it is truly Supernatural! We are weak, Liz. And BTW hello! ... We as Christians have had this supernatural seed put inside our hearts already. It grows as it is hydrated with the Water of Life! easier said than done Sometimes my heart is dry as the Hills of Gilboa! "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Math 5:11 “Blessed are the meek.” The difficulties we have to encounter may be very much lessened by that meekness which hides itself in Christ. If we possess the humility of our Master, we shall rise above the slights, the rebuffs, the annoyances, to which we are daily exposed, and they will cease to cast a gloom over the spirit. The highest evidence of nobility in a Christian is self-control. He who under abuse or cruelty fails to maintain a calm and trustful spirit robs God of His right to reveal in him His own perfection of character. Lowliness of heart is the strength that gives victory to the followers of Christ; it is the token of their connection with the courts above. DA 301.3 ...................................................................................................................................... we battle not with flesh and blood... Jesus calls us to love on and bless and serve the enemy of our politics and church and theology and morals and family and self and reputation and nation. Everybody we encounter is God's child. A candidate for heaven. And they need to see Jesus in us. It is a tall order! it is Supernatural. God help us all! # and the desert shall bloom like the rose3 points -

"Free Will"
CoAspen reacted to Tom Wetmore for a topic
I think perhaps therein is the essential problem. I don't think we understand how the brain works enough to even be able to define what freedom of choice, or free will, if you prefer or what mechanism is even involved. There is a universe of things between our ears about which we really have but the most rudimentary understanding. I am not prepared based on the current evidence to make any firm conclusion of where the boundaries are between what may well be the product of some physiological deterministic process in the brain and what remains more than a little mysterious as to why people do some really surprising and out of the ordinary things that defy any known rubric of rationality or predictability.1 point -

Ben Carson is and was not a theologian, and he is just opinionating on pyramids. he is not an archaeologist either. and is experiencing that force of media focus, criticism, and ridicule... and this is a learning experience. his ideas of sealed structures to preserve grain for seven years and correlating it with the known properties of the technology in the structure of pyramids is is a novel thought.... interesting. the media is munching on this with critical thinking and chewing hard. Let Ben learn...1 point -

God already tried once your life-raft story. He created the angels all good with Him, born in the life-raft. All they had to do was overcome. But one third of them rebelled, and we have had trouble with this one third ever since. So God learned from this?? When he decided to make man, He did the opposite. Every person would be born in the pig-slop slum. He would reach out to each one of them, clean them up, offer them life. The hope was that this would build an eternal bond with Him, which the angels, born as spoilt children, seemed to lack. Ezekiel 16King James Version (KJV) 16 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord God unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite. 4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. 5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. 6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.1 point -

A big problem here seems to be in understanding what it means to be spiritually alive. The following are synonymns: 1.Spiritually alive 2.Converted. 3.Born again. 4.Justified by faith. This happens when one believes in Christ, as in the following: John says that those who believe in Christ's name, who receive Him, are those who become sons of God (John 1:12). This is another synonym to the above. The magic happens when we believe.1 point -

It's a great verse except that so close after reading Maxwell's Servants and Friends and now Servant God (found for free audio at godscharacter.com) I like to stretch that bigger to view those who love God as friends while quoting Jesus in John 15:15 If we behaved thus while viewing ourselves as His servants (which we are also), how MUCH MORE (quoting Paul now cause he says that a lot in Romans) will we change to be like God when we find ourselves God's friends?1 point -

Ellen White & the Trinity
JoeMo reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
Yes - the Holy Spirit IS divine. No argument there. I Cor. 2:10-11 "But God [the FATHER] has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God." The "Spirit of God" is compared to "the spirit of the man". Only the "spirit of the man which is in him" KNOWS the "things of" the man. So - only the Spirit of God, knows the "things of God". The verse is saying that God, through His Spirit, is revealing His deepest thoughts - to us. Otherwise the verse gets confusing. It would mean that the Spirit (who is God) is searching another divine being (who is also God). Why would God need to search God?1 point -
Ellen White & the Trinity

I think I concluded that "the spirit" IS a divine person. The spirit is God. He is also called "Our Father". Jesus said, "God is spirit" (John 4:24). Did Jesus then tell the woman to worship the Spirit. No! He said the true worshipers would worship the FATHER. The FATHER, who is "the only true God" according to Jesus (John 17:3), gave of His Spirit TO His own Son, enabling the Son to once again be omnipresent. I Cor. 15:45 "The last Adam was made a life giving spirit." What "spirit" would that BE except the spirit comforter? Ephesians 4:10 "He who descended [into the grave] is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things." How would Jesus "fill all things" except as the Spirit, which lives in us, and is "with us" ? I believe that Jesus "returned" as the Comforter, WHEN God His Father glorified Him, and restored to Him His divine powers.1 point -
Why have we allowed strange music and noise and dancing in our worship?
Sojourner reacted to Tom Wetmore for a topic
To one person, making a joyful noise unto the Lord and shouting to the Lord seems but a bedlam of noise to those whose hearts are out of tune with what is really happening. Recall the out of tune perception of some at Pentecost... it is a bit hard to know exactly what cacophony of sounds were actually present to result in it being described as a bedlam of noise. Just like we cannot know exactly what the music to which the Psalms were set sounded like. We tend to ascribe our own tastes on such things and make some broad assumptions for our own frame of reference. The description sounded to me like a situation where all kinds things were happening at once and poorly performed without much apparent musical ability. Musical instruments essentially used as noise makers. And, Reddog, it it has hardly become like a Led Zep (sic) or Grateful Dead concert in any sense. Hope you can find a quiet little church to suit your tastes... In the meantime, consider that many do find a very meaningful blessing from contemporary music.1 point -

