If we were to start a mass mailing I would have preferred either the Desire of Ages, or just the 3 chapters: The Origin of Evil, Why was sin permitted" and It is Finished. These chapters have the information people should be introduced to about Mrs. White's thought. Sadly too many of us ignore those central messages and are focused on the side messages of the Pope and Sunday.

You are still just beating around the bush. It is not even about us being skeptical. It is about you simply not making even a remotely credible case for what you claim. Of course we have been through this drill before...

What we need is to know God and the power of His love, as revealed in Christ, by an experimental knowledge. We must search the Scriptures diligently, prayerfully; our understanding must be quickened by the Holy Spirit, and our hearts must be uplifted to God in faith and hope and continual praise. Henry, at this pace, you will run out of time within Obama's term as president. Just get to the point of explaining how you see how anything in Daniel the connects to Obama's term as president. You have boldly predicted that Christ will return while Obama is president. What makes you believe that? If Daniel give a clue that leads to that specific of a prediction, it should be more than a hunch or rank speculation.

David, You said earlier that ozone is a greenhouse gas. Perhaps you should take that into account. You see, according to scientists at NASA, the sun's ultraviolet rays are responsible for creating ozone. Ozone holes have been opening during this lull in solar activity, and, consequently, despite other factors increasing the heating of the planet, the sun itself has perhaps reduced its share of the responsibility. I think the sun may yet increase its activity, and the earth's ecosystem having already weakened to the point of no longer maintaining a proper balance, will succumb to the plague of heat predicted in Revelation. I agree with you that the earth's magnetism has little to do with the maintenance of the ozone layer. In fact, if I understand things correctly, a weaker magnetism should permit more of the sun's harmful radiation to enter, some of which create the ozone. Certainly, it is the earth's gravity which holds our atmosphere.

We don't "know" for a fact, but many theologians and Bible scholars are of the opinion that Heli (mentioned in Luke 3:23) was the father of Mary; and he was NOT descended from Solomon. In Matthew 1 (assumed by many theologians to be the genealogy of Jesus through Joseph,) we see that the lineage of Joseph included Solomon and Jehoiakim (Matt.1:6,11). Through Jeremiah, God told us that no descendant of Jehoiakim would ever rule Israel. "As surely as I live,” declares the Lord, “even if you, Jehoiachin[c] son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, were a signet ring on my right hand, I would still pull you off. 25 I will deliver you into the hands of those who want to kill you, those you fear—Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and the Babylonians.[d] 26 I will hurl you and the mother who gave you birth into another country, where neither of you was born, and there you both will die. You will never come back to the land you long to return to.” Is this man Jehoiachin a despised, broken pot, an object no one wants? Why will he and his children be hurled out, cast into a land they do not know? O land, land, land, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Lord says: “Record this man as if childless, a man who will not prosper in his lifetime, for none of his offspring will prosper none will sit on the throne of David or rule anymore in Judah.” (Jer.22:24-30) If the lineages are reversed; and Matt. is actually recording the lineage of Mary, the same would be true.

Heat and temperature are not the same thing, and not all energy is heat energy. The Second Law of Thermodynamics is often stated as 'heat cannot, of itself, move from a cooler to a hotter body', but that is likely to be overly simple, given the specific heats of different materials, latent heats of fusion and vaporisation and so on. I think this is a little bit of a side-track from the main discussion in the thread anyway. Basically, the mechanisms discussed in the first post do not refute human-caused climate change because they are largely irrelevant to the mechanisms proposed as the causes of climate change.

One more practical demonstration of the sun heating the earth is winter and summer. When the angle between the sun and earth changes with the changes in the seasons either more or less of the sun's radiation comes through the earth's atmosphere and thus the drop in temperature in the winter and the rise in temperature during the summer..... I can't believe this is even being disputed. This is grade school level science.... And you guys think you can lecture me on science?????

You're so wrong it's not funny. Heat always flows from hot to cold. A heat pump, which is most likely what you're talking about, uses this principle. All you're doing is exhibiting the fact that you have no understanding of how a heat pump works. Maybe the least you ought to do is read the wikipedia page on heat transfer..... The fact that you confuse so many issues on this subject says your ignorance on this subject is high. As I worked with the transfer of heat for a living for decades I have a very good understanding of how it works. Here's a small tidbit as to how well I understand it. I have taken manufacturers classes on heat pumps, ACs, furnaces, etc.... My knowledge in this area allowed me to ace the tests given at the beginning of their classes--the tests were given to be able to judge the existing knowledge of the students. I was told more than once by manufacturer's reps that I was joined by only one other person in acing their tests in the decades they had been teaching technicians. Your little bit about room temperature says you simply do not comprehend the subject. You produce heat so heat flows from you to the room. The fact that you are comfortable one day at one temperature and another day at another temperature has everything to do with relative humidity and at what levels of the relationship between relative humidity humidity and room temperature exist at the time....

Sunday Blue laws simply restrict the hours that a business can conduct business or do work. They do nothing else. At lest in the experience of the United states of America. Yes, some of us have seen them in action. As a congregational pastor, I once had a physician who had Sunday hours as a regular practice. Under the Sunday Blue law of that State, the police attempted to arrest him and charge him with a crime. The end result was that he closed his office on Sunday (after some litigation). Christians are expected to comply with civil law and it is not a violation of God's law to refrain from doing commercial business on Sunday. Any suggestions that closing a business on Sunday, in compliance with civil law is to receive the Mark of the Beast reflects a doctrinal view that in not supported by the Bible, EGW, the teachings of the SDA Church. Certainly citizens may challenge the law that forces them to close on Sunday, but they must be prepared to accept the consequences of doing so. The above post is in responne to Kevin (wrx) asking:

If this thread was to be specifically geared at homosexuality, I would have placed it under that subforum. It's *not* specifically about homosexuality, though it appears some would like to make it so. What's interesting to me is that the basis of the OP was from observations of a very conservative Baptist minister friend who I asked to review the tenor of the forum in general and to give me feedback. I wanted to get the opinion of a non-SDA who would be sympathetic to the conservative members, and to make sure that I wasn't being off in my own observations as to how many current threads might appear to "outsiders."

The harlot of Revelation 18 says, "I sit a queen and will see no sorrow". The words parallel Isaiah Cpt 47 - the humiliation of Babylon: "who say in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of children'." It will not be ancient Babylon, that is destroyed "in a moment, in one day." (Rev 47:9). It will be a restoration/resurrection of "Babylon" in the last days. So how do we CONNECT ancient Babylon, with the "last days" ? Is it the RELIGION, or religious forms, that are brought from ancient Babylon into the "last days"? Or is it the LOCATION - literally @ the site of the ancient city of Babylon? I don't think ancient Babylon sat on "seven hills", or ruled over 7 kingdoms. OR - is the name "Babylon" applied symbolically to the final kingdom to rule over Israel (and the world)? If this "Babylon" kingdom sets up its rule AT JERUSALEM, then it would sit on 7 hills. You believe that Babylon - the "harlot" is the Catholic Church. Can you trace a direct line from ancient Babylon to the Catholic Church of Rome??? Is the religion exactly the same? If not - can you trace a direct line from ancient Babylon to the last days in some other way? Personally, I am not at all sure that the "harlot" of Rev 18 is the Catholic Church. I'm not absolutely convinced that it will be the City of Jerusalem. I remain open minded on her identity.
