love me some Syfy

I do go to the movies, but I have to limit exactly what I want to see on the big screen and what I can wait to watch on Netflix, mainly because of the cost. I must say we were very happy when they started installing aids for the visually impaired so my husband can enjoy movies again too. Harry Potter movies were fantastic as were the books. It's a great saga of good versus evil. What annoys me are the hypocritical Adventists who will poo-poo HP but uplift C.S. Lewis. Like or dislike a book/movie based on its merits, don't just use a blanket statement condemning one, and then uphold another book/movie that has those same elements. I also love awesomely bad movies, like The Conqueror with John Wayne, or just about any Syfy movie.

you do understand that we are all products of our cultures and society and religious influence and basically it is all we know thru our eyes. A good lil religious boy aspires to dedicate his life to Church (your church..their church..whatever) cause of faith and love for GOD. And grows up in love and service to others that leads to the Head of the organization (Mormon or Baptist or Catholic or SDA). Take an oath? yes to deceive ? no God knows the heart and the intent. We have billions upon Billions in the History of the World who never knew the exact TRUTH. God takes them where they are at. ISIS, Al-Qaida, Taliban, the, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and several other Islamic countries and organizations don't seem to be aware of these principles unless it is to protect their own lives, family, education, religion, property and dignity. As far as Christianity, Judaism, or even some other branches of Islam are concerned, their attitude is "to hell with them". Name one Islamic country that protects the rights of non-Muslims like it says in these 6 principles, rather than just barely tolerate their existence.

From the Garden, and the promise that "the seed of the woman" would crush the serpent's head, the line of the faithful, were those who believed THIS promise. They looked for a "promised one" who would save them from the Serpent's domination. In other words, they were looking for, and believing in the promise of Christ Jesus. They may not have understood exactly HOW he would crush the serpent's head.

I read it, I just fail to see why it should hold much credibility. I prefer to examine actual Islamic texts and sermons, and the statistics showing how many people follow that line of instruction, over PR pieces intended to promote a positive view of Islam in the general media.

A better question would have been, "Is continued homosexual behavior compatible with belief in Christ, as Savior and LORD ?"

I'm sorry to hear this. But maybe Jesus is always there He's just waiting for the right time to be made known or waiting on us. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 ESV... but I don't know your situation so I can't say much.

Many Mormons were not happy with Mr Romney's run for President either. I think that if any of us were put under the media microscope, we'd come out not looking great. I say and do stupid things every day. Fortunately no one is following me around with a voice and video recorder.

I have found Jesus to go everywhere I go. Always facing me with non condemnation. To even the darkest places ...He is there. His kind Holy Face in my face at every turn. Amazing.

I have to ask myself, would I ask Jesus Christ to go to a movie with me, or watch one on TV or DVD? Would I play some music if he were in the room with me? Everything we see, hear, or do, is all monitored and recorded. We're all on different paths, and at different times, but our goal is to join the Kingdom where nothing evil is permitted. If we pull out the weeds in our lives, then there's more room for the flowers to grow. While my spouse watches all of the crime shows on TV, I don't like to be around it, but even so, I sometimes get caught up in the drama. I usually get the computer out, close my eyes, and listen to the audio Bible with headphones on.

Anyway, God does not mind hanging around with us. He hung around with donkey caravanier Abraham (granted a "king" or "Chief of a nomadic tribe, but still a smelly donkey caravanier). With escaped slaves who needed to be taught how to go to the bathroom. With giving King Hezekiah the chance to give to Babylon his true riches, his God which would have lead to a world wide evangelism and setting up his kingdom. With the people in exile hoping they would share their God with their neighbors so that the exile could have ended in a glorious second exodus lead by the Messiah. But still crying with them with a great disappointment that it was not a second great exodus lead by the messiah but still took them home. Describing the death of Jesus as "I was wounded by my friends" (We have not studied Deuteronomy 4 enough. It gives 2 plans for Israel, one faithful in the land the other in exile. We either want "replacement theology" where we replace Israel with the church. Or we want the church raptured away and a return to land theology (Land theology made sense when that was the crossroads of the world but not in our modern world). God wants to use Jews in the same way he used people like Abraham Joshua Heshel, Yigael Yadin, and others. God still does not mind hanging around with them. God does not mind hanging around Millerites looking for the second coming in the mid 1800s and still is our friend and hanging around with us today despite our quarreling and unfair treatment to women who he has called into ministry. We are all an interesting lot of people, but God calls us his friends.... Jesus said that God was like a farmer who planted mustard seed which grew to attract birds and critters. Mustard seed is a weed that grows all over Israel and is a pain in the neck for farmers to try to get rid of. And we put up scare crows and other things to keep birds and critters out of our garden. But Jesus pictures God as a crazy gardener who is proud of his garden of weeds and over run by critters. Sometimes I feel like a weed or critter but God is still proud of me and says I'm someone he enjoys hanging around.

