    Granddaughter sick

Thank you for your prayers! Mae is home now! The last I heard before this is that the doctors were going to put a catheter to the area near her heart to deliver antibiotics. I don't know if they went ahead and did that. And now I get the news that she is home. I am very happy for this recovery that happened sooner rather than later

Will be praying and asking Jesus to fulfill this/these promise/s for her, according to His expressed will. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.....Matthew 21 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven......Matthew 18 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.....3 John 1 Father, we are so grateful to be able bring our little ones to You, especially when they have no recognition yet of how much You love and care for them, as well as we ourselves. Please give little Mae the health at this tender age, that one day she will be able give you the glory, rightfully Yours, of how You personally touched her when she hadn't yet been able to call on Your name for herself. Thank You Father, for answering our prayer for little Mae's wellbeing. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen! God is Love! Jesus saves!

    Eyptian pyramids for grains

just to be clear, Dr Carson did not state unequivocally that the pyramids were made for grain storage. He said that it was his *personal* theory... and he said it 17 years ago in 1998. And in comparison, a year later, in 1999, the Chicago Tribune accused Obama of being a "gutless sheep" on his crime legislation record. Was it worse nearly 20 years ago for a political figure to have a "personal opinion" of an archeological structure's use, or to have a bum record on crime legislation? My point is that scavengers will dig up dirt on anyone, for no other reason than to make someone appear stupid or incompetent. And appearances can be deceiving. I detest mud-slinging, overt or covert, from any side of the political field.

Who is the One New Man Created on the Cross?

Pnatt pointed out that we are drawn to God, WHEN we "see" (begin to comprehend) His love for us. We see" that love in the death of Christ. We are drawn to Christ, and want to respond to His love. This is the true basis for conversion, and for obedience to the Law. But this scenario necessitates one actually "see" (or at least hear about) the physical Jesus and His death. What about all the people from the Old Testament period, who WERE Israelite ?? They did NOT "see" Jesus. So how could they have responded to THAT revelation? It makes me think that very, very FEW from that period will be raised at the SC, as part of Israel redeemed. And there are the children, and the pagans who never HEARD. They did not "see" Jesus, and begin to comprehend God's love for us. They could NOT be converted by this means. For me - this means they MUST be resurrected at a later time. The unreached pagans must "see" Jesus. The children must mature to the point where they can "see", when they HEAR of Jesus. And even some of the OT Israelites must "see" Jesus. Then they can be "drawn" to Him, be converted, and be "born again". There is NO OTHER WAY to be saved.

    The Secret Rapture

In the Bible, the word "heavens" may have three different meanings. 1) Where the birds fly--a localized area surrounding this Earth. 2) Where the Stars are. 3) Where God is.

