Samie I'm still confused by what you're saying. The resurrected wicked will have already died once. If they are again wiped out by the 7 last plagues, that's death No. 2. If they are resurrected again at the end of the millenium, that's death No. 3. Suffice it to say I don't believe as you do.

In a youth class one Sabbath, I asked them what they would want to happen when they die. Would they want to go straight to Heaven? Would they want to reincarnate? Would they want to sleep? Would they want their essence to join the cloud of "collective consciousness"? Well - they debated the various choices for the 40 minutes. They liked the idea of reincarnation, until I told them that they would have to pay for any sins in this life by coming back as something lower - like a pig, or a cripple. They talked about going to Heaven, and then pestering the angels for any word of their loved ones left behind. Finally they decided that the best option would be sleep. So that it would seem only a moment, and it would all be over, and they WOULD be with Jesus. They liked the idea of sleep, because they did NOT LIKE the idea of someone they loved suffering continuing conscious torment in a place called "HELL". The LORD says "love me with all your heart, soul, and mind." I don't think I could "love" unreservedly, an all powerful Being that I thought capable of torturing me for 5 minutes - much less for eternity. That one is a crazy-maker! My mother always had a terrible time sleeping. She LONGED for a good nap. I think of her - finally having that GREAT NAP that she always wanted.

I envy all of you that have time to watch the news. I stay so busy I don't even have time to watch the weather forcast. If I don't check my weather ap on the Ipad, I won't even know when a storm is coming. Someday I will cherish a little couch time, with the socks off, watching FOXNews, MSNBC, Al Jazerra English or... CNN. When I see people arguing over which news source is best it reminds me of people arguing about which genre of music is best. Rock 'N Roll is evil. Country is OK. Jazz is of the devil. Gospel is wonderful but only if it doesn't have drums.

After fighting with my K-band sattelite for years, I finally bought a Roku 3 and WOW! Excellent reception. Of course, I have Time-Warner internet with a download speed of 56 mbps. It has all the Hope Channels in all the languages. It also has all the 3ABN channels. It also has SafeTV - That is right - SafeTV!!! My sattelite worked ok but I would lose reception on a cloudy day and the wind would knock it out of alignment about once a year. I would watch Hope and 3ABN on my computer but it would pause sometimes for long periods of time. Roku 3 also has a headphone jack in the remote which mutes the TV. That is very handy if others in the room don't want to hear your favorite peacher.

I've always thought of the "first" death as a type of death. It's physical death. A person can die physical death more than once. Like Lazarus, and Jarius Daughter, and Dorcas, and Eutychus, and the lad that Elisha raised. The "second death" is annihilation death. A person can only die that TYPE of death once. 'Cause there is no coming back from that TYPE of death.

Here we go with legalistic again. The Law is legal and it is narrow and that is a fact! That word came up in the 1800's for those who did not want to follow ELOHIM'S Commands. Is it legalist to break in your house, or if someone did not stop at the red light and hit you, or someone just take your money? We live in a nation that has laws are we not to follow them because they are too legalistic?? You only touch on one point but never the duty we are required to do Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear THE ELOHIM, and keep HIS Commandments; for this applies to every man. For THE ELOHIM shall bring every work into judgment, with all that is hidden, whether it is good, or whether it is evil. Ecc 12:13 Blessings!

Which says a lot about their opinion of the public, which is quite often true, in that people do not seem to care about the truth/validity of said article if it agrees with with their personal outlook on life. Truth is never as interesting!

While Ellen White was well known as a powerful speaker, few contemporary Adventists would be aware that from 1878 to 1910 there were 31 other women to whom the Church provided ministerial licences. While most were on the denominational payroll, at least one, dentist Dr Margaret Caro in Napier, New Zealand, was self-supporting. The Church was small back then and women held a higher proportion of ministerial and leadership/departmental roles at the time than in the decades following. Some of these lady pastors were particularly effective. Ellen Lane was an especially powerful preacher who drew large crowds. One Sabbath morning in Virginia her husband Elbert attracted only 35 people while the next day 650 came to hear Ellen preach. Lulu Wightman was licensed in 1898 and between 1895 and 1905 she planted 12 new churches in New York state. Then she and her husband, licensed in 1904, together raised up five more churches. In 1903, New York had 11 ministers and two Bible workers but 60 per cent of the new converts that year were won by the Wightmans and one Bible worker. Also very effective in her ministry was Jessie Weiss Curtis, whose reputation in 1927 as a preacher attracted press coverage, the reporter writing, “Coming from a radius of 20 miles, there have been as many as 110 automobile loads at a single service.” Ellen White, remembering that the first preacher to tell of a risen Christ was a woman, observed in the January 2, 1879 Review that “the refining, softening influence of Christian women is needed in the great work of preaching the truth”. In 1895 she recommended the ordination of some women to deaconess-related work, a suggestion soon implemented in the Ashfield church in Sydney by Pastors Corliss and McCullagh “by prayer and the laying on of hands”. Five years later this was repeated in the same church with Elder W C White officiating on that occasion. With the numbers of women pastors increasing in the early years of the Adventist Church it was inevitable the issue of ordination for them would come up for discussion. In 1881 the following resolution was offered to the General Conference session: “That females possessing the necessary qualification . . . may be set aside by ordination to the work of the Christian ministry.” Referred to the General Conference Committee for consideration, there is no record the matter was ever addressed. However, the important thing to note is that if Ellen White believed that it was theologically wrong to ordain women to ministry she would have said so at the time—and she did not. After her death, her former assistant, CC Crisler, responded to an enquiry by writing, “This is not suggesting, much less saying, that no women are fitted for such labor (sic), and that none should ever be ordained; it is simply saying that so far as my knowledge extends, Sister White never encouraged church officials to depart from the general customs of the Church in those matters” (italics supplied). The reality is that during her lifetime the formal ordination of women pastors to paid ministry was not a priority for Ellen White. Anthony: It has certainly taken some bravery on your part to share your story. I do not challenge it in any way. It is your experience and your life that you have shared. In my experience in the mental health field, I can say that all to often SDA clergy are not qualified to provide good care in the area of mental health. But, that is changing on some levels. As one who has worked closely with non-SDA clergy for almost 40 years, I can say that non-SDA clergy may not be well qualified. Some are and some are not. It was this background that led me to not go to a Seminary for my graduate work in psychology. As far as congregational members are concerned, I find a lot of poor understandings of mental health issues across all denominations. There have been times when I have been in a place to advise family members as to their need to obtain mental health services. I will simply say that it can be hard to find good qualified advisors to recommend. Just because one is licensed it does not mean that they are qualified to give good advice. I do not have an answer to the issues that you bring up. I am sorry.

What exactly would be the worst that would happen if women were ordained? That they would preach? That they would run the church business and head up board meetings? That they would have a salary comparable to a man's? Self? Is that to say that there are no men that consider a pastoral vocation that have self motivating their decision, that are ambitious?

And the situation is not limited to the Seventh-Day Adventist church...
