With all due respect to you Pam and the others who have shared negative impressions of women's groups. Your assessment of what is discussed in this group is far, far from what really is discussed. No gossip (that I am aware of) no tasteless jokes about sex .. opposite or otherwise... What we have not had to deal with is the badgering and sometimes down right rude comments concerning another's opinion. We sincerely pray for each other, on and off forum, and have developed a deep respect and concern for each other. We recognize that we are not perfect, no not one, but are working on our personal, spiritual lives. Please don't misunderstand, I love the guys, and the interaction is often very productive and refreshing, but there are times when a fellow lady understands another's issues in a deeper meaningful way. And, some things are just not appropriate to discuss in mixed company!!! As for Women's Ministry ... each to her own. I have not observed the things which you, Pam, re-counted when in a WM group. It's not that I doubt what you said, but the group sessions and ladies with whom I have been associated with certainly did not spend their time discussing the opposite sex, indulging in off colored jokes or gossip. They have been ladies who are serious about their personal walk with the Lord and in being better role models for their family, community and churches. Please do not take this to be anything other than a personal observation but I do believe that in any group we will find what we are seeking. As for the group on C/A I find it interesting that you-all appear to have an issue with it. I ask you this, In the years it has been here has it had an impact upon anyone of you; negative or otherwise?

Some people were referring to a "need" that some have. The need was not to provide a place for women. That has been tried here and that forum petered out eventually. If there was a need, it was to discover if it was possible to have a forum here that would provide fellowship in an environment that was safe and supportive to a member's spiritual walk. The fora all have to do with growth in grace. A person's faith is not questioned but encouraged. Ministry is encouraged whether by sharing or prayer, and as been said the prayer forum is by far the largest one of the bunch. Any disagreements or misunderstandings are done in the spirit of love. It's actually quite amazing to see it in action. EGW is not shot down there, nor our shortsighted theological understanding. Everyone is encouraged right where they are. We have shared huge personal struggles and there have been many serious ones. As I have mentioned many of the women there suffer from chronic pain. In the midst of that they are supported in their quest for forbearance, patience and courage. There has never been a need for moderation. So in that respect it is a different place than the main board. I created it because we were losing too many members, good members, to rudeness, sarcasm, criticism and fighting. I wanted to see if it was possible to foster productivity and joy and spiritual bonding. That was my reason for this experiment. The results far exceeded my expectations. It really feels like heaven there- a place that I love to return to. My dream is that Clubadventist in its entirety would be such a place. So- you see, what we are discussing is not a regular place for discussion. It does have a purpose and it does feed. But granted it's not a place for everyone. But it's not froufrou (sugary) by any means. I tend to avoid some women's gatherings for that very reason. It is the love and patience of the members there that makes it what it has become. We are allowed to make mistakes, knowing that we won't be shot down for it. And in that we are free and safe to confess what is on our hearts. There are frequent hugs and much compassion and counsel done in love. It is not always easy but I can see the love being passed around.

In professional training in psychology, we soon learn that some people need to relate to counselors who are of the same gender and others would benefit by a counselor of another gender. The issue then becomes: What is best for the person? This same applies to the woman's group hers in CA. If that is what some need, then that is what they should have. Their decision and choice should be respected. In a professional setting, a woman may need to share some issues with a male counselor that would not normally become a topic of recreational discussion with other males. This is essentially the same as the situation in which a woman may need to receives services from a male ob/gyn. Not every woman will likely feel a need to belong to the female group here in CA. That is fine. That group exists for those who need it. IF they want to call on any of the males here in CA for advice, they can do so. In the mean time, their desire to be exclusive should be respected and supported.