  7. Congressman John Lewis Receives Social Justice Award On October 31, Congressman John Lewis, (D, GA) was honored at the Oakwood University Church, receiving the 2015 Social Justice Award. Representative Lewis is well respected for his work in the United States Congress representing Georgia's 5th district. He is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and also serves as a ranking member of the Oversight Subcommittee and member of the Human Resources Subcommittee. During the service, Congressman Lewis was honored for his longstanding work as a civil rights activist advocating for progressive social movements and the human rights struggle in the United States. Congressman Lewis was given a plaque "for your office in Alabama," said Pastor Carlton P. Byrd (left), but "take this to your office in Washington." Byrd was referring to a painting of Representative Lewis, which brought Lewis and many in the congregation to tears. Lewis is best known for his work with the Freedom Rides of 1961, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the March on Washington in August 1963, and the historic march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, on March 7, 1965. The local CBS affiliate station, WHNT News19, was one of several media outlets that was present for the service and the press conference which immediately followed. (Photo by Anthony Chornes II) Healthy Campus Week Calorie Burn Challenge Winners On September 21, the Office of Public Safety challenged the entire Oakwood University campus to a "calorie burn" event during Healthy Campus Week 2015. Six teams accepted the challenge, and on October 30, the final weigh-in occurred. With a combined loss of 38.5 pounds, the winners of the "rolling trophy" are members of the team from Student Accounts: (back row, l-r) Waltie Getfield, Paula Wilson, Alton Conwell; (front row, l-r) Racquel McLean, Edrita Dawkins, Shelley Vaughn (team lead), Belita Newby, Anayansi Ramirez, and Lani Sharpe. The trophy is "rolling" because the winning team can be challenged to defend their title and trophy. One of the winning team members said she "went from chicken biscuits to oatmeal" for breakfast. Team leader Mrs. Vaughn also stated that her team began to embrace the STANDOUT principles which made a difference in their lifestyle. The second place team was Campus Safety (Chief Harris, Captain Clark, and Officers Brand, Byrd, Davis, Triplett and Winters). In third place was the Fit for Life team (April Fortune, Monica Gilmore, Faye Hicks, Stephanie Matthews, Cheryl Mitchell, Janet Poles, and Adana Wilson). Social Work Establishes UNICEF Affiliate The Department of Social Work has established a new club under the auspices of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). This club is composed of students interested in assisting disadvantaged children around the world. Their first initiative was to encourage and carry out activities with young people living at the Harris Home for Children. Harris Home for Children is a residential facility that provides therapeutic care and educational services to the children of Alabama. The UNICEF club is sponsored by Samson Chama, Ph.D., MSW. Oakwood's NAACP Chapter Releases Balloons for Awareness, Support by Naomi Coggs, student writer On October 29, Oakwood's NAACP Chapter hosted a balloon release in front of the Monument to Service, as a tribute to victims and survivors of both breast cancer and domestic violence. This event closed out a month of breast cancer and domestic violence awareness, while keeping students informed about risks and prevention. Breast cancer survivor, author, WEUP DJ, and Oakwood alumnus, Micah Logan '04, shared her powerful and encouraging testimony to attendees. "The significance of this event and having a survivor come speak to us comes from the impact that those two causes have had on the black community specifically. According to statistics, black women have a higher mortality rate when it comes to breast cancer than any other race. The leading causes for that are lack of access to adequate mammography centers, lack of usual health care providers, as well as lower incomes. We wanted to support, commemorate, and educate individuals with those statistics as well as to give release to all of those who have been impacted or influenced by domestic violence or breast cancer," explained NAACP Chapter President, Christopher Johnson. The program ended with students writing the names of individuals who have been affected by breast cancer or domestic violence on a pink or purple balloon. After a moment of silence to commemorate the victims, the balloons were released into the air, leaving the sky full of balloons as a sign of support, honor, and hope. (Photo by Julian Magloire) November's STANDOUT Focus The health principle emphasized in the month of November in the 2015-2016 STANDOUT calendar is adequate rest, which is one of the most basic yet essential healers of the human body. It helps the body recuperate while re-invigorating the mind and spirit. Adequate rest also contributes to overall performance by boosting learning comprehension and memory functions. Take time for rest, relaxation, and sleep to achieve optimal health. Ambassadors Head for Season-opener at WAU Alumni Notes Roger Ryan, '88, was supposed to go into medicine, not music. If things had worked out a little differently, he might be in the middle of an accomplished career as a cardiovascular surgeon instead of launching his own record label, AfterTouch Music. Ryan has enjoyed a two-decade career of making music, working as a producer and pianist, ccompanying the likes of CeCe Winans and Wynonna Judd. In recent years, he has focused on producing for artists from multiple genres, especially Gospel, R&B and pop. It was during his production work that Ryan noticed that some of the most talented artists he worked with had trouble getting record deals. He solved this dilemma by launching his own record label. Who is the One New Man Created on the Cross?

My favorite explanation is the following: This brings out that if one is lost, there is a rejection involved, that God is taking the initiative to save, and that it is enough to not resist the drawing of God in order to be born again. It also brings out that there is a rebirth involved, a writing of the law in the heart and mind (my words; but the idea is there; this is the New Covenant!), a supernatural work on the part of God. As Jesus put it, "you must be born again!" There is a nice balance here.

Who is the One New Man Created on the Cross?

Thank you Samie for answering my questions! These are good answers, by which I mean, complete, clear to understand, so thanks again. This helps a great deal in understanding your thought. We may disagree with one another (I'm not referring to you and me specifically, but generally, in the forum), but at least we can disagree with what the other person is actually thinking when we have clear dialog as opposed to some fabrication in our mind as to what the other person actually thinks. Well answered questions help me "get" what you're wanting to say, so I don't address straw men in my response, but actually comment on what you think. I'll respond in detail throughout the day as I have time, but will make a very quick comment in regards to the cross that for me the power of the cross by means of revelation; that is, the cross achieves its power by what it reveals. It did not create any reality about God, but it revealed God in a way that He had never been seen, so much so that even holy angels were profoundly impacted.

Who is the One New Man Created on the Cross?

