Windows 10 Is Here--For Some
Naomi reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Windows 10 is here and I have installed it on my main computer. Many people will install W-10 through their Windows Upgrade feature. Under this feature Microsoft decided on a date/time for you to upgrade and sends you a notice that you can upgrade when that time comes. My time had not come so I googled "Windows 10 Upgrade" and went to a Microsoft website that allowed me to upgrade at that time. MS says that the process will take an hour. Some may be able to do it in less and others will take more time. It simply depends on your computer an all that needs to be done. I did not time the process on my main computer, but it was probably two (2) hours in length. It was simple. It was easy. Other than a couple of clicks it was installed without input from me. I will probably install it on my laptop next week. For now, I am getting used to it. My installation of the Pro version was without any charge to me. If you are a user of Windows Media Center, it will be removed in the installation of Windows 10. The majority of people probably only used Media Center to play DVDs. MS says that at a later time they will supply a DVD player for Windows 10 users, free of charge. But, that is not available now. If you need one now there are several available that you can purchase. However, VLC is an excellent free one hat is available. For you MAC users, W-10 is not for you. It appears that my personal files and apps were save. (I had Windows 8.1.) So, far, I have only noticed one program, other than Media center, that does not work with W-10. My Internet provider gives me a free antivirus. It does not work with W-10. I called their tech service people and they are working to get a compatible version out. In the mean time I am using Defender, supplemented with a couple of others that I used along with the one provided by my Internet service provider. NOTE: You should have only one active antivirus on your computer. If you have more than one active one you will likely have major problems.1 point -
Will the redeemed be on this earth for the last plagues?
JoeMo reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
Zephaniah 1:14-18 “. . . On the day of the Lord’s wrath; And all the earth will be devoured in the fire of His jealousy, For He will make a complete end, Indeed a terrifying one, Of all the inhabitants of the earth.” NAS Genesis 6:13 “And God said to Noah, ‘The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.’” ("As it was in the day of Noah" Luke 17:26-30) Jeremiah 4:23-26 [After the great day of the Lord] “I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; And the heavens, they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and indeed they trembled, And all the hills moved back and forth. I beheld, and indeed there was no man, Isaiah Chapter 24 24:1 “Behold the Lord makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, distorts its surface and scatters abroad its inhabitants.” FIRST: I agree that the last plagues (the wrath plagues) will leave earth utterly devastated, lifeless, and uninhabited. I AGREE with SDA eschatology concerning the condition of earth during the 7th millennium. What I would like to discuss is the question of the redeemed being present ON THE EARTH during the 7 last plagues - the wrath plagues. In the TYPE, Noah and his family was shut inside the ark BEFORE the rain came. LOT was pulled OUT of Sodom BEFORE the fireballs hit. The "harvest" wheat must be "gathered" into the barn BEFORE you burn up the chaff. There is no mention of any servant of God on earth during the last wrath plagues. In fact, just before these plagues are poured out, John the revelator sees those who have gotten the victory over the Beast and over his image, now standing on the sea of glass, which is before the thrown of God in heaven (Rev. 15:2, Rev. 4:6). Paul wrote that the redeemed would be changed “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. The living are “changed” and the dead are “raised incorruptible” when the last trumpet sounds. The “last” trumpet is the 7th trumpet. The wrath plagues are poured out AFTER the 7th trumpet sounds. SECOND: I do believe that the redeemed (those with the seal) WILL be on the earth during the warning Trumpet judgments. I believe those judgments will fall during the 1260 days (42 months) of persecution leading up to the Court scene in Daniel 7. That is when the 2 witnesses will be giving their testimony for 42 months.1 point -

