Joke of the Day
Margie and 2 others reacted to phkrause for a topic
A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."3 points -

The Orion Message
Vitezhish and one other reacted to jbal7 for a topic
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I wasn't too sure whether or not this was the appropriate section to post this question or not. I am curious if anyone else has read this article, The Orion Message on the close of probation and end times. At first glance it seems skeptical but I'm drawn to it because the author is an Adventist and he uses a lot of EGW and the Bible so I wonder if he's onto something. I'll admit, I'm not as well versed in EGW and Bible prophesy as I'd like to be so a great deal of what he says confuses me. Its pretty lengthy but what he says is that probation for the dead ended in 2012 and probation for the living ends in October 2015. So...2015! well that's this year! So I'm pretty interested in this and am studying it. Just wondering if anyone else has too or has comments. Thanks in advance. Daily Lift by Rabbi Zelig Pliskin

Determination to be Joyful Today We live one day at a time. To make joy easier to attain, decide to be joyful just for today. Tomorrow you can be determined to make that day joyful. But today you only need to decide for today. Everyone would like to be joyful, but not everyone is willing to do all that they could to actually create daily joy. In general, the more determined you are to reach a goal, the more time and effort you are willing to invest. Since you are reading this book, you are already showing a strong interest in increasing your joy. Some people argue, “I’m just not the determined type. I start many things but don’t follow through. If something seems like too much effort, I give up right at the beginning.” When something is truly important to you, you will have much more determination than usual. This is especially true when you greatly enjoy doing what you are determined to do. Obama's regs will make Internet slow as in Europe, warn FCC, FEC commissioners

Obama's regs will make Internet slow as in Europe, warn FCC, FEC commissioners BY PAUL BEDARD | FEBRUARY 23, 2015 | 2:14 PM As the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Election Commission toy with regulating aspects of the Internet, critics on those agencies are warning that speed and freedom of speech are in jeopardy. In a joint column, Federal Communications Commission member Ajit Pai and Federal Election Commission member Lee Goodman, leveled the boom on the Obama-favored regulations, essentially charging that it will muck up the freedom the nation has come to expect from the Internet. In one key passage of the column published in Politico, the duo wrote Monday that heavy-handed FCC regulations like those imposed in Europe will significantly slow down Internet speech. “These Internet regulations will deter broadband deployment, depress network investment and slow broadband speeds. How do we know? Compare Europe, which has long had utility-style regulations, with the United States, which has embraced a light-touch regulatory model. Broadband speeds in the United States, both wired and wireless, are significantly faster than those in Europe. Broadband investment in the United States is several multiples that of Europe. And broadband’s reach is much wider in the United States, despite its much lower population density,” the two wrote. They also joined to warn about the Democrat-chaired Federal Election Commission eyeing regulation of political speech on the Internet. Noting recent votes on the issue that ended in a political deadlock, the two wrote, “these close votes and the risk of idiosyncratic case-by-case enforcement inevitably discourage citizens and groups from speaking freely online about politics.” Bottom line, they warned: “Internet freedom works. It is difficult to imagine where we would be today had the government micromanaged the Internet for the past two decades as it does Amtrak and the U.S. Postal Service. Neither of us wants to find out where the Internet will be two decades from now if the federal government tightens its regulatory grip. We don’t need to shift control of the Internet to bureaucracies in Washington. Let’s leave the power where it belongs — with the American people. When it comes to Americans’ ability to access online content or offer political speech online, there isn’t anything broken for the government to “fix.” To paraphrase President Ronald Reagan, Internet regulation isn’t the solution to a problem. Internet regulation is the problem.”1 point -

An interesting article from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on where the church stands on issues concerning gay and lesbian people within the LDS church. Does not seem all that different from Seventh-day Adventist media on the same subject? http://mormonsandgays.org/1 point -
I`ve Been Thinking

Adam had to offer a lamb. Did he build an altar? The picture we see of Cain's offering is on square grey dull stones. I've been thinking, those stones we are used to are from flood results, In Eden stones were gold, silver, emierald, opal, saphire etc. I think IF they did build an altar it would have been stunning, and I doubt if they were square.1 point -
Circumstances and the Bible
Vitezhish reacted to news for a topic
Continuing a series on the Bible, ordination, and the upcoming General Conference in San Antonio. Let me share some examples of how the principle of “circumstances alter cases” can be seen in the Bible. In Genesis 17 God offers Abraham an “everlasting covenant” (Gen 17:7). That sounds pretty permanent. This everlasting covenant would be for […] The post Circumstances and the Bible appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. View the full article1 point -
God did not have a begotten Son prior to the birth of Jesus...
JoeMo reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
If one cell simply divided, so that neither of the two resulting cells (Divine Beings) existed "first", then why call one "Father" and the other "Son? ? Why was the Son subordinate to the Father - always? Creation was the Father's will, and the Son carried out that will. The Father "is the head of Christ" and always has been. Why did the Father have the authority, and the Son "received authority" ? Why - as the final act in the drama - after death itself is destroyed, will Christ be subject to His Father ? The Father will then be "all in all". "Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all." (1Co 15:28 NKJ) The Father's authority is original. The Son's authority is derived - from His Father. Jesus said, "I came forth from the Father" (Jn 16:28). I believe that He literally DID. John 3:13 "no one has ascended"
LifeHiscost reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
If Moses and Elijah were DEAD at the time of the transfiguration, then what was Jesus doing - talking with dead people!! That was a death penalty offense - according to the Law. And if this was simply a "vision" - then why did He take three witnesses with Him - Peter, James, and John. There is not an incidence in Scripture of four men, simultaneously having the SAME VISION. I think that Moses and Elijah were ALIVE - and are still alive.1 point