A GOD of CONCESSIONS! divorce etc.ListIsLong

We as Christians may have caught a glimpse of God's Great Condescension for us sinners but don't understand a God of Great CONCESSIONS(!) which would have to be a great part of Condescension. Here are examples: The ideal is one wife for life and loving her like Jesus loves and dies for the Church. Everything outside of that does not hit the mark (SIN) and Yet God gives in and gives in and Gives In! Its an Aspect of HIS Selfless Supernatural Love we don't really understand. Oh the Depths of Love for all Sinners. WE don't realize what Real Wholeness looks like and what God puts up with our lack of Love for HIM and Others. A thousand concessions daily for all of us. It is not our prerogative to judge others esp. when good christian straights cherry pick daily in behavior and attitude from one moment to the next. Sometimes I see Christians think their Sanctification would be complete (or be better Christians) if they divorce one and marry another.. And GOD is still with them and loving them and looking at them without condemnation. God hates divorce cause what it does to us and our children and family and friends and Church . And concedes to His Holy Nation fresh from Egypt back then and to us at present -And leads them on .Man... What a GOD! u see the God of Concessions in the Garden of Eden u see HIM talking to Moses U see HIM granting Divorce ( Breaking a Sacred Covenant with Each Other ) U see HIM letting His Nation having a KING (1 Samuel 8 and the downside God shares later in this chapter) Concubines and extra Wifes Chariots for War After God could have said no no no..if u do that I will Go! (it almost happened but God Gave HIS HEART to Moses to Intercede) Amazing! What we basically have seen is anytime HIS People fail .. U see God finding a way to still woo them back. .. and sometimes there is a lot of conceding to achieve that GOD sees HIS Church failing on how to treat other people or even each other. And still has not left you. well.... GOD has a plan thru all this evil that just won't go away! CONCESSIONS: HE has done iT before grant a divorce... give a king... send someone else... die at their hands... and yet.. HIS GLORY SHINES EVEN MORE! God granted divorce cause of Hardness of heart ..and still works with YOU! You still get your new wife! You don't have to drop the new and get with the EX! ..and God still greets you every morning with a Kiss on your Cheek. Concessions for Life! God gives us what we want but sends leanness of soul yet still Works with you All. He still worked with Men who gets to have sex with different ladies (David.Jacob etc). And the next day after that. and after that. !!! Still works with you after selfishness and disgust of other people. And a second after that.. and years of it after that. Everyday Going over the speed limit. Yelling at drivers from inside you car. God is still Covering you. Keep wrongly thinking God's Voice sounds like your angry father. or feeling sorry for yourself. God does not take off. Excessive Worrying and Bad Health Habits and Never confessing faults to one another. Compartmentalizing and Coping Skills that have nothing to do with Tools GOD gives thru His Scriptures and the Body Of Christ. Paul emphasizes Be Ye Kind to one another over and over again and many have a problem with that one (at least on a deep sincere level) yet.. ... Yet ... God still saving you! WOW what a Great GOD cause HE gets us! He understand! He made us for goodness sakes!!!!!! If we don't Understand this complex Attribute of LOVE..Of GOD we may not get just how really sinful we really are. A God of Concessions is all over The Bible. And all over YOU! ............................................................................................................................................................ Flashback to the 1960's A Good Father has great expectations for his newly collage graduated Good Son. The Good Son falls in love with a woman who was Married before and she didn't have biblical grounds for divorce. She also has two boys from two different men. The Good Father is against him marrying her. Does he refuse to go to the wedding? Does The Good Father refuse to see his new grandaughter literally 9 months and 17 days later? At family holiday get togethers -should The Good Father reiterate they should not be married over and over again? Is that how A Good Christian Father/Grandfather to be? Ignore the two young boys of six and five from two different men? Continually look down and treat the Daughter in law with disdain. "You ruined my only Good Son! He could have had a Good Virgin to marry!" (a woman without a sordid past..I guess) Life is not easy for the young couple. Instantly a father of three inside of 10 months! .. not making enough money (he worked for his dad who begrudgingly gave him money under the table barely enough to afford the basics. The Good Father gave out of passive aggressive resentment. The Good Father sent The Good Son to a local University to be a CPA with the silent understanding that he would work off the education in service for the rest of his life (it seems). For years this man refused to go to visit his son's family living in the same town (four blocks away). The