Well Doug men say slave and YAHSHUA says servant. Even to think that YAHSHUA wants us to slave is horrible. You have a choice to serve HIM. Slavery is by force and when one becomes a servant it is to payoff a debt there is a different. In Afrika the various tribes would fight each other. Those taken would not become slaves but servants to serve, after seven years they would become a part of the tribe and eventually some even become chief. Then their were hired servants as well! This really happen around the world in ancient time that why YAHWEH reminded the Hebrew they were once servants because they were paid for their service. The slavery that my ancestors were put through was the worst slavery in history, known as chattel slavery. We were treated like property as if we were animals. Now do you honestly think that ELOHIM want any of THEIR created beings to be treated like that? Satan wants you to be his slave and not a servant! Prayer is one of the mysteries of our faith that I do not think we will ever fully understand (I certainly don't expect to understand it in this life). I've always been skeptical of these "tsunami" prayers where the whole church is asked to pray for a specific matter at a specific time. Twenty years ago, our church was encouraged to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at 7:15 pm. If one couldn't pray at 7:15 pm, we were asked to wait until 8:15 pm and join the brethren one time zone to the west (or 9:15 pm and join those two time zones over). While there is certainly value in encouraging the members to pray more, and there is perhaps value in our individual lives to pray regularly, are prayers more effective if delivered en masse. Certainly back in the day of gunpowder and linear battlefield tactics (essentially from the 16th century until rifled muskets and later machine guns rendered the tactics obsolete), a volley delivered at once by the entire line was far more effective than each soldier firing piecemeal, even though the total firepower is the same in both cases. In a rugby scrummage, success requires all eight men driving on cue rather than each pushing on his own, even though the total force delivered in both cases is the same. But in prayer, is it really reasonable to expect a similar result? I've also seen members organize prayer schedules to ensure that round-the-clock at least one person was always praying without interruption for a particular matter or result. Again there is a military analogy - if one is trying to pin an enemy unit so it cannot withdraw, and/or isolate it so it cannot be reinforced, continual lower intensity bombardment is more effective than shooting one's bolt in a single effort. But again, with God are these tactics useful or effective? Children learn early in life that relentless petitions are often acted upon, as the parents' resistance is worn down - but this is only the case where the parent does not initially wish to fulfill the child's desire. If the child is thirsty and asks for water, one request is usually enough. Would God be swayed by constant pestering? And if God's resistance has to be worn down - like the Israelites petition for meat in the desert, or their desire to have a king - isn't that a sign that we would we be better off if this particular prayer request were to be refused? Maybe the value in these organized prayer chains has nothing to do with God's response, and is to build up the sense of community in the church. Praying with a brother is a far deeper bonding experience than discussing last night's hockey game. Committing to each other to drop whatever we are doing and to pray at a designated time can bring a group together. Maybe that's the purpose. I don't know. Perhaps I lack imagination, or my faith is weak or I'm just too cynical in my age. Please pray for me (but preferably everyone together at 8:45 pm Eastern Standard Time)

As anyone should be treated. Demanding that I accept a gay lifestyle because some find it right and good changes that a bit. While I don't see any reason to continually tell a gay person how wrong it is,or what a sinner he is,I see no reason for demands that I accept this lifestyle to somehow prove to you I am not being unchristian. I have not suggested in anyway that you be barred from C/A I disagree with you when you want others to accept something as right that is clearly stated as wrong. I don't see it as any different than the Sabbath/Sunday issue. Outside of church,most I know go to church on Sunday,some not at all. I can only recall a couple of times when it became an issue. Same reasons as here. God doesn't care,One day is as Good as another,I can love the Lord and go to church on Sunday. Besides we really don't know if the sabbath is the same as in biblical times. I usually let pass as it isn't my business when anyone goes to church or what they believe until I become the " religious fanatic ,God accepts anyone just where they are" at that I object to.

I agree. Trump has now proved beyond doubt that racism lurks deep in the heart of the republican party. Trump's race rhetoric has drawn out the GOP's most ardent and bigoted supporters. In the past racism was at the heart of both parties (I think Bull Connor was a Democrat) but clearly the GOP is now the natural home of the race bigot. Trump's capacity to speak those things that speak to the heart of white racism accounts for much of his popularity. I actually have more respect for him than the others in the race. I think he says what they think but dare not say.

This reminds me of the several statements by EGW about how Jesus was viewed as too liberal by the Pharisees and how they were the conservative ones. (And I get the impression that many reactors to this topic read the source article to about the same degree or with the same level of comprehension as the source study discovered most professed Christians do with their own source book...)