I like, but I'm of the opinion this Word below will be in affect up until the other verse quoted below is obtained, by the power and grace of God. …7Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the LORD, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.…Isaiah 55 …51Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.…1 Corinthians 15 In the meantime, this needs be a daily exercise of the mind and heart. 31I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. ...1 Corinthians 15 For the believer this does not mean we pursue or practice any known sin, but does mean we will be experiencing this principle continuously.. 20"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me....Galatians 2 God is Love! The Kingdom of Iron and Clay, or Iron and Concrete?
JoeMo reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
I believe the image is "ground to powder" and the winds carry the dust away. Right? I place Isaiah 2:1-5, Micah 4:1-8, Zechariah 14, and Psalm 72, in the 8th millennium. I believe that Jesus will reign on earth, at the 8th millennium, through His priesthood (all of Israel redeemed). They will teach and govern "the nations" raised as "the rest of the dead". In this scenario, there is no need for anyone on the earth to survive the plagues. There is nothing in those texts which states that these scenes take place during the 7th millennium. I'm unique, I think, as a non-SDA who believes that the redeemed will go to the "place prepared" for 1000 years. I believe this earth really will be desolate for 1000 years. Not many non-SDAs agree with Adventists on this point. I differ with SDAs in several ways, but this is not one of them. Here's a few TYPES that suggest the 8th Day is significant. 1. Work was to be done for six days - followed by a rest of one day. Work began again on the 8th day. 2. The land was to be worked for six days, and was to lay fallow during the 7th year. Sowing began again at the 8th year. 3. Every newborn male descended from Abraham was to be circumcised on the 8th day from birth, as a sign of the covenant with Yahweh (Genesis 17:12). 4. Priests were consecrated for 7 days, and began their ministry as priests on the 8th day (Lev. 8:33-35). 5. After defilement, the Tabernacle was cleansed for 7 days with the ashes of the “red heifer”. The Tabernacle was declared “clean” on the 8th day (Exo 29:37, Eze 43:26). 6. Any clean animal became acceptable for sacrifice on the 8th day from its birth (Lev 22:27). Firstborn clean animals were to be sacrificed on the 8th day from their birth. 7. The person who touched a dead body (after anointing on the 3rd and 7th days with the ashes of the red heifer) was declared “clean” on the 8th day (Numbers 19:11). 8. Every person in the house where someone died, was “unclean” for 7 days (Num. 19:14). This is why the traditional mourning period is 7 days. Jesus died in our “tent”, therefore we will be “unclean” until the 8th day. 9. The woman who gave birth to a male child was declared “clean” on the 8th day. Israel is “the woman” who gave birth to Christ (Lev. 12:2). 10. Quarantine lasted seven days. 11. The cleansed leper (after specified anointing and sacrifices) was declared fully “clean” and could enter his house - on the 8th day (Lev. 14:10). 12. A woman with a flow of blood, became “clean” on the 8th day after her flow of blood stopped (Lev. 15:19). 13. Any person with a discharge became “clean” on the 8th day after the discharge stopped (Lev. 15:28). 14. The Feast of the 8th Day, was a special Feast which followed the 7 day Feast of Tabernacles. 15. David was the 8th Son of Jesse. 16. David ruled as king over Judah for 7 years. He was crowned King over united Israel in the following year - the 8th year. David is a TYPE of Christ our King. 17. Jesus rose from the dead, on the 8th day. He “finished His work”, and “rested” in death over the Sabbath of the 7th day. Regards, Rachel Cory, www.prophecyviewpoint.com1 point -

Yes - I am free to believe that LESS than perfect human beings will be "covered" by the blood of Jesus, right up to and even past the Second Coming - IF they believe in Him as Savior. and serve Him as LORD. I do believe that KNOWN sins (the 10 Commandment variety) must be confessed and repented of. I do not believe one can "hang on" to sins like stealing, murder, adultery, idolatry, or using the LORD's name irreverently and still regard oneself "covered". What I'm talking about are the sort of sins that one may not be fully aware of - within. Like pride - for instance. Or a feeling of self-righteousness, when comparing ones self with another. Or traces of selfishness. I once asked HIM what He considered my greatest sin. The word IMPATIENCE immediately flooded my mind. I had not before regarded THAT as a sin. But I was forced to take a hard look at myself, and had to confess that I was/am often less than patient with the weaknesses of others. I've asked HIM to work on that one - with me. He showed me that this was a form of pride. You've heard the expression, "Be patient with me. God is not finished with me - yet." Well - I don't believe that God will be "finished" with redeemed humanity, at the Second Coming. Our rehabilitation will only have just begun. The very last person won to Jesus may not have much time to purge old behaviors. She may be like the woman "taken in adultery" or "the woman at the well". She will believe, and she will worship Him - and Jesus will save her.1 point -

