    Are you a sophisticated thinker?

"sophistry" is not the same as today's meaning of "sophisticated".... words change throughout time. If they didn't, we'd still be speaking in Old English from the Anglo-Saxons, or Old Norse from the Vikings. Prithee, fere, tis nay a matt'r for uhtceare...

    The unpardonable sin

Did Judas know he had committed the unpardonable sin, or did the devil just convince Judas that he had committed it? Didn't Peter deny Christ 3 times? How "unpardonable" was that? I don't think that Judas betrayed Christ out of unbelief. I think that he truly believed that Jesus was the Messiah;and betrayed Him to force Jesus' hand in establishing his Kingdom. When that backfired, Judas was so upset he killed himself.

    The unpardonable sin

If you are using 'fear' with the modern meaning, then we will disagree. I see no reason whatsoever to be afraid of God. Judas, do we have an actual record of him going to God and asking forgiveness? The Israelite's, was God saying that because He knew they would not make it or because He was really mad at them? We often attribute our ways of thinking as Gods ways. My belief is that was the mission of Christ, to change all that fearfulness, misunderstanding, a God of retribution for every mistake that they had been taught for centuries. God is going to get mad at this little speck of dust in the Universe and turn His back on on the true supplicant? Not a very big God, if you ask me. Nope, don't believe it.

    Just Can’t Stop

Moishe and Miriam were out for a drive with Miriam at the wheel, when suddenly the brakes failed on a steep, downhill grade. "I can't stop!" Miriam shrilled. "What should I do?" "Brace yourself," advised Moishe, "and try to hit something cheap."

    Speaking of Identity Theft

Paper returns are all I've ever filed. They don't stop the fraudulent returns from happening either. In fact, the IRS assures me, filing online with a PIN number as soon as possible is the best course of action to getting your refund faster.

    How to understand Paul

Paul was sometimes hard to read long before 135. Even Peter had to think long and hard to get some of his explanations.

    Are you a sophisticated thinker?

Of course, 'sophos' actually means 'wisdom'. The fact that the Sophists debased that doesn't change it. I hope that my thinking is wise - at least as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. Thinking wisely does not preclude thinking simply: indeed, it is most often wise to think simply. But wisdom may protect us from thinking simplistically.

    How to understand Paul

As to understanding Paul, I would say read all of his writings before trying to understand any one point. I would also say do not read our present day preconceptions into Paul. Understand his background and education first, and then look at his writings from his perspectives not ours.

    more LGBT Staying in Church

It doesn't make this any different. 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.....Leviticus 18 Nothing can change me from being a sinner except Jesus. But to infer that what God is responsible for is the abominable condition of my fallen condition, is tantamount to spitting in the face of what He promises to do for the repentant soul. 2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil ...Luke 11 underlined mine LHC 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness....1 John 1 God is Love!~Jesus saves!

    The unpardonable sin

It's just my opinion, but I believe that if you are worried that you have committed the unpardonable sin, then you probably haven't committed it. I'm not God, so I couldn't say whether or not Judas was irrevokably condemned for what he did. There had to be a Judas. He may have been the vehicle through which Christ was arrested, but your and my sins are the reason Jesus had to die. If any of us have committed premeditated sins, have we not (at least momentarily) rejected Christ and put ourselves on the throne?