Good Father only sees His Good Son at the office. No one think The Good Father was a Christian, watching this all unfold for years O yes! The Good Father has biblical grounds to reject this arrangement .. but the Fruit put forth is rotting. CONCESSIONS! God also has the same dilemma divorce? kingship of Israel? getting Moses to be His own mouthpiece? slavery? the Garden of Eden? women and wife abuse? violence? polygamy? what is God supposed to do with the children? now lets turn the spotlight on the people here many Christians today by and large ignore ,in their own lifestyle and pursuit despite biblical demands, regarding the poor and widows and orphans yet God makes concessions for them not acknowledge God in all those faces many Christians esteem their own lives and their own families higher than others esp if they don't live up to their own ideas/theology/church or social graces or class or education yet God still loves them and brings the Spirit forgiveness even though it may take decades for them to truly understand the second great commandment (psst which is a reflection how they really feel about GOD) many Christians have escape mechanisms and habits and addictions that draw them away from God and family on good days and bad days yet God makes concessions to meet them where they are at many many many good Christians compulsively masturbate or over eat or spend too much money on themselves and then do good deeds or go into self abignation to atone or work off so they can finally go to God having feel good enough -Works yet God still loves on them Many Christians run from God and their duties in family and ministry and work yet God works still is there many Christians know better and justify being on the internet/TV/books/golfing/solitaire so much that it crowds out real life responsibilities and devotions yet still God woos the heart to turn to HIM many Christians enter in marriage and divorce telling themselves " God understands " or "He want's me to be happy". yet .. yet still meets them in the morning and what about the Christians worry and have life long anxiety over problems and the looming future yet amen ..yet God still promise them Peace... hiding in the Secret Place of the Most High over and over again God produces good fruit at all times -it would be rotting fruit if every time (over the years) His Good Church came over on holidays .. he sulked in the corner, ignoring the family at best or going out of his way to pull out the Holy Scriptures at every moment to the scared kids and hated on wife and beleaguered husband cause he still has biblical grounds (some christians are very much like that and everyone is joyless around them) we are His Children and He works with Us to move us up in character and faith He Comes Under to Serve to Woo and to Win over and to die and that is that kind of love that finally focuses and changes our hearts to be more like HIM THE SCANDAL OF GRACE PEOPLE! Love hardly Notices when you do something wrong! ! Cor 13:5 God is calling His Church to Mirror This kind of GOD! epilogue my grandfather died in his sleep at he age of 76 never warming up to me and my brother and my mom. the pattern he started on moral grounds and wanting best for his son could not translate to love or joy or kindness in his home. my parents will be married 48 years at the end of the year. 5. Bakers Fined for Gay Wedding Cake Refusal, Deliver a Powerful Message of Love 21Aug, 2015by Terresa Monroe-Hamilton I will show you my faith – what I believe – by how I live, by my works. – James 2:1-10. Aaron and Melissa Klein are an inspiration to all of us. They literally live their faith. The Christian couple has now been fined $135,000 for refusing to make a cake for a gay wedding because of their religious beliefs. They are still fighting that ruling and will to the very end. They won’t leave it for another to suffer their fate at the hands of a bunch of godless bureaucrats. In that spirit, they made ten cakes to send to gay rights groups. They are lovely cakes made in a red, white and blue theme… on the top is a red heart that says, “We really do love you!” It shows true Christian giving and the precept of loving those who hate you and would instead persecute you. From TheBlaze: This wasn’t done for publicity or to be relevant… the Kleins did this to show that they truly do love everyone. They also wanted to show these people that they just want the same rights afforded to gays. Their First Amendment rights were stripped from them – their right to freedom of religion was taken away and they are being told they must comply and do something that violates their Christian beliefs. They won’t do so, no matter the cost. How would the gay community feel if they were forced to go to church, be baptized and pray? That would be just as wrong. Surely there is room enough in our country for freedom for all and not just for a select group. The true victims of discrimination here are the Christians. These couples can go anywhere for their weddings… instead they choose to force others to comply or go out of business. That’s reprehensible and the government mandating it is tyrannical and despotic. The Kleins show what it truly means to love thy neighbor – even if they mean you ill.

