There seems to be such a hatred for those who need help...

We used to get food stamps. According to this list of "approved" foods, we would be non-compliant, because our family is allergic to most processed foods, all dairy and most grains. So what would happen when Big Brother decides that since you don't have milk in your cart that you are eating unhealthy? When you need help, you need help, and Lord knows they don't make it easy for you to get the help. There are tons of hoops to jump through, miles of forms to fill out. And now you have to justify your food choices? smh

Sorry, but I just have to laugh at the justification for moving threads. The thread about an Obama summit with Arab leaders gets moved out of world politics, even though the subject is clearly about world politics, and threads like a US pastor being left in Iran stays here as does the thread on Paul Revere, and a thread about how many people are going to run for the Presidency of the US. These three threads are judged to be suitable for World Affairs, but a summit with Arab leaders isn't? These are more examples of the inconsistent moderation around here.

"Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life." (Romans 5:18) This is why the Gospel is such good news!

​Your whole post makes a lot of sense. We live in an area where there are a lot of young people as well as older generation individuals who walk the streets, many obviously without homes. One particularly cold morning when on our way to church (we're about 10 miles from church home in the town) and we had passed a mound of what appeared to be some blankets, possibly with someone underneath them. Even though we were somewhat late I was impressed to turn around and find out if we might be able to offer some help. It happened to be a young lady who had been kicked out of a male individual's car as a result of a disagreement. I told her we'd be happy to take her home with us if she would be willing to attend services with us, where she could get a meal after the services provided by the church. She readily accepted the invitation, came back to the car and cried all the way to the church and continued to cry through the Sabbath school and preaching services, where I was able to get up front and let the congregation know we had a guest that needed some help, especially since I didn't have enough funds to pay for gas to deliver her where she needed to go to pick up her belongings. The Sabbath School acted like a well oiled (Holy Spirit) machine with individuals giving enough to meet the needs. To make a longer story shorter this young lady, after telling her we prayed each time we went to town that God would lead us if He chose, to someone we might be able to reveal Him, if she felt this was a Divine appointment. That young lady along with some others she gave personal testimony to about the help given her, is now attending church with her children, admittedly conscious of God's care. The way it has been revealed to me God does not necessarily call the equipped to work for Him, rather He equips those who will answer the call. Keep looking up! Even so, come Lord Jesus. God is Love! Jesus saves!

It's a slippery slope and it does say dairy, I was just being specific when I mentioned milk. I've got one that is allergic to all dairy, so? I'm glad it was so easy for you and your friend to sign up. They constantly lost my forms. Misread them, increased then decreased the amount all in the same month. Maybe some states has their act together more than others? All I know was my experience and it was a nightmare. And it would have been worse had these new regulations been in place. I feel bad for those that still have to deal with them.

When I was an ABC manger I told the staff to discount food and books my 10% to those who were on assistance, I wanted to let them know that their Church was behind them in their struggles.. sure some took advantage, other wept.. If we are going to err, we need to err on the side of compassion..

If you said "Obama lies because he is black", that would be racist. The fact that sometimes things are said to be racist when they are not, doesn't mean nothing said is ever racist. If that's not what you say, then what you say is not racist, and I'll either challenge it on the facts or agree. There are plenty of criticisms of Obama that I heartily agree with and make myself. The point is, tone is used to shut people up, and shouldn't be: in all directions. Focus on the facts.

​I read your friends website for 2 minutes and I recognized his glaring mistake. He is trying to make the Greek word eon and the Hebrew word Olam mean the same thing. Words gain their meaning in context, not in isolation. The use of a lexicon can be misleading to some because they will take a specific meaning and then press it into every text to facilitate a predetermined idea. words gain meaning by context. He makes the same mistake with the word "all'. what is all? It can mean all of a specific group, it can mean the every human-again context determines the meaning. Olam can mean a long time, a period of time, and it can mean forever-context is key Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Would this mean that God is only God for a long time by your friends understanding of the word olam? The contrast with God being forever is with mountains (which last a long time) and the immortality of God.
