Yes, there are good parents and bad parents. And there are good kids and bad kids. But unfortunately not all good parents have all perfect children and not all bad parents have perpetually misbehaving kids. And not all good parents show good parenting skills and decisions all the time, and make no mistakes, nor do bad parent consistently always make poor choices and exercise bad parenting skills, no make nothing but mistakes. Same goes for kids - not all good kids are good all the time, make the right choices all the time, obey parents all the time, nor manage to avoid making any mistakes. Nobody is perfect and nobody is all bad. People, especially children, are inconsistent and unpredictable. Smart people do stupid things and stupid people succeed sometimes and do smart things. And accidents happen despite reasonable efforts to prevent them. My point is that judging this mother based on the fragments of information of the whole incident that we see and hear in the media shows unfair and ill-conceive judgment on our part, more than it does anything valid about this mother. I am very skeptical of anyone who claims their kids (especially people that are not parents) would never do that or that they have fool proof ways of preventing such things from ever happening. That is just another way of indirectly judging this mother as being a bad parent. And it is naive and unrealistic.

I was glad they used the name Yeshua in the movie "Risen". I liked the movie. It wasn't pretending to be strictly Biblical, but it really did take one back to that time, and the likely reaction of the Romans - searching the city for "the body".

Gregory, It seems you are trying to believe there is a DIFFERENCE between Muslims in general and radicals who DO kidnap and rape women, by calling them "wives" - even for a day - which the Koran (as read by some) does allow for. The Koran (as interpreted by some) allows grown men to marry little girls or even use little boys for sex. The Koran absolutely does allow Muslims to LIE to non-Muslims, in order to quiet their fears, or to manipulate them. Any lie to further the goals of Islam is acceptable. So how can non-Muslims trust ANYTHING they say. Mohamed absolutely taught the overthrow of every non-Muslim culture and religion - by violence where ever necessary. In this country they will immigrate and populate UNTIL the day they can exert power to take over. It's happening in Europe. I recommend the New York Times bestseller, "The Politically Incorrect Guide to ISLAM and The Crusades".

That's a great story. The caregiver life is a hard one. It's even harder when no one else seems to care at all and leaves the burden all on one person. I think this is why the Bible tells us to care for our elders. It is wisdom to know that the world is full of selfish people and that God wants His people to pick up the slack where others leave off.

Very obviously, this is a response to a particular development.. Not a constant and continual practice of initiative. I'm more interested in that forecast after the world-wide downfall of communism that the next enemy of the free world will be Islam.. And as the conquest over communism.. Eventually this same victory will be granted over (radical) Islam.

All that said, I think the zoo's changes to the enclosure demonstrate the real weak point and I think a very real cause of the accident that happened. They are putting a different barrier up. The design of the enclosure was inherently flawed with an obvious remedy quickly and easily apparent. The barriers were not child proof, nor child friendly. The first barrier was just parellel railings with gaps through which a child could easily pass. The next part of the barrier was bushes also with gaps wide enough for a child to pass directly to the edge of the mote. The child unfriendly part of it was that a child could not see the enclosure over or through the barriers, but apparently could easily see a way through them to get to where their curious child judgment could perhaps see, right at the most dangerous point of no return. Any zoo that designs barriers for their exhibits that a child can get through, which was the case in this situation, is responsible and negligent. And no zoo exhibit is designed well, if it doesn't anticipate little people needing to have a clear view without having to climb over or around anything.

Jesus is actually a mispronunciation of the Greek word, which sounds something like: ee-ay-SOOCE. There never was anyone ever named Jesus, as we all mispronounce it. I prefer using Yeshua, but usually write Jesus or Christ in my posts here. Someday I hope someone publishes a bible with the correct Hebrew and Greek proper names.

I must say that vegetarianism is definitely not a meaty topic. On the other hand, Levitical dietary restrictions is a very meaty topic. But the pastor needs to be careful when preaching such subjects if he hopes to get invited to someone's home for lunch.

Any of those topics can be milk or meat depending on where the hearer is in his/her journey and how the topic is handled - superficially or in depth.

Hi Lynndel, Thought I'd work on shortening it. But not really.

I'll admit that I've basically quit tithing, not because I don't believe in it but my funds are so low. Consider this, say I make $1000 a check and $950 needs to come out to cover due bills, how then can I give %10? My checks really are this way right now. 95-99% of what I make goes to bills. Other expenses, like food and gas my wife covers. So how can I give 10% if it's not left to give? Would God rather me just give the money and have faith He'll cover the bill when it comes due? Of course I know He can! But would He want me to do this...I think to the story of the women who gave her last $ in the Bible, I suppose I should too. Anyone else been in this type of situation?

I don't agree that the conference office is representative of 'the storehouse' in Malachi. The Levitical Priesthood and its financial structure and support ended when the curtain in the sanctuary was torn in two. Every believer is a priest in that sense and there is nothing that anyone who considers themselves to be a religious priest can do that can bring you into a relationship with G-d. The model given to us in Acts is "sacrificial Giving" which for some is more than a 10% tithe and others less, and for others such as the widow and the unemployed to be provided for by the church members. My feeling is that the New Testament is pretty clear that emulating the priesthood system into the Pastoral system of today is not in keeping with Scripture.
