There are two things that can happen with robots and automation: 1. They replace workers, and lead to unemployment: some workers have no work, others work two jobs. 2. They replace workers, work is shared, and all have more leisure time. We move from a 5 or 6 day work week to 3 or 4, and live a life beyond just work and resting from work. Both are completely plausible: the increased efficiencies of automation grow the economy. As ever, the problem, and the reason we will get 1 rather than 2, is the wealthy people with all the capital, not the minimum wage workers. Humans will never be able to outbid robots by working for less and less: they will simply starve. We need more creative problem solutions that lead to more equity. Ironically, this will *also* make more money for those with capital. Because who is going to buy the products and services if all the workers are trying to outcompete robots and barely have enough for a roof and food? Trying to solve these problems with the same solutions that created them gets us nowhere.

A sanctuary without Jesus is an oxymoron.

Sadly Jeannieb43 I've seen in too many conferences the current trend is lacto ovo vegetarianism; I've been seeing in so many conferences the pastors hired are new converts, if they have any education it seems to only come from Southern college. The multi-generation Adventist who wants to be a minister, especially if they attend one of our different colleges end up working in other fields. I'm seeing too many people hired to be pastors who are new converts and who started out doing a good job giving the basic Bible studies to their friends and brining them into the church, they get hired as ministers and work until burned out to be replaced by another excited new convert. But also, on the other side, we have a large number of members who insist on the repeating of tradition in their churches. They reject anything new and when the conferences do hire educated pastors these members shut their pocket books and start having home churches.

I think I'm developing a lactose intolerance also wherever I attend Sabbath services, at least in Southern California. In the metropolitan area where I've lived for the past 50 years, we used to have fabulous preachers -- those who studied the Bible seriously every week, and preached from various translations and various Bible encyclopedias, and fed us strong NEW "meat" almost every Sabbath. Then they grew old and retired or moved away. When I left there, to move to a new community to be closer to my grandchildren, I started searching for a church. Unfortunately, this area, filled with newer Christians and younger non-Christians, doesn't attract the serious preachers I remember from previous years. I'm now choking on "milk". I need some serious "meat"; and I feel hungry after every church service these days. Of course, when I read about the Christian missionaries of Bible times, or those today who travel to Third World countries to preach the gospel, I realize that God gives us the intelligence to study for ourselves -- to commune with him; to research the translations and Biblical encyclopedias for ourselves. I need to do all that for myself now. I need to spend more time in deep communion with Him. And actually, perhaps I've been placed here for that very purpose. Perhaps I should look for ways to become the channel for His word to those unbelievers all around me in this new setting. I can't depend on anybody else to study for me. It's a big order, but hopefully I'll succeed in bringing some new "meat" or even "milk" to somebody in my new sphere of influence.

I don't believe that a robot could pick a hair out of a hamburger, but then, robots don't have hair.

Maybe you could fax it in time for breakfast. Actually, that day might not be too far off. Send the instructions to smart cookware that you just add the ingredients and it does the rest. (Kind of like a what a bread machine does.) Buy one, get one free. But wait, there's more...

I used to think I had to cook the egg on both sides before adding the filling to make the omelet.. That's what always made mine break apart. Now I just cook over low heat, *cover the skillet* with a lid until the egg is just done, add the filling on half, and fold the other half over on top, and keep it on the heat until the filling is done, flipping it a couple times during the process. Easy to do when the egg is done.

Liz, I'm really only good at making scrambled eggs usually! Don't feel bad. I think I figured out the "trick" to this omelet--it's the size of the pan! When I cook at home, I'm cooking for at least 2 of us (usually 4) and my pots and pans are bigger. My grandma's been living alone for 30 years, so her pots and pans are perfect for making smaller portions. Alien, you got it! It'll be ready in an hour.

I'm not saying that the Quran teaches that it's OK for Muslim men to rape infidel women, that just what has been happening in Europe, according the news reports that I have read. Likewise for the article about Muslim immigrants taking over neighborhoods and having many welfare babies. I don't believe that this is occurring on a large scale in the USA, yet, but once the floodgates are opened and Muslims swarm in this country, we might expect that also. The Marrakesh Declaration may very well be reasonable, but that piece of paper won't be able to control hostiles bent on conquest.

Milk may be food, but I think I'm developing a lactose intolerance when it comes to this preacher. I do hope that those who love listening to him are "hooked" into looking deeper for all that God has for us.

Sloop disappeared in 2013 during a morning walk while serving on a three-week mission trip with a team of health professionals helping the Adventist Church in Kiev, Ukraine, set up a lifestyle center. MORE The first Hmong Adventist church building in North America was inaugurated in Oroville, Calif., on Apr. 2. The building was recently purchased with cash! Pastor Ko Saelee and his wife, Terri, started the Hmong congregation more than 20 years ago, and the group has recently been meeting in the Rancho Cordova church. MORE More than 100 women in India are earning 200 to 300 percent more than the average female villager through a micro-lending program developed in 2013 by students at La Sierra University (LSU) in Riverside, Calif. The Cow Bank program, developed by LSU's Enactus team, allows village women to lease-to-own dairy cows through the sale of the cow’s milk. It achieved a new milestone last month when the students purchased a record 55 cows during a spring break visit to the village. Enactus is an international nonprofit organization that encourages students to use their entrepreneurial skills to improve communities. The day-long community service event, sponsored by CREATION Health teams from the two Centura hospitals, included a 30-minute concert by MHA’s middle school orchestra.
