Both are true, of course. People with bad experiences with the fathers, for example, can have difficulty with the concept of God as our Heavenly Father. Sin, in particular, causes us to think things about God which aren't true.

Not to be a wet blanket, but after studying Jones, Wagonner and EGW on RbF I think Ty is still obeying in his own strength, but for the "right reasons". As all the twists on the same theme have never worked for me for whatever reasons I have been so relieved to have discovered what I believe is their intent as well as the first 3 steps of the 12 step. "I can't, God can, I think I'll let Him." "God does for us what we can't do for ourselves". Without me ye can do nothing. All we can do is give our will to God and He will work in us both to will, and to do, of His good pleasure. Nothing else has worked for me but relying on God's promises.

One can only state that one believes that more evidence supports a specific date than supports another date.

I have listened to quite a bit of the video about her. Just maybe, she is following the leading of God in her spiritual journey? Who are you to say? Who are you to predict where God will lead her next. Just maybe, God does at times lead one out of the SDA Church in order to save them.

I put this thread up cause two things Rang my heart and Life in the walk with JESUS. 1: ... is that I have been under conviction for a long time to bring heaven and God's love to my my most personal intimate relationship. Namely my Buddy. Its been a long long 26 years of give and take and highs and lows. He is the more easy going of us two and i bring the loud and dramatic. And also more biblical knowledge and study which i useD to shut him down. In the beginning of our relationship i drove him into Church and drove him right on out . I had to grow up or I would have been out. The principles that TY spells out in relationships has worked for me. Its been long going and very very imperfect of execution but there had been great strides made. Then I find this article! Amazing! (BTW.. he has his faults too..but it's about me bringing Heaven/Jesus to him) 2: ..it is a powerful thing to the human sin stained heart to realize God is exactly like JESUS! And to truly obey HIM cause you know deep inside of your gut.. His rules,laws.declarations is to protect you and others! To know that God is your Servant and doesn't Lord over you. He wins your affections and your heart cannot do anything but Praise Him and see the Most Lovely Entity in all the Universe! ... Our hearts align to His Character. I'm not following this. I know Ty somewhat, and how he thinks (again somewhat, I think well enough to comment). What did you have in mind? From my reading they (i.e. Jones, Waggoner, Gibson) are saying very much the same thing, but with different language.

Acts 17..... 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at ; but now commandeth all menevery where to repent : 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness God winks, or turns a blind eye to - you are right that God is a God of concessions. We have all earned the wages of sin which is death. So God has to make concessions and extend grace, for now, or we all would be toast. Not such a good strategy to deliberately do what one knows to be sinful behaviour. This sears one's conscience and comes close to tempting God. It is important that we worship God out of a clear conscience - and to do this we need to root out private sin. And God will help us do that.

Like, love is the highest of God's laws?

A text I've seen but has recently impressed itself on my mind has to do with obeying the gospel. Not the law. The gospel. I think it would be nice to prayerfully study this. By that I don't mean that automatic response I see so often. You know, hear, respond, without engaging mind or in prayer. I don't know how many times that can seem so right but if I see others contradicting basic SDA and/or bible beliefs when doing that more than likely so am I. Plus the only gain seems to be that of thinking so highly of myself as in, look how smart I am! When in reality I'm just talking myself into a certain entity's territory of which I may never wish to escape. I think I know what it means to obey the gospel, but I like to take it slow and prayerfully first....and would like to hear others' impressions.

Yes, makes sense. We see Jesus was separated from others by their sin. The complaint of the pharisees was "this man fellowships with sinners". But sin causes us to think things about God which aren't true, which is seen from the very beginning, where Adam and Eve ran and hid from God (who surely was Jesus Christ). Why would anyone run and hide from Jesus? It doesn't make sense, apart from the tricks sin plays on the mind. Consider the scene at the temple. The money changers couldn't get away quick enough, but at the same time children were approaching Jesus to sit on His lap! If we could only see how good God is, and how bad sin is.

IF the rebellion had never happened, so long ago in Heaven, would the family of God truly KNOW the depth of the Father's love? The often quoted, God "works everything for good, to those who love God", comes to mind. God has "worked" even the rebellion of Satan, "for good". BECAUSE of God's response to Satan's rebellion, the redeemed family of God will praise HIM with a depth of love, they could never have known, without that revelation.

It is the little things that count. We make choices on big things. But what drives such important choices is the accumulation of countless choices on many small things, related or not, that mold and form our will to decide at that momentous occasion. Yes, it is inevitable that the person who turns left a thousand times at the fork in the road is going to "automatically" go left under the pressure of a "new" choice when the way is supposedly obscured and uncertain. But what sort of choice does the person make who suddenly wakes up and devices to stop just going with the flow and turns and states swimming against the current of life, his heredity, his preprogrammed instincts? To say that never happens makes it hard to explain the truly surprising and unexpected choices we make. Somethings can only be explained by free will. Otherwise we are biological robots.

I agree, Lauralea! I met a SDA man who wanted to go into ministry but he believed he had to divorce his current wife and go back to his first. I tried to tell him he didn't have to do that but from his Church culture it was held out. I ran with a rough group that believes NEVER DIVORCE no matter what. Something about home headship espoused in Bill Gothard Ministries (Basic Institute for Basic Life Principles). I went with my Church to see him for a Seminar for a weekend in Sacramento 30 years ago. There is scripture saying not to remarry an ex spouse also. People. Danny Shelton religiously backed up his divorce and remarriage. But I digress. I have no dog in this race, I never married, Thank GOD! So I expect I wont be getting a divorce anytime soon. The OP is not about divorce..I used it as an example that way too many Christians might identify with to bring a point home. It is also not about excusing sin. It is about God's dealing with us in regard to this facet of Love that I hardly ever ever see in any conversation about HIM. soooooooooooooooo i brought it up I could have focused more on JUDGING,SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS and GOSSIP (to pontificate against) that God puts up with and still loves on us. These three things are a constant in too many Christians lifestyles. All those are backed up by the Church and even given Spiritual names and whitewashed. Along with Divorce these leave catastrophic consequences that echo thru out Generations. God is better than we all think. and We are worse than we realize. GBU! .

I've thought a lot about divorce as an example of God's giving in due to the hardness of man's heart, as an example of other things (specifically chariots of war). People can get a wrong idea of God's character because of these concessions, but we see the truth about God revealed in Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I do the things I see see my Father do" and "I say the things I hear my Father say." Where did Jesus see and hear these things? From the Scriptures. Somehow Jesus was able to read the Scriptures differently than the rest of us, and see a God who is incredibly beautiful, and thankfully presented His image of God so that we could all see it, and wonder, as He did. I think the OP, God of concessions, is one of the keys to "getting" God's character; not all the Scripture reveals God doing is God's will (i.e. "perfect" or "ultimate" will). Only in Jesus Christ do we see that!

Just another recent thought here ...regarding divorce and adultery and immortality and re marriage David when Repented and Kingship and Restoration and Everything (Psalms 51)... he didn't go back to his first wife (according to Scriptures). He rode off into the Sunset with the Woman He Cheated with! A GOD of Concessions! LOL ( and the SEED past thru the Generations) Ahhh Maazing BTW I am more against divorce online more than anybody I know. I never been married and I can be so smug. But we are not talking about meeeee. Just what I see in the Bible! GRACE looks Scandalous! But working on the Heart towards HIM and OTHERS My Church taught me to be hard on Divorcees .