It is amazing how judgemental the media, and several in adventist become, not because of the significant difference he has made, but rather that he may not of checked out sources further on something he was informed of.. What does "Brownian Movement" have to do with Joseph's GRAINERY STORAGE BINS?? Your Brownian Movement comments must relate to Ron's talks about Noah's Ark and how it moved through the Flood waters? I'm guessing here, because you didn't mention Noah's Ark -- and Sister White told us that Noah's Ark was protected by GOD's angels, so how would that affect the "Brownian Movement"? But again, all that is a distraction from the topic at hand, JOSEPH'S GRAINERY BINS AT SAKARRA -- so please just look at the website pics of the huge grain bins, and could you please comment upon those on this thread? BTW, Ron Wyatt was not a professional archaeologist or a water-fluidity scientist, so you need to be a little more "reasonable" about what Ron said about various side-topics! Back to the GRAIN BINS, please.....1 point -

AliAgins reacted to JimTN for a topic
Stinsonmarri, yes, Ben Carson is making an error by saying that "all" the pyramids were for storing grain -- that is probably happening because some Adventists just want to be contrary to everything the worldly people are saying about pyramids -- but the Bible tells us that Joseph DID take care of storing corn & grain during the 7-year famine in Egypt, and all Egyptologists seem to agree that the pyramid at Sakarra was the 1st pyramid ever constructed by "Imhotep" -- who was Joseph -- and we have pics of 11 huge pits in the ground at that complex that perfectly fit the purpose of being huge grain/corn storage bins! So grain & corn WAS stored at this pyramid complex! You need to be careful calling Ron Wyatt a fake -- I worked with him from 1989 until he passed away in 1999, and I managed his 1st museum -- I shared all of Ron's documentation for all 7 of his discoveries with literally thousands of visitors to the museum -- and still, here in 2015, I continue to work with his material -- Mahoney Media has made a $2 million film about Ron's Mt. Sinai and Red Sea Crossing discoveries, Dr. Lennart Moller is a scientist in Sweden has also written a book called THE EXODUS CASE about those discoveries -- so unless you have something "solid" to prove that Ron Wyatt is a "fake," it would be best not to say such things against the man. Did you ever meet him? Talk with him face-to-face? Have you read his materials and watched his films? Or did you just read a few critical things about Ron on the Internet? People trash people all the time on the Internet, and Satan inspired all sorts of demonic attacks on Ron over the years -- and unfortunately people can still read those LIES and think that Ron was a "fake" -- BUT HE WASN'T A FAKE! He was just a simple man trying to do a difficult job, and I think he accomplished things that are a real blessing. All of Ron Wyatt's discoveries have TONS of evidence -- I know, because I've shared it all with thousands of people over the past 25 years! Again, I urge people to look at the websites I listed that have pics of Sakarra's Grain Storage Bins!1 point -

Mind you, when asked about it this week, Dr Carson doubled down. Two relevant facts: 1. The pyramids are 98% solid rock with a few small and awkward chambers. They're *terrible* grain stores. 2. There are actual hieroglyphic inscriptions on the pyramids themselves telling us what they were for... and it's not grain.1 point -
Dr. Desmond Ford a Preterist?
Gail reacted to Kevin H for a topic
Actually these are PARTS of the facts. the problem with this information is that it is slanted to give Ford worst name. While the problem is touched on in the phrase that he is basically a preterist who wears the hat of a historicist, and the cloak of a futurist, this is still an unfair picture. What Ford is can be best described as uncommitted. He tries to agree with all 3 camps equally. He is not basically one or another of the 3. You could build an equal argument that he is basically a futurist wearing the hat of a preterist and the cloak of a historisist. Or you can again twist the facts to make a 3rd lie about him that he is basically a historisist wearing the hat of a futurist and the cloak of a preterist. The fact twister who's article you are quoting from Reddogs does indeed have the facts. The problem is that he is twisting them to make Ford look the worst that he can. The problem with Preterism is that it stops there. Frequently, Preterism is a good starting point to learn the immediate context. (Granted they have the wrong time frame for Daniel). However a lot of people who are atheist or agnostics like to stop there and don't realize that they are dealing with the everlasting word of God who's truths you can cycle around to again and thus apply over history (historism). While it is NOT only atheists who like Preterism because it gives a local fulfillment. They are known for liking this approach. Thus the fact twister wants to take the unfortunate situation of wishy=washy Ford to focus on PART of the facts, to put Ford into one of these camps and the author has chosen to pick the facts that make it look like Ford is in the atheists camp so that he can slander Fords name even more and to let out his satanic venom instead of being a fair and balanced critic. I am NOT a fan of Dr. Ford's. We can give a lot of true and just criticisms of the man. However there is a difference between a man who has methods that we can question and disagree with, and twisting the facts to demonize him. I would hate to be in that author's shoes when standing before the judgment seat of God. Ford is equally a preterist, historicist and a futurist in a very confusing way that I do not feel is to his good. But he is NOT to be placed in just one camp and should not be inferred to be an atheist. We should leave assumptions about his relationship with God remain between him and God. Our job is to be fair to the evidence. This author has taken what is indeed facts but has twisted it to paint a picture of a man with whom we can infer does not have a relationship with God. This is unfair. We have enough about Ford that we can justly criticize. We don't need this fact twisting.1 point