All I did was trace back who is fighting who. The Medes and the Persian are related and come from the Indo-Aryan people as did the the German people. That is not racist that is facts and I gave you the sources check them out. We all are related Joe from the three sons of Noah. However, when look on TV, or history books, in our churches everyone from Adam and Eve looks White! Noah, Abraham and YAHSHUA all look White. If that is not racist, I don't what is! Japheth children were not discuss in the Bible until the Medes and the Persians. The Greeks to the Egyptian medical book and doctors today take what is called a the Hippocratic oath. I got a good one for you what color was Hannibal from Carthage, or Queen Sheba, Rahab the Canaanite, Simon of Cyrene, Mark in the Bible and let's see who is racist. Look at the Republican party now. Trump is on a roll, why because of the great hatred that white people have to others ethnic people. Now who have the KKK, skin heads including the Tea Party and other hate groups. Trump is crying loud about San Bernardino, but nothing about those who were killed in South Carolina by religious Christian White hate. Religious hate is no different but he is smart he have all the hate people in his party. The Republicans did nothing when he started years ago about President Obama birth! Some Democrat to, he was plotting then and it work. Now the RP in Congress wants to speak out now against the Muslim. You can call yourself an Evangelic or a Christian but it means nothing by your action. The polls for Trump is moving higher and higher, and the smart one Cruz who is hated by the elite in the Republican party. He pick up crazy Ben's vote just sitting back and scooping them up. Now with this sadness, today something happened that also brings great joy. In 1982 I worked in Israel with the Jerusalem Passion Play and Nativity Play of Bethlehem. In the Nativity play there were 4 girls who became super close friends. Two cousins, Gehan and Mai. And two girls who the older sister of the one was married to the brother of the other. We became like brother and sisters. Now the one girl was only 14 but you could tell that she was going to grow up to be a beauty. Anyway I also befriended 2 Israeli girls from the neighborhood where we were living. One I was starting to go out with. Then due to the drop in tourism because of the Lebanon war the play closed and I had to say good bye to my friends. Then in the spring when we were to return for the next season tourism was still down so the company went out of business. I had to write my friends letters saying I was not coming back and good bye. The next fall I went to Andrews, and on the bulletin board was a poster for a class in Biblical Geography being taught in Israel. It would be 14 months after I had left. I was able to take the class. Sadly the one girl who I was starting to go out with was 2 months into a new relationship. But it was fun to see two of the 4 girls from Bethlehem, and when I saw that second Israeli girl from the neighborhood told me that she wanted to be more than friends. So we considered ourselves boyfriend and girlfriend, but with in a few weeks the class was over and I was back at Andrews and the following October she met someone new. But we have still always stayed the best of friends. And I was also the best of friends of 2 of the 4 girls from Bethlehem. After Andrews I joined the Army. In army training in NJ and at church I met a girl who we went out once or twice then I went to my permanent duty station on the other side of the country. That lady would call me, write me, make food and send to me and her brother lived an hour away from the base so she decided to move out there. As her brother and his friends helped her move she became interested in one of her brother's friends. Instead of telling me she called my first sergeant to tell me. I did not know her that well so was much more embarrassed than hurt. Went to the mail room and there were two letters. One from my "girlfriend" from my second trip to Israel, and one from my Bethlehem friend who had grown from a 14 year old who you knew would be a beauty she grew into being an 19 year old beauty. I wrote both girls telling them what happened and thanking them for the perfect timing of their letters. The 19 year old wrote back "I'm sorry for what that lady did to you, but don't forget, she's a stranger and doesn't know you. But you have been my best friend for 5 years, come on over to Bethlehem and let's see what can happen with us!" Well, I went and had a wonderful time seeing my friends over there again. While it was good to be with her she was more casual friendly and she and her brother-in-law were not doing the arranging that I thought was going to happen. Her sister-in-law, one of the 4 friends from the play had married a couple years before and had a child was taking time talking about how she met her husband. He worked in the bank and she caught his eye so he arranged with her family to marry her, so they formally met and married. And she reminded me that is how her culture was and that I needed to know about that. If she did not really like the guy she could get out of it, otherwise no. But she was glad that she had gotten a kind man for her husband. Then it was explained to me that the father of the other girl did not know about me and the plans that we were making and one week before I got there her dad came home with a surprise for her, and arranged marriage to a distant cousin. When he was told about me he apologized, but he had made the arrangements and it was with in the family and was too embarrassing to cancel. After I got back to the USA she wrote me one last letter apologizing for how it turned out, but she was glad it was not like her sister-in-law who married a stranger, this was someone she grew up with. Now I had stayed in contact with this family through her sister's husband and we stayed friends for years through him. In 2001 when I moved from California to NY in my unpacking I could not find their address. Thus I lost some of my dearest friends. One Christmas, about 9 or 10 years ago I was watching CNN. They were talking about Bethlehem's poor economy and they had a guest a girl with the same name as my friend who looked like her, but they gave an age that was a few years different from what her's should be. I tried to get a copy but CNN did not save it to sell. Wednesday night after leaving my late cousin's I stopped at the mall. There was a man selling olive wood carvings from Bethlehem. I asked if he knew these families. He knew one of them and told me I can find him on Facebook. I had looked for them a few years ago but did not find them. Well I looked and found a name that was similar (turns out it was his daughter). And looking at her friends I looked at one of their friends and found a girl who looked like my long lost friend. I wrote asking if it was her, and today got confirmation that it is! She is currently in San Francisco. She is looking for churches to buy and sell olive wood carving from Bethlehem hoping to help their economy. It was her who I saw on CNN she said she had to give the wrong age and some other misinformation to keep terrorists from wanting to do something. And she has also been on 60 minutes talking about the issues in Bethlehem. She is a strong Christian wanting to follow her Lord by helping the poor. We talked to each other on the phone. On the one hand I am in strong pain with loosing my cousin. On the other hand my heart is full of gratitude with being reunited with these special friends. It is like loosing family and gaining family. A mixture of the sadness of hell and joy of heaven both with in a few hours.
