Potomac ABC is the one I speak of. I am not sure if it can now claim the title of the largest, at least in terms of square footage of the store.At the time it opened in its current location it was perhaps. They have since subdivided their space by approximately half. The other half is now occupied by Staples. It is a busy shopping center with a Kohls, a large grocery story, a chain pet and pet supply store, a chain baby/toddler clothing and supply store, about 5 fast food places and gas station.

Ephesians 3:14-15 "For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named," (NKJ) So - if Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit, would that not make the Holy Spirit, the Father of Jesus? That SUGGESTS the "Holy Spirit" = God "the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ". He poured His spirit through His Son.

Well, Gregory- I have to share with you what happened to me today! Right near closing time I had a non-SDA customer in to look at our Bible selection. And he told me that the other (bigger, fancier) Christian bookstore in town had only 2 KJV bibles for him to choose from! He has been telling his friends that our store has a better selection of Bibles for studying, friendlier salespeople plus better prices How could I tell he was non-SDA? By his choices in study Bibles. He likes the Dake and ordered the Common Man's KJV, which I'm pretty sure is a privately published one. He also wanted a Bullinger's Companion. He was open-minded enough to have a look-see at our Academy Bible with Strong's numbers in the verses and noticed the EGW study notes. On my recommendation he also previewed the NET Bible and ended up purchasing it for $70. I really enjoyed our conversation... He had the most interesting things to say about what happened before Creation... I am hoping that he trusts our taste in versions that he will try one with the EGW notes. I really think he would be blessed. In the meantime I will try to get him his Bullinger's Companion and the Common Man's KJV. What is happening with him is that he studies the Bible with his roommates and says he butts heads with the people at his church because they with their NIVs bother him for preferring the King James. interesting!

I don't think it's so much about guilt as simply about perspective - and the avoidance of ignorance. It's when someone decides they are in a position to criticise others for something that it's as well to ensure that they are not guilty of the same thing. Some facets of Islam - small ones - are unquestionably violent today. Most factions of Christianity are not - unless, for example, American wars are taken to be Christian wars. I don't believe they are, but some of President Bush 43's rhetoric would disagree with me on that point. I think that the article Pam shared is important because it says, among other things, "The Crusaders were trying to win back land taken over by the Muslims". Some of the Muslim violence today is very much about trying to take back land taken over by Israel. In the end, it's not about guilt, it's about recognising our shared humanity. No race and no religion is unalloyed good or evil. Our motives are mixed, and the reasons we say we do things are not always the real reasons. Accidents of history and wealth and security mean different people are violent at different times, and that needs to be resisted, but no-one is in a position to say "it's them but never us". It's us. Us humans.

About the idea that Robert puts forth in the opening of this thread.... l agree that God must follow His own legal standard in the plan of salvation. Everything He does must do that. Why? Take a look at what He is accused of by the devil. His character is under attack so everything He does must be just or the devil could rightly point out His legal problems. That I agree with. I do not agree with what Robert posits as the answer. Study, for yourselves, what Ellen White calls the law of inheritance. In the Hebrew of the OT it is known as ga'al. It is the legal framework, put forth by God, that the plan of salvation is based upon. In it the closest relative of someone who has lost his/her inheritance, for any reason, can pay their debt and restore to them what is legally theirs. If you do a very careful word study using a tool such as Strong's Concordance on redeem, Redeemer, redeemed, etc... you will find that it is all based upon this concept. I spent months studying this from both the Bible and SOP and the evidence for this is overwhelming. There are literally hundreds of texts, and hundreds of SOP quotations, in support of this. Nothing need be taken out of context or even come close to being twisted in order to understand this. It's a fascinating study and I would recommend that you do it. Understand why Robert is wrong. Don't take my word for. Study this subject closely for yourself for truth and error start out nearly indistinguable but when you reach their logical ends they are miles apart.

The rest we have in Christ removes the meritorious mindset in all that we do. We don't honor the seventh day in order to be saved, we honor it because we are saved. This is why we are not to judge anyone in what they do on the Sabbath because it's not to be honored with a meritorious mindset.

From the context what then is God's rest? Notice that Paul links the gospel with "His rest"....Those who have believed the gospel enter God's rest. What does the birth, life, death & resurrection of Christ (the gospel) have to do with God resting? From what did God rest? When Christ cried out "it is finished" what did He mean? He meant that redemption was complete...that it was finished. It was perfect and therefore God's work of redemption "in Christ" was complete. The proof? He rested..... Now, if you believe that you can add nothing to God's perfect work in Christ then the Sabbath becomes a seal of justification by faith. By not laboring on the Sabbath you are outwardly stating that I can add nothing to God's completed work and all can do is rest in that finished and perfect work.

Here's why. Look at the issue just before Hebrews chapter 4: Heb 3:12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called"Today," so * that none * of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, 15 while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME." 16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did notall those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did Heswear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. So unbelief was Israel's problem in the wilderness. Paul now brings us to Israel in his time. Heb 4:1 Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed we have had the gospel preached to us, just as they also (the Jews of the Exodus); but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.3 For we who have believed enter that rest,....9 So there remains a Sabbath rest (i.e., a Sabbath keeping) for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Keep in mind that to Paul entering "His Rest" was believing the gospel. Paul links the gospel received by faith, or justification by faith, with the Sabbath. Weren't the Jews of Paul's day keeping the Sabbath. Yes, they were keeping the day, but their Sabbath keeping was meaningless because it was a sign of unbelief. How so? They kept the 4th commandment, and all the rules added, in order to be saved. They were not truly resting in God's rest. More later....
