When I hear the Story of Sodom!

Yes, because while Lot was a sinner and had besetting sins, Lot repented. It's the heart, the attitude that God looks at with all struggling sinners. A sinner who condones, yea practices known sin as a lifestyle cannot have God in his/her life. 1 John 3:8 "...the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from he beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him....." Again, John does not say the believer doesn't sin (whatever sin that may be). It states he doesn't condone it as a legitimate lifestyle. Gay men may fall back into sin, but then will not condone it if God's Spirit is present. They will repent...they will struggle, but they will never say "God made me this way" or "gay sex is okay". The same with heterosexuals. To excuse sin is to justify sin. That's the issue.

    Mt. Sinai

That's of course interesting... Still I'd say that it's difficult to draw any conclusions based on the rock art in the area... After all there's more than a dozen "serious" candidates out there. But hey, I'm not ruling out anything here, my point is that it's unlikely that we'll find hard evidence that makes it possible to make a definite identification of Sinai without any reservations. At this point I think all we can do is to make educated guesses. At least we can say that Har Karkom isn't the worst candidate out there, that's for sure!

    Challenging Articles

Stan may set the standard as he produces the English and French editions of the CANADIAN ADVENTIST MESSENGER. But, I will suggest that on a single issue basis the May, 2015, edition of THE OUTLOOK (the Mid-American Union) sets the standard in several of its articles. All quotations listed below come from that edition. From: “The Challenge—Evangelistically, Part 2, by Thomas Lemon, MID-American Union President: From “God Love Ya’ Mike,” by Michael Temple, currently a SDA pastor in the Dakota Conference: From “He Carries Me Through,” by Rachel Ashworth: NOTE: There is much more in the above.

    Who is a real Adventist?

Loved the article. I agree to let people freely worship in our churches and be "Adventists"; and let God - not the Conference or GC - sort who is in or out of the heavenly body of Christ. In one church I belonged to, some of the informal leaders weren't even on the books of the church; simply because the membership recognized their spiritual gifts.

When I hear the Story of Sodom!

Unfortunately, another quote bug! What I was quoting regarding the devaluation of women dropped off when I responded to "Gay"! Perhaps someone could look into this. Don't want to keep mucking things up explaining what has gone wrong! Now let's see if I can even post myself. At this moment all is well.

One of the historical "markers" in the 70 weeks -- A.D. 27

I cant blame Ellen White or anyone else coming to the conclusion that the anointed who is cut off is Jesus, the problem is the translation. The problem started with the Catholic translation, and continued with the king James version. to be fair the translators of the king James version did not have much original manuscripts at theie disposal, instead they relied heavily on the Latin vulgate. The problem: In 37 cases of the word mashiyach being used in the old Testament it is translated as anointed, not Messiah. Only in 2 cases is it translated as Messiah, and that is in Daniel. This is a blatant intentional mistranslation. Even in Daniel 9 it is the word is translated as anointed instead of Messiah verse before it. To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. 25 “Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street[c] shall be built again, and the wall,[d] Even in troublesome times. 26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; This is intentional, and is misleading. some translations get it right, this is how it should read to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.[d] 25 Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again[e] with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

B/W Photodude. GBU I am very happy to hear what you say! I think we all have to figure what was going on with Lot offering his daughters. He is even called Righteous in the NT. Which is also confusing! and thank you for saying something to Robert. interesting way you came at it It is a human problem whatever sexual it comes about. WhatEv!

When I hear the Story of Sodom!

Unfortunately, I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. Regardless of the current gender rhetoric, the Bible clearly .... ***BUG report ***** Note the quoting problems above. My last post got pasted into this one! And after posting Roberts answer disappeared! I did click the quote in Robert's posting, and it was there when I submitted it. Robert wrote: "Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) are more severely affected by HIV than any other group in the United States." ***********Now begin answer to Robert!: Among the female population, HIV infections are heavily among those with a relationship with someone who is a intravenous drug user (IDU) or who is an IDU who shares needles. Regarding the effort the circumcise the African continent to slow down HIV, faulty science. And may work to spread it as many will assume they are now safe. And it doesn't work any better than condoms. Consider this, the most circumcised western country is the USA, and guess which country has the most HIV? How is that circumcision thing working out?!

What to do on the Sabbath?

Follow how Jesus kept it. 1. ESV | ‎Lk 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 2. ESV | ‎Mt 12:10 And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—so that they might accuse him. ‎11 He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? ‎12 Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” ‎13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. 3. ESV | ‎Ge 2:2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. ‎3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. Only our imagination can limit the good things we can do for others on Sabbath.

    Mt. Sinai

Interesting find! Yup, I agree that it's annoying when interesting articles are hidden behind paywalls. I hadn't heard about Har Karkom before, so I must admit that this made me curious. So, apparently this mountain was a paleolithic cult centre, “covered with shrines, altars, stone circles, stone pillars, and over 40,000 rock engravings”. (Wikipedia.) The theory is intriguing, but I must admit that I'm somewhat sceptical... To give the Exodus a 2300 BC date doesn't sound too plausible, or what? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Har_Karkom About Mt. Sinai and Saudi Arabia… While it's not likely that Sinai was the mountain that today is known as Jebel Musa, the so called “Midianite Hypothesis” is also very problematic: The identification of Sinai with Jebel al-Lawz in Saudi Arabia doesn't fit with the Biblical evidence. I recommend the following article for a refutation of this theory: http://www.biblearchaeology.org/post/2008/06/10/Is-Mount-Sinai-in-Saudi-Arabia.aspx

Many Americans Haunted By Ghosts, Look To Astrology

At least we would hope so. How many can explain the state of the dead, if asked? And we're going to need to explain it to others. This is just setting the stage for what is to follow, soon.
