10 Lessons I've Learned About Marriage From Divorce

Sometimes nurturing the spiritual growth in our spouses requires self-denial on our part. Ultimately, as Shane mentioned, the person's happiness depend's on the person. But we can do much to make a heaven on earth. I appreciate your comment, Shane.

Dangers I see in Headship theology

The law of God is self sacrificing love/ self renouncing love. No more and no less. We may ask what this means so we have the two great principles; to love God supremely and our neighbor as ourselves. How do we do this? we get the 10 commandments. In the Exodus 20 version breaks into 3 thirds: The first third is 3 commandments telling us how to love God supremely. The last third is 6 commandments telling us how to love our neighbor as ourselves. The middle third is one commandment that tells us that the only way we can love God supremely and our neighbor as ourselves is by resting in a relationship with God. (the three thirds also corresponds to the 3 aspects of the trinity). The foundation of Seventh-day Adventism is that the law is the reflection of God's character. It is a reflection of his very nature. The foundation of sin is that God is a tyrant in imposing upon others a law that does not apply to himself. That the law is outside of him and that he is simply arbitrary that we all submit to him and to each other while he is alone at the top. God is the only self existent one and life only comes from him so we need to submit to him for life. However with in the trinity the law of self sacrificing love/self renouncing love is practiced. For the trinity their neighbors are the other members of the trinity. They all submit to each other and thus live in a righteousness by faith relationship with each other. Each relates to the other as the other is their head. God is NOT the papacy which is how Satan likes to picture the role of God and the rest of us. This new teaching "Headship Theology" is simply Roman Catholicism filtered through Calvinistic philosophy. Seventh-day Adventism is more Methodist, not Calvinistic. If headship theology is true then Mrs. White's thought is not true. We have no reason for being Seventh-day Adventists. Satan wins the great controversy and the Sabbath becomes nothing more than an arbitrary imposition.

    Appropriate Children's Story

Greetings all, This reminds me of a similiar story about children.Oh yes Luke 18;16-18. Jesus looked upon his time with children during His ministry as special time.He had strong words for critics. Though speaking about teaching Ellen White commented "It is the nicest work ever assumed by men and women to deal with youthful minds"

    Ecumenism,At What Cost

This is a true statement. Where most evangelicals and Charismatics fall short in their end-times understanding is that the some future antichrist will outlaw Christianity but not a single word of other religions e.g. Buddhism, Shintoism, New Age, etc! You see this in their movie productions, books and the like. It will only be a very small segment that don't tote the line, the line of ecumenicalism and tolerance and those who don't see the value of keeping a day (Sunday) as a civil need. I will even go far as saying that Sunday keeping churches who do not accept the practice of speaking in tongues will also be persecuted, not by civil authorities, but by Christianity. The pope will not care what religion you are, since when you reduce the lot of them, especially Christianity, are all spiritualist, have incorporated pagan festivals, New Age theories, and lastly, they do not see the sacredness of the 7 day Sabbath. They are all diverse, but all the same! They all share and have the same spirit leading. Interestingly, when driving home last week, I turned into Father Mich Pacwa S.J radio show on Catholic Radio. He had a caller call in about and wanted to know about speaking in tongues. The caller noted that some in her parish are now speaking in tongues and was wondering how God decides who receives this spiritual gift. My first assumption was that Pacwa was going to correct her by stating that the Catholic church does not condone speaking in tongue but instead, their once catholic position, but that the Catholic church is now becoming the largest Christian body to do so- he called it angelic speaking. I was floored. Of course this is the plan. When you have the entire Christian world claiming this supposed gift, even Catholics, their is confirmation in numbers. After all they all can't be wrong. This will be the glue that unifies them all. Yes, even Buddhist, New Agers, Taoist, Hindus speak in tongues. It's happening folks.

    I Am Speechless

Most of us posting here have differing perspectives and ideas, which isn't bad. It prevents us from following the wrong leader into the ditches on either side of the road. Every day I think about the Kingdom, hoping that I can understand it better and be worthy to become a member. Unfortunately, we are all transgressors, sometimes externally, sometimes internally. Our main business is to follow the LORD as best we can. What others think or do is far less important and probably none of our business, but a few kind words can go a very, very long way. Haven't had KFC for a very long time, but I did stop there a few times, mainly for the zingy coleslaw.

Can you Spot a Church Bully?

Bullying came up in a recent thread on ClubAdventist relative to pastors in the thread "How to Destroy Your Pastor." Pastor are one group of "victims" of bullying that have been studied and several books written about. I tend to be a bit behind in my SS lessons, but just yesterday came upon this from the April 16 lesson, "Ellen G. White wrote that these men, meaning Moses and Elijah, who had been “chosen above every angel around the throne, had come to commune with Jesus concerning the scenes of His suffering, and to comfort Him with the assurance of the sympathy of heaven. The hope of the world, the salvation of every human being, was the burden of their interview.”—The Desire of Ages, p. 425. Thus, even Jesus Himself, who had comforted so many others, sought solace and comfort for Himself. What should that tell us about how even the strongest spiritually among us, even our leaders, teachers, and guides, can at times need solace, encouragement, and help from others? In fact, whom do you know right now who could use solace, comfort, and encouragement?" Can you imagine the stress in the life of a pastor who endures this in a congregation to the point of just walking out on a congregation? Doesn't just happen in church or to the pastor. Unfortunately it is now one of the big topics in social issues.

