Ours is a large church with many viewpoints. Assuming that all who support WO are very liberal and do not use the Bible or SOP for support is inaccurate. I was much surprised to hear Mark Finley speak at GC in 2010 about in Christ there is no male or female. He repeated it 3 times and it was his central premise. We cannot just use Paul for this issue as he also told Onesimus to return to his slaveholder owner, which was obviously cultural. EGW says in creation Eve was taken from Adam's side signifying equality. Ty Gibson also leans conservative and I believe his line of reasoning is Bible centered.

Really? I can recall studying these calendars both as a Lutheran in Catechism classes, and as a new convert to SDA. It was an important part of understanding that no one changed the Sabbath--that we've been keeping it all along. It was part of the Revelation and Daniel series of Bible studies that our LE shared with us. I assumed most Adventists were aware of the differences in calendars.

England was on the Julian calendar, and Spain was on the Gregorian calendar...at the point of 23 Apr 1616, England's Julian calendar (for Shakespeare's death) was 10 days behind Spain's Gregorian calendar where Cervantes died. England didn't adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1752.. (a well-known fact amongst genealogists )

I believe a strong Biblical case can be made that we are judged by the amount of light we have. More is expected of those that know more and less of those that know less.

this is simply more rhetoric from another wannabe prophet... The website owner, Ron Buhler (of Toronto, Canada) isn't an SDA, completed or otherwise. Reading some of his other writings, it is quite obvious that not only is he pushing false teachings, but he's also pushing false medical claims and endorsing phony and harmful cancer "cures" - one of which involves the drinking of a bleach solution (perhaps the cancer "cure" involves suicide). He writes that cancer is actually "mold".... He also claims that there are 4 members of the Godhead: Father, Mother, Son, and Daughter. His opinations on this idea rather remind me of goddess worship. He endorses Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church's hate ideology, and goes so far as to claim that the Westboro Church is akin to Noah in the days before the flood. Buhler wants everyone to participate in "imprecatory" prayer, meaning, praying for curses on people, institutions, and particularly on the United States. I have no use whatsoever for the views of this person. He needs to find a new hobby, apart from sending out his unsolicited detritus...

Accusing one of having an agenda is often ironically born of an agenda itself. It would seem that you have yet to offer anything along the lines of what you have been accusing others of lacking in terms of Scriptural authority for your agenda.

From whom does scriptural (or spiritual authority) come? From the denomination at any level whatsoever? NO!! Scriptural (or spiritual) authority only comes from one place - God through His Son Jesus Christ. Who are you to determine who or what does or doesn't have scriptural authority, unless you have an inside connection with God not available to us peons? In your opinion, do women in general lack spiritual authority? Just because someone's position doesn't agree with yours does NOT mean it lacks authority. Oh; and BTW, why are you tying WO with ordination of gays and non-believers? They are not related at all. Strawman!!! Red Herring!!!

Yes there is a valid explaination for the above which is true. NOTE: I am aware that some historians believe that Miguel Cervantes actually died on April 22, 1616. Yep. Rudywoofs explained it correctly. Now, here's another logic question: Fact: The school district I grew up in started the school year on the day after Labor Day. Fact: The school year was 180 days long with 2 days built in for "snow days." Fact: We had two full weeks for Christmas Break, and one full week for Spring Break. Fact: While other kids got to celebrate their birthdays with their classmates year after year, I only got to celebrate mine with my classmates three times--and only if it was on a Tuesday. Why? {I changed my profile page so the answer wouldn't be obvious.}

NOTE: He wrote a 161 page book teaching people how to do what you see him doing in the video. In his book, he lists some 30+ books and other material that teach people how to do what he is doing. One of the chapters in his book provided the answer to the question that I raised in the OP.

I was 27 and my wife was 24 when we married. Statistically we had almost everything going for us. However I was unaware of a personality disorder she had until it changed venue after about 13 years into the marriage. We lasted until 18 years but as many of you know, the marriage failed. With diet and lifestyle, there are things we can do which boost our chances of staying healthy. Likewise, with romance there are thing we can do to boost our chances of a successful marriage. However marriage takes two people saying yes and divorce takes only one person saying no.

Nothing wrong with using the Bible, it is a correct thing to do. The problem lies when persons demand that it can only be interpreted one way, ignoring time, place and intent saying context is not important. The 'truth is out there'...in the hands of the HS.

​Let's look at it like this, pk. If someone disagrees with a certain liberal politician around here what names are they called, and by whom? Does the term racist ring a bell? Who is it that makes the accusation? These things fall into clear lines, or sides if you will. Does the idea that anyone who disagrees with a certain politician must be full of hate ring a bell? Are there clear sides to this? The the lines of agreement/disagreement pretty sharply drawn and people tend to be on side or the other pretty much all the time. True or False? I see it that way quite clearly.

"Barely Adventist" isn't an evangelistic tool... That said, the only thing that could be done differently is to have a statement very visible at the top of each article stating that it is satire. I can see why some don't like the articles -- they're reminiscent of April Fool's Day jokes (which I abhor)...

The Bible does tell us to let our yeas be yeas and our nays be nays. To me that is saying just say what you mean without any hint of deception.

For me, personally, it isn't about whether or not I *get* the satire or sarcasm--or irony, parody, or so-forth-and-so-on ad nauseam--but rather, is it appropriate? Is it kind? Is it useful? Wouldn't a direct, open, truthful, less confusing approach be better? Surely, those with a higher functioning level of "brain power" could understand directness just as well as the roundabout path of satire.

Barely adventist is a waste of time. But then, people find ways to justify anything.