First of all, regarding my position. Both you and I have been impacted by Waggoner and Jones. I can explain my case, which I'll do briefly, but I don't know how you came about this, but the original idea came from Jones and Waggoner. The development went like this: 1.Jones and Waggoner preached on justification by faith, and had the insight that the Arminian position, that the gift of eternal life is something God offers us, wasn't the whole story. There's sort of a middle ground which falls between Calvinism and Arniminism, which is what the life raft analogy is getting at. Waggoner, for example, emphasized the fact that the gift was not merely offered, but has been given to each one. 2.Others picked up on what Jones and Waggoner were presenting, not the least of which was Ellen White, who has such statements as DA 660, that even our physical life we owe to the death of Christ, the point being that there are areas where the death of Christ is effective for every human being. 3.Robert Wieland revived instead in Jones and Waggoner, and put his own spin on their message. He had some great ideas, such as faith being a heart appreciation of the love of God revealed at the cross. Wieland spoke of a legal or corporate justification effect for all, meaning that the sins of all have been legally forgiven, and no one will be lost because their sins were not legally forgiven. Justification by faith, per Wieland, occurs when the believer believes the good news, and this justification has an impact in his heart and mind, reconciling him in fact to God, not just legally. No one (not speaking of infants or mentally challgened, etc.) can be eternally saved without being justified by faith. which again reconciles the believer not just legally, but in fact, to God. 4.Sequeira was baptized by Wieland, and put his own spin on what Wieland taught. There are many similarities, but some differences, particularly in emphasis. For example, Wieland was most concerned about justification by faith, whereas Sequeira spends more time on corporate or legal justification, as he views this as the heart of the Gospel. Ok, with that as a background, my opinion is that Jones and Waggoner (and Ellen White) were the most accurate of this group, although there are things which I really like from Wieland especially, but also Sequeira. I perceive my view to be the same as Jones and Waggoner's. I perceive Samie's view to be something of a spin-off of Sequeira's view, but still off by himself (Samie, that is), as there seems to be no role whatsoever for justification by faith, and I've never seen this idea before, so hats off to Samie for inventing something totally new, as that's not easy to do. Regarding the life raft analogy, a big flaw I see in the analogy is it does not address the reality of the actual problem, which is that we need to be converted. As Jesus Christ put it, "You must be born again". I see this nowhere in Samie's explanations. How is one born again? Where does the cross fit into this? Why must one be born again? I don't see these issues addressed by Samie. Another problem has to do with not understanding what faith is, and not understanding Romans 12:3. Romans 12:3 says that one should not think of himself more highly than one ought but according to the measure of faith given to each one. From this Samie infers that faith has been given to each one, and before one can believe, this faith must have already been given, and this happens by being attached to the body of Christ through the cross. Some problems with this position: 1.Samie never explains what this means or how this happens. Specifically, what does it mean to be "attached to the body of Christ by the cross". Unless this can be explained using other words, it's just gibberish, and to date, Samie has been unable to explain what this phrase means. 2.Samie never explains the role of the cross here. Why was the cross necessary in order to be attatched to the body of Christ? 3.The body of Christ in Paul's writings refers to believers. For example, 1 Cor. 12 is very clear about this, and if one looks at any source whatsoever anywhere one can see that the "body of Christ" is universally understood by everyone everywhere regardless of denomination as consisting of believers i Christ. Indeed, given the diversity of ideas among different denominations, it is difficult, maybe impossible, to find an area such as this where there is universal agreement as to what the body of Christ is (with the caveat that some groups restrict "believers" to being members of their denomination). But until now, before Samie, nobody has suggested that the "body of Christ" means everyone. It clearly didn't mean that to Paul in 1 Cor. 12, and nobody has ever understood Paul this way, at least I've never seen this, and I've studied Paul a fair amount, so again, hats off to Samie for finding something new under the sun, which isn't easy to do. But if one if going to invent a totally new idea, there is a large onus of proof to establish this idea, and this has been absent. 4.Nowhere is the issue of character considered. Samie emphasizes "overcoming evil with good", which is fine, and important, but how does one's character fit into the picture? How is character developed? Why is it important? How does the cross and Christ fit into this? The only thing I can recall Samie writing involving Christ and the cross in regards to this is that at the cross we were attached to the body of Christ, but my goodness, that pays short shrift to the importance of Christ and the cross in our lives, to the process of overcoming and developing character. For example, the idea that we are transformed to the same image of Christ by beholding; this is a crucially important concept. In short, Christ is missing. We need more Christ! Not just being attached to the body of Christ by the cross.
