, who do you think Muslims will side with - their faith (which calls for subjection or death to Christians or Jews), or the country in which they reside? No matter which way they go, the world is in for a rough ride. Do we, as believers in YHVH rather than Allah (they are not the same) rise up and fight, or do we trust in the Lord to fight for us? Those of you who are interested should look at eschatology with a point of view that Islam will bring in the Antichrist rather than the papacy. The typology is incredible. That being said, as subjects of the Messiah, we know how the story ends. We who overcome by the blood of the Lamb will live happily ever after. I am at a quandary at this point at what the Messiah would want us to do other than preach the Gospel and remain faithful to God as our witness to the world.

I would feel uneasy if the President's entire strategy is really publicly known...

Only "Bread and water"? Not very nutritious. The expression may just be a metaphor for the basic necessities.

Heard on the news tonight that Lesley Gore died. She sang songs like "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to." In 1988 went to a fire works show for the 4th of July in a town near Andrews and she was there singing.

Our city has a few French immersion schools, one secondary French immersion school. There are pockets of francophone settlements in places other than Quebec. Manitoba has many French-speaking people in it; New Brunswick french (think Roch Voisine) is some of the best I have heard. In "best" I mean that the dialect is not as difficult to make out, say, as some parts of Quebec. Roch Voisine speaks both languages without an accent in either. West coast people, especially Vancouverites, are pretty laid-back and friendly. Not long ago I heard an interesting comment, in a French interview on the radio, that stated that it was very difficult to meet a potential mate in the Vancouver area. I can envision that. The people are friendly but not gregarious. They are content to live and let live, I guess.

The Adventist Universicy is in Lacome, Alberta, Canada called Canadian University College. Each Province has a Conference Office except the Maritimes where the office is in Moncton New Brunswick.for NB, NS and PEI The Canadian Union Conference is in Oshawa Ontario, as well as the Ontario Conference just down the street from the Union office. B C has a very English/British bent but you can hardly tall the difference in their dialect unless they are actually from Britain. The south of all the provinces have leafy trees, I don't think anybody has counted them, but there is a TREE LINE north of which there are actually no trees growing at all because of the climate. There are plenty of fish eaters in Nova Scotia but I know some vegans who live there. There are teriffic grocery stores in the maritimes which supply everything you could want including fish. Calgary is in Alberta which is the Canadian Texas you could say. It is famous for the rodeo called the Calgary Stampede and goes for a couple weeks in the summer. They have Bull riding and Chuck Wagon races and Calf roping contests, and wear cowboy hats. All provinces do have a french class in grade school and optional in high school. THere are all french schools where there is enough french population to support one, and there are also french emersion schools scattered throughout the country, my granddaughter goes to one that teaches french half the day and english the other half. in Ottawa, the capitol of Canada I might add that this is flag day here, which is the anniversarty that our current Canadian flag was voted in with a red maple leaf in the centre and red strips at each side on a white background.

There is an Ebola outbreak happening in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia right now. The latest I've heard is that a patient was located in Nigeria, so now that country is involved. Ebola is VERY deadly as far as viruses go. I thought that the mortality rate is 60% but if a person does not get treatment it could be higher. The problems the foreign medical people were having is that the population suffers from lack of information. They believed that if their loved one went to hospital s/he wouldn't come out, that it was a death sentence. Others didn't want to give up the dead bodies, preferring that families handle their own dead. And that has led to the spread of the plague. My daughter-in-law through her non-profit was able to distribute 3500 * information packets through her staff, who are locals and are trusted. She is still working on this. But she has asked for prayer for her and Kevin's friends who are still in the country. Some are with Samaritan's Purse, who Kev used to work for. They are very concerned at this point. I've read that the head doctor working with the Ebola patients has now come down with the disease.
