First Aid kit, tent, knife and pot. If I was on an island, I'm not sure I would want to be rescued. You can use the pot to boil water, and the first aid kit should have some things that can have multiple uses. I like this game.

So... what if someone *is* racist? What if what they say is egregiously, clearly racist? Do we call them on it, or do we stay silent? Who is silencing whom? From my perspective, no-one is silencing anyone. People are disagreeing with other people and, being human, they sometimes fail to do so civilly. There's no monopoly on it on any side of politics. We each ought to do our own bit to raise the standard. But freedom of speech inherently includes the right to disagree and challenge.

(I'll be quiet for a little longer until more people have had a chance to respond, but I think there's a fun discussion to be had in people's reasoning behind their choices)

This is a rough draft I wrote up, similar to my previous post on The State of the Dead. this will be/is on a website, so please give me your suggestions, corrections, etc.. As before, this is not a debate. Do not expect me to respond with disagreements or agreements upon your comments. This is mostly quotes with some text.] ---------------------------- My objection to the idea of "Universal Reconciliation and Universalism". The Bible is clear in what it says, to understand who the Bible says you need to compare line upon line and precept upon precept and it will be understandable, if not pray and God will show you the truth if you seek it with all your heart. Many seem to jump into a chapter not knowing what it is talking about and assume it is saying something different then it really is saying. You need to read the full context to understand. Note: If you prefer the CVOT, CVNT, a.k.a Concordant Version instead of NKJV or ASV you can look it up there, these verses mean the same thing in those versions. All Souls belong to God: “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die." Ezekiel 18:4 NKJV Can a person who has been wicked be saved? Yes! "But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live." -Ezekiel 18:21-22 NKJV Does God delight in the destruction of the Wicked? No! "Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?" - Ezekiel 18:23 NKJV Can a man who has been Righteous can he turn away and loose his salvation? Since both Righteous and Sinners BOTH physically and consciously die on this earth before the end & annihilation of wickedness and death, it does not make sense for the results of sin that God foretold to mean the temporary physical unconscious death on this earth before "everyone" - meaning as-in the "Universal Reconciliation" as "ALL". God is referring to the final end of sin/death/wickedness since this would be separate destinations, rather then one destination for the "Universal Reconciliation"'s "All".

I guess my question is this. If I am stranded on a deserted island and have a choice among all of these things, which would have to be available for me to pick from, why am I limited to only 4?

As an outsider looking in, I cannot feel it is a wise choice which he has made to run....but that is just my opinion. Realistically how great a chance does he have to become one of the final candidates ?

One can support him in many ways and not support him in his run for President of the U.S. Yes, I vote for people who have positions that I do not agree with. "But, I decide that they are the best candidate and I vote for them.

I see no reason for the church to denounce Dr. Carson. He has long been upheld as a hero among us, a role model for young people. The movie about him, Healing Hands, has been shown at many churches. But the church has always maintained political neutrality. This won us some favor in Russia a few years ago, by being the church deemed least political and so was awarded a printing contract for all religious materials in Russia. I still am interested to see if Dr. Carson will be invited to speak at the General Conference session. This may not happen, if the idea of maintaining political neutrality remains a high priority.

As for getting off the island .... writing SOS in rocks on the open beach, sending up smoke signals to passing planes ... praying for God to send someone to save me. God is in control of all situations.

Abraham is a TYPE of Christ here. He is the One crying, "Hold, hold, hold". Sodom is a TYPE for the END of this age. Christ will REMOVE those who belong to Him, thru faith. ( And yes, the fact that Lot and his daughters were NOT very righteous - of themselves- is a good illustration of our condition.) Only AFTER the redeemed have been REMOVED from this earth, will complete destruction follow. THAT is why I believe that the 7 last plagues will FOLLOW the removal of the redeemed from the earth. Concerning Babylon, the Lord will say, "Therefore let her plagues (7 of them) come in ONE DAY." That DAY will be the Second Coming, and those plagues will be poured out AFTER those who belong to Christ have been removed. I see "Lot's wife" as a type of those who are torn between the world, and a "thus says the Lord". She WAS leaving Sodom. She understood that it was wicked. She was "informed". But she hesitated, because things that she loved were still there - in Sodom. Her sons and maybe grandchildren. Her home. Her friends.

Robert, Could we concentrate on the words "made Him to be sin" - and what THAT means. You are off topic. You are using EVERY thread to teach your version of "the gospel".

