He said that the ship would drop things into the water that would send out little vibrations or sound waves that would deflect torpedoes and make them go off course. But when the torpedoes went off the ship would shake. Interestingly enough, he mentioned that the ship was made with rubber rivets, while American ones were made with metal rivets. When the shock of a torpedo exploding hit the ship, the ship would shake but the rubber rivets would absorb the shock and damage to the ship was minimised. Dad will be 91 on Monday. We still enjoy his stories of adventure

We always knew that Dad had been in the Navy during the war on an escort ship in the North Atlantic. Today for the first time he asked hubby to search out this ship on the Internet. This is the one he was on:

Anonymity can bring out the worst in people who have forgotten (or never learned) the social graces of courtesy and respect.

    Ezekiel's Temple- a Picture

In a little book by eg white, she describes the temple being placed outside of the New Jerusalem on the earth made new. A place immemorial where the sacrifice of Christ is remembered, and it is filled with the glory of God and a place where all can come and enter and see. The throne of God remains in the city. No, the temple is not the place of intercession any more. Christ has laid aside His priestly role for eternity. He remains the third member of the Godhead, and the Head of the human race. He has a Dual identity forever. There will be a temple in the country and the throne in the city, both glorious with the unspeakable glory of God.

    Teach the people the difference

Knowing the difference between the clean and unclean (which applied also to homes and I believe clothing) as it relates to health is one reasoning I can grasp easily as a rational human. But I have often wondered if there are parts to clean/unclean that are a mystery, for reasons belonging to God alone, that we need to trust not knowing exactly why.

    Are you a sophisticated thinker?

    my advice for today...

First of all, I think what Pam is talking about is the defensiveness that we too often see in reaction to posts. That is either a self-defense or a misperception of personalizing something not really intended to be personal or something not even directed at the one reacting. Defensiveness is very often motivated by fear - the old fight or flight response... But more to what you posted, to some extent the "competitive impulse to win" in this context is more often motivated by fear - a self-defensive fear of being shown up, losing, having diminished reputation or standing, being inadequate, or being seen as less than whatever one is competing against. And that is not always a competition against the other person, but can be a competition against ones own self worth, dignity, sense of pride or vanity, values, or whatever. That is very often an element of fear of looking bad, being misunderstood, misrepresented, etc. Saving face by definition is avoiding losing face which also seems to me to be fear driven. I think there is a fine line of distinction between the person that refuses to enter the fray for fear of losing or being made to look bad or being embarrassed or feeling of inadequacy and the person that stands their ground and decides to fight back to preserve whatever or to win. It again is the fight or flight response. Run away from or hide from the threat or fight to defend against it.

    my advice for today...

I've noticed a big change in the tone of rudywoofs' posts from the distant past, a change that I really appreciate. Maybe we're seeing the real rudywoofs without stressors, or else, maybe the wounds have healed over. Comments do get taken personally, or are personal attacks, and then there's a poo fight which can bring out the worst in people.