    Finding Work

Please pray for me, that the Lord will make His will clear for me very soon. I am no longer working my most recent job, and have less than two weeks to move from the place where I currently live. I have bills to pay (though one less bill this month, for which I am thankful to God), and no drivers' license or a vehicle even if I had one to drive. I do have some money in the bank, but if I have to travel far when I move, it may not stretch very far. I do plan to ask for help, when I know where I am going, if I will need the help. I hope to have an interview this or early next week, and have also been looking for work in other places, too. Please pray that the Lord will provide, and make His will very clear, and that He will strengthen me to trust in Him, and not to worry nor to panic. I believe my faith is being tested. Please pray that, by His grace, I pass. And also that if my worse fears are realized, He will sustain me and strengthen me, and supply my needs even in those places. And that, either way, He'll give me the courage that I need to get through. Of course, I am praying for these things, too. I trust Him and I know that He will provide something and do something in my life. I am hoping and trying to believe that, if it's His will, this interview will yield positive results. Right now, I'm in that period of not knowing, though. My brothers and sisters in Christ, please pray that I will know soon, that He will reveal it to me, and that He will be at work on the hearts of all those who He has chosen to help fulfill His will in my life. Thank you.

Would you ever consider hastening death? If you have a pet that has a painful, terminal condition, would you do anything to hasten death to relieve suffering? Similarly, if you have a loved one who has a painful, terminal condition, would you do anything to hasten death to relieve that person of suffering? For example, turn off a ventilator? Withhold nutrition? Give an overdose of medication? etc.

If you study scripture with the intent of white washing your own behavior or behavior you would like to engage in there isn't any doubt you will find it. To study and learn what God wishes for you is really quite different. Some people do an excellent job of making the scripture say what they want it to say

I chose the Topic of Divorce to highlight cause it hits home and something many Christians can identify with. Other biblical examples People don't mostly identify with ( like Chariots of War ). Though I gave plenty of examples of God concessions in modern life. There are other Modern examples I will leave out so the Thread don't get hijacked. ..but of course... People can bring their own examples from Antiquity to Now! ..................... another CONCESSION is women cutting hair and men shaving a face

Good grief. NOBODY has a problem with there being a women's group at C/A. Not me, not Aubrey, not the men. Nobody. Where do people come up with these ideas? I started *this* thread so I wouldn't derail the one you started....because I'm polite that way. The subject of "women's groups/ministries" merely reminded me that I didn't care for them. And I stated my reasons why in a new topic. The defensiveness of the C/A women's group members seems peculiar to me... And, by the way, my name is not "Sister Rudywoofs"... that makes me sound like I'm a nun in dog pound...

Understanding the Gospel Through the Book of Life

Not overcoming sin is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. Remember where Jesus said there were many who would call to Him, "Lord, Lord; Look at all these things we did in your name?" and Jesus will say, "Depart from Me, I never knew you?" This is the cause of the problem; not having a relationship with Christ, which is being born again, or justification by faith, or having eternal life; there are a number of synonymns. Being converted is another one. A person who is converted will overcome evil with good, but that is a result of being born again, of having faith in Christ, of being a believer. Overcoming evil with good is a *characteristic* of one who is a believer, of one who has eternal life. It's not the *reason* the Lord provided for a name being blotted out, but a *characteristic* of those whose names are blotted out. The reason for a person's being lost is unbelief.

With the pain-killing drugs available, I feel it is an act of mercy to relieve the suffering of someone who is obviously dying. Sure, it may speed up the dying process, but once the heart stops beating, the pain ends, and the sooner the better. I was given morphine IV after surgery following a motorcycle crash (not my fault). I was suffering and in a lot of pain---broken bones and loss of a kidney. The morphine turned a bed of rocks into a bed of clouds. That's the way I would like to go, floating away on clouds of oblivion.

The article lost a lot of credibility when it quoted Brownmiller, Gilligan, and many others. Not to mention that much of the references sounded like a radfem intellectual orgy. I would add that Christianity is not a topic that many of the authors appreciate to begin with. I also found the general level of malevolence claimed towards children to be stretching the limits of credibility. Of course nothing in today's society matches this article like planned parenthood.