Gregory: interesting that you assumed the rifle was antipersonnel, or for large predators. What about for rabbits or other small mammals as food? But I eliminated the rifle (and the sunscreen and flare gun) for the same reason you eliminated the matches - finite supplies. Once the rifle bullets are used up, that's it. I picked the fishing rod for food. We don't *know* whether there are critters to shoot on the island before making our choice, but kind of by definition there's water and therefore fish. And bait isn't too hard to get: lost hooks could be an issue though. I picked the tarp over the tent because it's more versatile: it can be a shelter, but can also act as a bag to carry things or something to slid things from place to place in. It can even act as a 'solar still' to get fresh water... which is a reason I picked it over the water purifier (plus the purifier would either use chemicals that could run out or have a filter that could clog - I figured I could find or make fresh water). The knife has a million uses for cooking and crafting - probably the single most useful thing, IMO. And as I said above, I picked the saw to enable me to build a decent shelter quickly... but it could also enable me to build a raft without having to do that with a stone axe, and a raft is probably a better long-term bet for sailing to safety (another use for the tarp!) than a rubber dinghy... So cool to see everyone's thinking!

My thinking also involves why I would not chose certain items: 1) Matches: Not unlimited supply. In the long term, they would soon be gone. The same goes for many of the listed items--insect spray, vitamins, etc. 2) Rifle: The island is deserted; I have no reason to believe that anything exists on the island that would cause me to need a rifle. 3) Compass: Not needed. I could figure out general directions by watching the path of the sun from sunrise to sunset. That would give me all that I needed.

A Palestinian Nation would do nothing to keep the rockets, artillery, and rpg's from landing in Israel, but perhaps the big dividing wall should be completed by completely surrounding the West Bank. Darn those tunnels, anyway. I suspect that we will see a middle eastern nuclear war in the not too distant future. The demons of Islam will only be too glad to wipe Israel off of the map, but they will weep and wail when justice is finally served and they receive their extremely unpleasant, fiery sentence, along with everyone else who continues to hate and attack the tiny little nation. Ultimately, the vultures will only be too happy to gorge themselves on the dead bodies of huge invading armies. These are two different time periods, of course.

I like Gregory's solution a lot: I planned to settle in, Swiss Family Robinson style, and build stuff, hence the saw, he planned to get off the island ASAP!

I just need the boots and a knife. I can deal with the rest of it.

Raft: My transportation out from the island. Tarp: My protection from the sun as I float on the ocean. Water Purifier: I can live longer without food than I can without water. Flare Gun: To signal others that I am nearby and in need. IOW, to be rescued.

Inga: The two (2) parts that were published were a sermon that I preach in churches. Susan (My penname.) also wrote a 26 chapter autobiography which she charged me to get published. In the beginning, I thought that that the story that she wrote would immediately follow the publication of my 2-part sermon. That did not happen. Hospitalization of the AT editor working on it was one aspect. In addition there were other factors that needed to be accomplished--digitalization of Susan's manuscript, was one of them. Then the digitalized manuscript had to be edited. I was than asked to write a preface which I have done. The AT Editor has written an introduction. I have been dealing with minor issues today that I have been asked to clarify. In any case, the AT Editor working on it has informed me that my preface and her introduction will be posted this week, as long as nothing else comes up. That will be followed by weekly publications of Susan's material. There have been some other issues that we have faced. Nothing bad. They have simply arisen and we have dwelt with them.

How the earth was created is not a pass/fail exam on judgement day. AND yes, I am a firm believer that God created the Heavens and the Earth.

I agree with you about the levels... OTOH, there is a simplicity, the simplicity of Jesus I've heard it referred to, that a child can understand. And then there is a point that the Bible gets so deep that I sit agape (that is, a-gape) and I can only sit and go, WOW. This is one of those. I have no trouble with the idea of Jesus being made sin for us understood as He was considered guilty of our sin. The reverse is also true, that we are made the righteousness of Christ in Him. Through Him we are considered righteous, with His righteousness, even.

I don't know what this text means, but it seems to me that your question complicates the matter by using the word "headship." No form of the word head or headship is found here. Our brothers and sisters who advocate an eternal principle of male headship have created the idea that men are to have the last word on all important family and church decisions and that women are to submit. Relations between men and women are about authority and submission. If fact, in their system the pastor has authority over the local church, whose members submit to him. Jesus said "it shall not be so among you" and taught and demonstrated a different kind of leadership -- servanthood. It seems clear that this text is promising a future where the role of women is upgraded, but if we drop headship out of the equation the role of women may be upgraded to something more like mutual respect and mutual servanthood, not authority or dominance. Still, your point that a prophet of God would not use "sinful" female equality as a symbol of His future blessings, is worth thinking about.