No theater, than no TV movie watching, no watching at school functions, etc, etc. Not sure what EGW was referring to, but I would think it was about content and perhaps environment. For me movie watching is like reading a book, only condensed. Thats why I have a fair size collection, get more out them when watching again. Some are pure escapist entertainment, need that once in awhile.

Let me make clear the point I've been trying to make. You're statement here is clearly incorrect because Abraham is a counter example. God Himself preached Christ to Abraham. Also, the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is preaching Christ! Anyone with access to Scripture had Christ preached to them, and Paul explicitly makes this point in Galatians 3, where he says that Gospel was preached to Abraham, and that anyone believing any other Gospel than the one preached to Abraham should be accursed. There is no way to be righteous other than by believing in Christ. This is Paul's whole point, in all of Romans and Galatians. He argues this point in many different ways. How do you think a person could be righteous, other than be believing in Christ?

Samie, I wrote 5(!) posts dealing with the issue of Abraham not knowing Christ. Yes, Abraham did know Christ. First of all, Abraham spoke face to face with Christ; it was Christ who said to Abraham, "I am thy exceeding great reward". But even if you don't see this (that it was Christ who was speaking to Abraham), we can certainly infer that Abraham knew about Christ because of who it was who preached the Gospel to Abraham. As an aside, if you would be kind enough to respond to my posts, that would be helpful. There is a reason I am writing them! You just skip over them with the assumption they are not dealing with your questions, but they are. Please respond to the posts, and if you don't see the connection, point that out in your response. Ask questions if the points don't make sense, but please don't just skip over them, because it takes time to think out what to say, and to write out them out. Anyway, to continue with the point, it was God Himself who was preaching the Gospel to Abraham, and surely God would not have forgotten to mention Christ to Abraham, don't you think? Now Abraham could not have been an Israelite because Israel hadn't been born yet. If a Jew is one who is a descendant of Judah, then he would be discounted for that reason also. If we take the Jews word for it, that Abraham was the first Jew, then he certainly wasn't until after he was called by God to leave the house of his father Terah, when God made the covenant with him. From a spiritual standpoint, a true Jew is one who is a Jew inwardly, and before one become a Jew, one is a gentile. Regarding there being verses dealing with Abraham, there are no verses which state either that Abraham was a jew or that he was a gentile. We have to figure out what he was by using the definition of the term, since Scripture doesn't say one way or the other.

The test with religious liberty questions is that it must apply to every religion. Christianity cannot demand special rights over any other religion. SDAs cannot demand special rights over any other denomination. No religion can demand special rights over any other religion. If any religion is excepted, either positively or negatively, it is no longer religious liberty. "With liberty and justice for all".

Also, addressing him has "His Holiness" is blasphemous. Have 7th-Day Adventists lost their minds? Maybe there are a very few areas that are similar with Mosaic Law, but Sharia covers a lot of territory. It seems that women are generally treated as inferior to men, and aren't even allowed to drive a car or talk alone with a male who is not her relative.

I have heard similar statistics like that before. Never really even questioned them. Thanks for posting this. I just got married back in March. I love my wife and can't imagine every being without her.

I mean that IMHO, there are many so signs spoken of in scripture that can easily be interpreted as signs of "the beginning of sorrows" that I am watching the road ahead more closely over the next few weeks than I otherwise would. I repeat that NOTHING may happen; and I hope that's the case. However, I will be watching and praying more now, just in case these signs do point to the beginning of events portrayed in eschatology. You can judge that admission however you want to. Google "33 events in September" if you want to see what I'm talking about. Just fringe lunacy? In some ways, I hope so. In other ways, I hope not. I would LOVE to be around for the Second Coming, even though I would rather it be from a secure air-conditioned house with plenty of food, water and other resources; but it probably won't be that way.
