    MASS MAILING OF GREAT CONTROVERSY

His Holiness: I have a problem with addressing any human with that term. However, in fairness, we need to be accurate in attributing a meaning to that term to the Catholic Church. 1) It does not mean that the Pope is sinless. Catholic doctrine is clear that the Pope is human and can sin. It is clear that the Pope must confess his personal sin just as any other person must confess it. 2) In Catholic doctrine, that term simply indicates that the Pope is dedicated or "set apart" in a special way for spiritual leadership. This thinking stems from the Biblical practice of calling people "saints."

Ben Carson"Muslims unfit to be Prez"

Nice twist. It's deceptive, but a nice try. Installing sharia law, which a vast majority of muslims thinks needs to be done in this country, including cair, is not consistent with the constitution. It is in direct violation of the constitution and that is what Carson was addressing. Sharia law would not allow for freedom of religion, women to drive, hold down jobs, etc... and allow things like "honor killings" in which fathers and brothers allowed to freely kill the women in their family. And you're criticising Carson for standing up against such tyrranny..... Shows where your heart is.

    Joke of the Day

A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."

    The Secret Rapture

There are a whopping lot of people who believe they will suddenly be raptured out of this world, BEFORE all the trouble starts. Most folks are not prepared to show them why there will be no "secret rapture". I have posted a study in three parts (so far) on "The Secret Rapture". Here's a link to Part One: http://www.prophecyviewpoint.com/htdocs/16a-Secret Rapture-Part I.pdf Here's a link to Part Two: http://www.prophecyviewpoint.com/htdocs/16b-Secret Rapture-Part II.pdf I go in to Darby's teaching, and explain where my belief differs. I go into the Bible use of two Greek words apokalupsis, and parousia. Rapturists teach that the parousia (coming) will be the secret coming in presence only, to rapture the church. And the apokalupsis, will be the glorious coming, to reign on the earth. The problem is that the use of the words, in the texts, is all wrong. Here are a couple of examples. Matthew 24:37 “As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming (parousia) of the Son of Man be.” Luke 17:26,30 “As it was in the days of Noah ... so it will be also in the day when the Son of Man is revealed (apokalupsis). Matthew says the “parousia” will be like the days of Noah. Luke says the “apokalupsis” will be like the days of Noah. Both apostles were quoting Jesus. Do you think BOTH apostles were describing the SAME event? And by the way, Noah’s flood was no “secret”. 2 Peter 3:12 “looking for and hastening the coming (parousia) of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat.” If the “parousia” is the “day of God” - and on that day “the heavens will be dissolved”, this cannot be the “secret coming” - “in presence” only. Adventists may not agree with my belief that the "time, times, and a part" will be the last period of great persecution, which will END at the Voice of God.

    Carly Fiorina SCANDAL?

exactly... After the last debate, I thought Fiorina was maybe someone I could support. But then I read up on her background (including statements from her first husband who doesn't have an axe to grind). I would vote for Bernie Sanders and a host of Democrats before I'd vote Republican for Fiorina.

    Secular movies

when asked by students about that very thing, here's what my Speech and Drama professor at Walla Walla said: "There's nothing wrong with going to the theater. There *are* some who produce bad movies which aren't suitable for consumption. I screen what I watch by calling the theater and asking if I can take my 8-yr-old daughter to see the picture. If they say 'No,' then I don't even want see the movie. That advice was given to me by Sir Lawrence Olivier."

    Carly Fiorina SCANDAL?

Nope, sorry, the old 'the other guys do it too' defense won't work on Judgement Day, and it won't work here. Each candidate must stand or fall on her own merits and her own character. Fiorina has been guilty of at least two straight up lies to the American people in just the past couple of weeks.

    Cart Before the Horse?

The Scriptures tells us that God has given each one a measure of faith. This is not qualified. It does not say "God has given each one who is attached to Christ a measure of faith." or "God has given each one who has the Holy Spirit a measure of faith, as fruit of the Spriit." *Everyone* has been given a measure of faith, whether attached to Christ or not, whether or not they have the Holy Spirit. Consider Romans 8:9 that says that unless we have the Holy Spirit, we are none of his. If we don't have the Holy Spirit, we cannot have the fruit of the Spirit, which is faith. So how can we get the Holy Spirit, since we don't have faith? This is where you have the cart before the horse. Here's the problem: 1.To get the Holy Spirit, one must believe. 2.But if faith is only possible as the fruit of the Spirit, then how can you believe? And we know there are people who do not have the Holy Spirit, because they identified as such in Romans. So how can these be saved? How do they believe?

    ABCs of Yom Kippur

It's about the BLESSING. The LORD promised a blessing for obedience. We want that blessing. Those who do NOT honor the "appointed times" - miss out on the blessing. It's NOT about salvation. It's about the blessing.

Those who wish to have a bully for president will vote for the Trumpkin. They may or may not like it when he defies or fires Congress.

Instituting Sharia would be demanding special rights over other religions, which is what I very clearly and specifically said should not and must not happen. I'm afraid the twist is in your thinking, if you think I'm advocating the exact opposite of what I'm advocating.

Ben Carson"Muslims unfit to be Prez"

Ben said that HE could not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of the nation. He did not say that Muslims should be barred from running for president. I'm OK with what he said - at least he was being honest. I could not advocate putting any of the current Democrat candidates in charge of this nation, either. It doesn't mean I abhor all Democrats. Islam is not just a religion in the sense that most westerners treat their Christianity. It is an entire way of life that encompasses religion, politics, civil and criminal laws, diet, economics, etc. Plus, if practiced as taught in some parts of the Koran, includes killing or enslavement of those who do not adhere to sharia law. Ben Carson also says that he would not support a Christian president who wanted to establish a theocracy. I agree with that statement as well. He seems pretty balanced to me.

it's sad that this was not a topic for the news today... Suicide prevention only seems to matter when a celebrity commits suicide.

Life & Death of a Club Adventist Member

Life, let me give you a couple of examples of what I mean when I say that we have not published every detail: 1) She was married to five different men. She divorced one of them when he came out of the closet, so to speak and practiced an active homosexual life style. That person has died. We see no reason to identify that person. There is nothing to be gained from such. 2) She was not married to every man who fathered a child by her. One of these men is assumed to have repented and become an active lay member of a SDA congregation. I see no reason to identify either his name or the name of the congregation to which he became an active lay member. 3) I state that some of the failures and mistakes were made by her and others were made by congregational members who thought that they were doing right. I may identify those congregational failures because I believe that there are lessons to be learned as to how our congregations treat people who are on a spiritual journey. But, I do not identify the specific congregations as I believe that there is nothing to be gained from doing so. The congregational mistakes were made years ago and not by present members.