Suffice it to say the Word below is all that is necessary. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.....Philippians 4 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?....Jeremiah 17 A new heart is the only solution. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.....Ezekiel 36 God is Love! Hastening death

There is a historical account of the two English Reformers, Ridley and Latimer. Ridley was sentenced to die by being burnt at the stake. The other man, Latimer, was burnt at the same time, and he died quickly. There was a problem with Ridley's fire, however. His legs were burnt to cinders, and he suffered terribly; but the fire was not reaching up. His brother in law "intending to rid him out of his pain (for which cause he gave attendance)", heaped more bundles of wood around him, "so that he clean covered him", thinking that this would hasten his end. Unfortunately it only made matters worse. Then one of the other bystanders took a stick and pulled away the bundles of wood, in such a way that the fire rose up. Ridley was able to twist himself into the more intense fire, and he soon died. Things like this were not uncommon. People were moved with compassion, and they were willing [and able] to help people die in situations like this. The story is somewhat worse than I've told it here, but the point is, when a person is "sentenced" to die, it really can be an act of mercy to help them die. This is a terribly emotive subject, yet I do NOT believe that the actions taken by the spectators was necessarily wrong, and in my opinion, their actions can be extrapolated out into a wider field.

    Gospel to the "whole" world?

"all who are in their graves" who have done good - will come out. AND "all who are in their graves" who have done evil - will come out THE REST - will not come out - at least not on that day. They will not "live again" until the thousand years are finished. There are many who have done NEITHER good nor evil. Infants, young children, and the mentally disabled. These have done NEITHER. They have NO WORKS - AT ALL. You Samie, believe that all names are "written in the Book of eternal Life" before the "foundation of the world" therefore all these are "saved". I call that being given a FREE PASS into the Kingdom and eternal life. No CHOICE necessary. They are saved just because they happened to die as children. It makes folks FEEL good, but - if you think about it - it is manipulation. It is destiny WITHOUT choice. If Adam and Eve were already "saved" (before they even existed) and every sin they would EVER commit was already put upon Christ, and was therefore "forgiven", then why did the LORD hold them accountable for eating the fruit? Same for every sin that any person commits. How then can ANYONE be lost,, for any sin ? Samie says that one must "overcome evil with good" when presented with the TEST. But "failure to overcome" is a sin - right? And if EVERY sin, of every person, who ever lived, was forgiven , then HOW can God put those sins BACK?

    Adventists Exclusivness

when I left the church, I *loved* those "anti-SDA" websites that were comprised of bitter ex-SDA's... They'd whine and complain and point fingers, and I'd join in the "Hallelujah, I'm not a hypocrite" chorus. Then, for a long time, I didn't even bother with those groups... until I got a rude awakening during my witchcraft years. Then I went back to those former SDA forums, particularly the FAF, in an effort to try and figure out what spiritual path to take — back to the comfortable position of pointing fingers at Adventists. It occurred to me, while reading about all the bad, horrible things that SDAs had [subjectively] done to the various members, and reading the "Egg White" comments, that perhaps not all was as it was being cracked up to be. Though there had definitely been obnoxious people in the church who I had detested (and the feeling was probably mutual), and though EGW had been hammered at me ad nauseum, I suddenly realized I was painting the SDA Church with a very broad, very critical brush. While I most definitely had been spiritually abused by some SDA preachers, not everyone was like that. New personal friends came on the scene, including Mike Jones, Lonnie Melashenko, and others, whose opinions I valued because, not only were they were not stupid people, they didn't put on some sort of religious phony persona... they really did walk their talk. And then I joined C/A, as well, and found that, indeed I was right....there are so many different "flavors" of Adventists, just as in any other denomination. And, really, it would be terribly boring if everyone "sang the same note"....

    Gospel to the "whole" world?

I tend to think that God himself will finish the work as when I look at the signs of the "end of the age," there is still a lot of work to do if we are depending on humans to do the work. I really don't think God is going to wait on us. Therefore the argument on who the gospel goes to or who hears it in the grave is all a really moot point. The end will come when God says enough and I suspect most will not even know it.