    Prayers

Source of All Good James Martineau Source of all good! Day by day are thy blessings renewed to us; and again we come with thankful hearts to seek the sense of thy presence. O that we could be reborn like the morning, and our love rise as fresh as the dawn, and our obedience be as sure as the path of the sun. For even as we seek to commune with thee, shadows from our past dim the joy of our aspiration. We remember our thoughtless lives, our impatient tempers, our selfish aims; and yet we know that thou has neither made us blind like the creatures that have no sin, nor left us without holy guidance--thy still, small voice speaking in our inmost conscience and thine open word, having dwelt among us full of grace and truth, appealing to us to choose the better part. Take us now to serve thee in newness of spirit, and sweep away with a holy breath every dust of care, every trace of fear, every taint of an uncharitable mind.

God does not see colour, why should we?

When I was being trained to teach diversity to VA employees I learned a new thought: The U.S. is not a "melting pot." Such dismisses cultural differences. Rather the U.S. is a mince pie (or a salad) where the specific individual parts maintain their identity and all contribute to the flavor of the taste. NOTE: I became an instructor in diversity when I challenged those teaching it on the basis than none of their educators were white and male. They considered it and promptly asked me to join them.

Whatever was that person thinking as they put the caption to the picture? 1. Be a pride pack of terrorists to invade Alanta's SDA convention in July to get all to vote accordingly for pro-WO agenda? 2. Act as an united front for stopping the imigrants jumping the border without permission? 3. Be a team of courageous lion hearts for speaking out on RCC ecumenical agenda for making a one-church religious entity?

  19. Israeli Scientist Says Ancient Pottery Shard Supports History Stated in the Bible 22Apr, 2015by Warner Todd Huston Israeli scientists and researchers are carefully studying a shard of ancient pottery that they say would support historical claims made in the Bible. The team is researching the shard at Tel Aviv University. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported Wednesday that a Tel Aviv University team has been examining pieces of First Temple-era pots and vessels with ancient inscriptions scratched in. The ancient pot fragment is known as an ostracon. One of the inscriptions addressed events described in the biblical book of Jeremiah. Haaretz reported: Even more gripping is the tale told by perhaps the most known ostracon from the period, which was found in Lachish, the largest Judahite town after Jerusalem. In the dispatch, an official stationed outside the city reports to his commander on the fall of a nearby stronghold, saying that “we can see the signals from Lachish, but we no longer see Azekah.” Scholars have taken this as a confirmation of the biblical narrative of Jeremiah, which recounts that Azekah and Lachish were the last fortresses of Judah to fall before Jerusalem was besieged and destroyed by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II. The Israeli foreign ministry has noted that more than 100 ostraca written in Paleo-Hebrew script have been found in Arad in southern Israel, calling it “the largest and richest collection of inscriptions from the biblical period ever discovered in Israel.” Paleo-Hebrew was used in the ancient kingdoms of Judah and Israel.

Biggest problem with belief.net, they put a little paragraph of info and make you jump thru 10 pages of stuff to read everything. Everything in this link, as usual for belief.net, could have been put in to one short webpage. However, it was good info.

    Are we born justified?

Jesus is the light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world. The grace of Christ made life and even birth possible or the race would have died the moment sin entered the race. Because of that grace we are born with blessings abounding and life happening, and nature continued though everything experienced the touch of the curse of sin, and particularly our nature being bent to sin. We are born sinners, into a life with suffering present, into an atmosphere of mercy and grace, and given light. What we do with that light we do with our destiny whether we ever hear the gospel or not. But because of the light, when we experience the message of the Gospel we are able to recognize it and respond. and depending on what we have chosen in response to the light we have been given we either hate more light or love it. Problems come with true spiritual teaching, because those who have had it then reject it are usually the most developed in evil, because they had privileges to be closer to God and when you reject God your darkness becomes greater. The world cannot reject what is not made known. Pharaoh's heart was increasingly hardened because he increasingly rejected every demonstration of truth that exposed his spiritual errors. One by one his god's were proved to be powerless and nothing. The very god's he had been worshiping were exposed, and he still turned from God. The world will not becomes worthy of the last plagues until they reject more and more completely the light of heaven, which that cannot do until it is made known. So True believers who reveal the character of Christ will bring the condemnation of the world, when they reveal God and His love becomes completely rejected. Just as Christ exposed Satan and uprooted any sympathy for him in all the angel host's and inhabited universe. It is progressive because sin is deceptive, and God is on a timeline clearing up the misconceptions and lies and deception. Over time God is cleansing the universe of sin in a way that does not violate his creation and does not violate His eternal character. So in the timeline of an infant from birth to the end of their life God alone is able to weigh and measure their participation in life, His light, sin, and mercy, and where their destiny will be.