I am emphasising the bas because it is the dominant mentality in the media. I can acknowledge good it has done. Undesirable systems usually have some good that they can point to. Even the system I can't refer to without fear of having Godwin's law invoked against me did a number of good things. Are you in balance in your view of that system? Or is it more appropriate to point out the harm that a system does, and let the good speak for itself? Same with Islam: it probably gives a lot of people a sense of stability and identity. Same with any system: the British Empire was a mixture of good and bad; the police, anything you care to name. But when the media and the POTUS and much of academia and so on are reluctant to criticise Islam or feminism, dissenting voices are needed, Just today on SBS was a long article on the pay gap, with no acknowledgment of the arguments against the feminist position, or even the possibility that maybe men actually earned it. It said such contradictory things as that many women don't retire with enough super to live on, and that we should have female quotas on the top boards. I think the self-serving, narrow interest nature of modern feminism needs to be pointed out. It has largely become a movement to press the interests of upper middle class women.1 point -

I may have said it before, but I increasingly think the problem with 'organised religion' is the 'organised' part, not the 'religion' part. An organisation protects itself, and people within it do immoral things that they would not do as individuals in order to protect the organisation. It's not limited to religious organisations - corporations and clubs and other kinds of organisations have this effect too. Perhaps organisations can be saved, but only if the focus shifts from protecting the needs of the organisation to protecting the needs of the vulnerable.1 point -

Honestly means 'the whole story', when something is left out that can be seen as trying to lead a person to the incorrect conclusion or in a direction that will only support the position of the presenter. It's called an 'omission'. Perhaps your obsession with 'radfem' is causing some problems. The topic was about 'mass shooters' and the Muslim community. This is not an intellectual discussion, more along the lines common sense perhaps. It the least, factual evidence and reality. Can't blame everything on liberalism/democrats/feminism or radfems. Rather simplistic don't you think?1 point -

Without a Mediator
GayatfootofCross reacted to Ron Lambert for a topic
We need to understand that what Jesus is doing for us now is seeking to perfect OUR FAITH, so that we trust whole-heartedly in Him. We do not need to move out where no one else lives (that would waste our influence as witnesses for Him), not move to some other country (as if all we needed were a change of nationality). Here and now, where we are, we need to trust wholly in Jesus. That is how we prepare to live without a Mediator. That is the only way that we CAN live without a Mediator--having whole-hearted faith in Jesus, Who is our "Wisdom, and Righteousness, and Sanctification, and Redemption" (1 Corinthians 1:30). That said, of course it is to our advantage to move away from the corrupting, distracting influences of the big city and locate in the country, as we can.1 point -

I have to agree BW, when planting seeds, they can take a long time or a short time. We never know. There is a great parable that Jesus tells about the seeds that are planted. Personally its very unfair to judge evangelistic meetings based on the number that are baptized.1 point -
NY13 Campaign - A Massive Effort with Minimal Results?
Sojourner reacted to B/W Photodude for a topic
When a massive crusade like this occurs, you can not judge the success/failure by the number of baptisms that occur at the time of the crusade. Many anecdotal stories can be told of seeds planted that yield results at a later time. One story that I heard regarding this event is that one Sabbath afternoon, a group went out door to door and came back with over 100 names of people interested in Bible studies. You would have a hard time quantifying these kind of results as Bible studies can take a long time and, of course, requires a commitment on the part of the membership. I do worry about people that judge the success/failure of a crusade by the numbers baptized. I am sure that somewhere someone has done an analysis of the cost per person baptized and may feel it was too much. I am sure that if only one was saved, heaven considers it worth it. Hindsight analysis while good for some projects may not be the best way to judge. Prayerfully considering the results during planning for future events is prudent.1 point
