I came across an interesting statement on a learn to speak hebrew page I found. The statement was that - "Jesus was and still is Jewish". Is that the case? clearly Jesus was raised and lived as a Jew and it is recognised that a person is Jewish if their mother, in this case Mary is Jewish. So, would it be reasonable to still regard Jesus Christ as still being Jewish?

In another thread it was mentioned that "God will protect us" in the time of trouble. Oh really? Tell that to the westerners who went to the Middle East for humanitarian reasons. Tell that to the Coptic Christians who were recently massacred. I'm becoming a skeptic in my old age. The people who praise God for keeping them safe "throughout the day and night," who thank Him for "saving them from not being injured in disasters," who give God the credit for "fixing the car" or "healing" an illness, must have some sort of "holiness factor" that not every Christian possesses. Otherwise, all loyal Christians would be "protected" and "blessed" by God. And it's quite obvious that they are not. So... what do you think is God's criteria for His gifts of protection and blessing? To me, it seems to be random..

Gerry, post # 3: Those are the questions that brought a generation of people to us in the past. Today, we face a generation of people who do not have a primary concern over those questions. (NOTE: I did not say that they were not concerned with those questions. I said that those questions are not their primary concern.) What are the issues of primary concern to this generation? I do not consider myself an expert qualified to answer. Rather, I consider that I am on the cusp of the answer and just at the elementary states of understanding. I am still learning. This generation is coming to us and getting answers to the questions that you raise, if they do not have such answers before they come to us. They are then leaving us if they do not find us attempting to provide them with answer to their primary questions. Life, post # 6: Personal study of the Word of God, the Bible, is critically important. People today are also looking to experience the Word of God, the Bible, in their lives today. Clarity is in the mind of the beholder. PK's (Preachers' Kids) have a LOT of stressors that they face as children....the primary one being that they are always under scrutiny, being measured by others in their behavior. Preachers seem to be the "star players" and "politicians" of religion, ergo, their children end up being the targets of the religious paparazzi. Michael leads the angels against "the Devil and his angels" (Rev. 12:7). Michael appears to be "commander" of the LORD's angels. The "man" who appeared to Joshua is "commander of the LORD's hosts" AND renders the ground "HOLY", so that Joshua is commanded to remove his shoes. Joshua worships this "man" and is NOT corrected. Another incident in which the ground was made "HOLY" by the presence of an "Angel": Exodus 3:2-6 “And the Angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of the burning bush:”(v.4). “God called to him out of the midst of the bush,”(v.5). “Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”(v.6). “I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” WHO appeared to Moses? Exodus 3:16 [Yehovah - speaking with Moses at the burning bush] “Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob,appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:” So - the "angel" of the LORD, tells Moses to say to the elders, "The LORD God of your fathers . . . appeared unto me..." Just because Michael is called a "messenger" does NOT absolutely mean He was a created being.

(Matt; 6:12-15) "Forgive and you will be forgiven." (Luke 6:37) Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matt. 18) "For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. " (2 Peter 2:20-21) The Soul Who Sins Shall Die. (Ezekiel 18) "But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! (James 2:18-19) The last 3 references appear to say that your "future" sins can be retained - you CAN lose the salvation you once had - especially due to unforgiveness. So much for "Once saved, always saved". Furthermore, just believing may not meet the criteria. Sounds like true faith WILL produce works (i.e., action speaks louder than words).

The word "atonement" means "reconciliation". 2 Corinthians 5:18 “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.” He has given us the ministry of atonement. This should tell us that we are priests. Only kings and priests were anointed with oil - which symbolized the Spirit. The fact that believers are anointed with the Spirit, should tell us that we will be "kings and priests". 1 Peter 2:5 "you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

Adar 8 Yahrtzeit of Levi Eshkol (1895-1969), the third prime minister of Israel. While you did not say it in this way, what you said looks to me like the following is what you believe: Anyone who spends time in prayerfull study of the Bible will believe the following 10 items exactly as I believe them! By the way, there are SDAs who believe exactly you do on all 10 of those items and have not been removed from membership. I will suggest that if you were to be removed, it would likely be for more reasons than you belief.

In a sense, yes, I agree with the others, Jesus is still Jewish. When He took on humanity, He took it upon Himself for eternity. The physical features He inherited through Mary are upon Him to this day, and Mary, with the others, will recognize Him when they see Him again. And even in terms of His personality, the life that He lived as a man in this world, had enduring, [i would say, eternal,] results. His incarnation effected Him for ever. But I would also say (not to negate what I've said thus far,) that Jesus was never really what might be termed "Jewish". In many ways He was a stranger among His people.
