NPUC Hosts Children's Leadership Conference More than 300 individuals active in children’s Sabbath School ministries and the Adventurers program attended the North Pacific Union Conference Children's Leadership Conference held Sept. 24–27 in Portland, Ore. The conference featured eight general meetings and 80 individual breakout sessions. Guest presenters for general meetings included Brenda Walsh, 3ABN (Three Angels Broadcasting Network) Kids Network general manager, and Terry Johnson, executive director of mission integration for Adventist Medical Center in Portland. WWU Students Raise Over $100,000 for Orphanage The Associated Students of Walla Walla University (ASWWU) have devoted the past two years to raising money to build an orphanage in Kasese, Uganda. They announced that they surpassed their goal of $100,000 and have raised a total of $108,234.84 for the orphanage. ASWWU partnered with Christalis, an organization that has been working to provide a place for the orphans in Kasese to call home. Christalis matched ASWWU’s donation up to $100,000. Construction on the orphanage began in October 2014, and the building project is in full swing. Read more from Walla Walla University News. Wilson, General Conference president, launched his own Twitter and Facebook accounts on Thursday in an effort to better communicate the church’s activities directly to members and other people. Wilson said he would use his Twitter account (@pastortedwilson) and his Facebook page (facebook.com/pastortedwilson) to share his personal prayers, favorite Bible and Spirit of Prophecy materials, information about his current outreach activities, and photos and news from his travels. Wilson will use his Facebook page to answer questions about his vision for the church, his spiritual life, and his activities. Help with Long-term Fire Recovery Volunteer to participate in the Community Rebuilding Mission Trip planned for Oct. 25–Nov. 2. Northwest Adventists will be working with faith-based organizations to help families in Washington State counties of Chelan and Okanogan to rebuild homes from last year's fire and help with recovery from this year's fire. As I grow older, now pushing 60 years of age, I remember other members when they were my age and now gone....all of us wishing to be changed in an twinkling of an eye...and I feared death then but not so much now....I now remember someone saying that they welcomed death because they were old and frail and the body was aging and giving of problems...Getting older is a reminder of younger days "when I could....." grip harder, walk faster.poop faster/without pain, hug harder, see old friends more often, attend to family....but now they may attend to me....or not....Old age is an inconvenience not to be missed....