  28. Riots, race riots are a part of american history. Up until 1960 it was whites directly causing all the problems. Perhaps their role is more clandestine or hidden now. There were several race riots in Chicago in 1919 or 1920s and onwards. Two or three such riots in Cincinnati. Anti draft riots by irish immigrants and others during the civil war. There was a race riot in Beaumont Texas, near where I grew up. I had relatives tell me about that one.The profitable black section of Tulsa Ok was air bombed, because whites did not like the prosperity of the blacks. That page in history has been hushed up. America has a violent an bloody history. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Besides, as I believe and have mentioned, this world is not going to be here for long. Even if the social problems of the inner city were magically solved, there would still be myriads of unsolvable problems, in finance, in the environment, in politics, in just about every way you can imagine, that spell the doom of this planet. The only real solution is the return of Jesus Christ. As adventists, and I say that loosely considering some of the off the wall opinions share in this forum, you should know all this.

Letting nature take its course does not include, in my mind, forcing things upon the suffering just to continue life. At some point, you arrive at the place where you are not promoting life as much as you are prolonging death. Each situation is different and should be approached with much prayer. We had the most wonderful and expert family physician when one of my dear ones was dying of inoperable cancer. The surgeons had said they could do nothing more, and had referred us to hospice. Our family doctor came on board and offered to take over the end-of-life care instead of hospice. He was absolutely wonderful, and the sick one had a peaceful last few weeks. His Rx was: discontinue IVs, nutrition and medication, and let the disease do its job. But he did prescribe a dose of Xanax every six hours [swallowed in a spoonful of applesauce], and 4 drops of morphine on the tongue every 4 hours. The ending was so peaceful I just hope that doctor is still available when it comes my time to go. There was no "hastening" of death, only allowing the cancer to take over. But without any suffering whatsoever for the dear patient. He first asked the patient his permission to discontinue the IVs, etc. It was peaceful for all concerned.

You're misunderstanding what's being said, Samie, if you think Satan has a major role in the atonement process. I suggest re-reading the posts if this is what you're thinking, because no one has asserted what you are saying. Satan will be held responsible for his role causing others to sin, but atonement has to do with reconciliation, and there is nothing in what Satan is doing which is dealing directly with that theme.

The focus in that group is primarily spiritually and ministry-focused.

Topics that I prefer talking with other women about: Marital issues, parenting problems, mother/daughter/grandmother relations, pregnancy, breast cancer, menses, menopause...stuff that women deal with and have personally experienced.

There is one private women's group where serious prayer and study go on, no jokes of the type mentioned, no froufrou at all. No topics have been derailed that I know of and no gossip. Most of the members there suffer from chronic physical pain and have faced serious trials. The largest forum by far is the prayer room but the other ones are not discussion, per se, but Christian growth fora ie- Bearing Your cross and growing your spiritual life. These are topics that generally don't get a lot of time on the main board. There was a men's one that did not take off.

    Finding Work

If you are still looking for a job and do not have a specific direction, you might want to consider taking care of an elderly woman in Florida, a state with a big aging middle class population. Often these positions come with a place to live, food and utilities paid for and maybe the use of a car if you get a license. Orlando is a good place to look because they have a low unemployment rate due to the huge tourist industry- it is the most visited tourist destination in the world. This also means there are other jobs in car rental places, restaurants, tourist attractions, office temps, and the hospitality industry although not all may be suitable for SDAs but at least the hospitality industry is mostly family centered here. It was MUCH easier for me to get a job here than other places I applied- I got 1 full time and 2 part time out of maybe 10 applications. Also you could maybe take nursing or other health program like health information technology at a community college such as Valencia there if you do not have a degree- Pell grants would pay for it in full, and some programs may be part time, at least for LPN training. You could look on Craigslist Orlando for caregiver companion positions but they may want you to be in the area to interview. Read them carefully for the occasional sleazeball but most are legitimate. Orlando also has a huge Adventist population- I attended Kress Memorial and visited Forest Lake and Apopka because I felt these churches were a good fit in terms of my moderately conservative perspective.

    Finding Work

I have not said to the seed of Israel, seek ye me in vain, Seek and you will find, ask and it will be given, knock and it will be opened. Look unto me and be ye saved all ends of the earth. Trust int he Lord with all of your heart and lean not unto your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths. He is faithful who has promised. God Bless you Jessie in this time of test and trial.
