    An angel

She greeted me with a bright smile and a wave of her hand. Cheerful, as always. She is about the same age as my granddaughter-- 10 - 11 years. I greeted her and asked what she was doing. She smiled back at me. But she did not respond verbally, as I expected. About once a month, or less, I will get a one word response and once I had a three word response. When she dos respond verbally, I immediately rush to tell her mother so that we can all celebrate. You see, she has "angelman syndrome." She is always happy. But, she does not communicate by normal means. Let us all appreciate what gifts we have.

    An angel

That's a tough call Aubrey. On the one hand I've been on the side of the fence where we dealt with misdiagnosis and struggling to find the right one. I've also been on the side where we had a diagnosis and well meaning people tried telling me that their person had the exact same condition as my person and when I looked further, no they were actually nothing alike. Like I said, tough call.

    She has arrived!

Isn't it so much less painful to have a grandchild than having a child? In our case, my wife said having a grandchild was painless. Congrats, to you and your family!

What would we do without babies to brighten up our lives? Blessings to the little one.

    Cart Before the Horse?

I think the problem here (and by problem I mean problem of communication) is that you are using the phrase "spiriually alive" differently than everyone else. I think everyone else here understands "spiritually alive" to mean "converted", whereas for you, "spiritually alive" means "able to do spiritual acts, such as believe". It appears to me that what you are thinking is putting the cart before the horse is semantics, simply because you use this phrase differently.

    being "Judgmental"

"The Bible teaches that one should keep the Sabbath holy." "People who do not keep the Sabbath holy will not be saved." "If you do not keep the Sabbath holy, you will not be saved." All three of the above statements are judgmental. One is appropriate. Two are not appropriate and are beyond what God has given us to personally decide.
