How is it possible to keep your filter from filtering? True understanding takes time, thought, and communicating with more questions and answers. Many times I come up with an instant idea of what people are saying, and I'm wrong -- and I've been on the receiving end of such misunderstandings countless times. I'm sure we all have!

Ellen White wasn't in a position of authority over the Lord's people, including men? (we've actually been in a position of authority over men most of the time, but we've just been too gracious to let you men realize it.. )

    never thought about it before!

That's very cool! Things that we all know but don't necessarily know we know.

  4. The Bible is unmistakably clear on many points, but most people simply are not honest about the facts (both in biblical and non-biblical matters) even to themselves. God will judge.

Yep! But this verse is not telling us WHAT to hear but HOW you hear it. For me it is a window into one reason into why there are misunderstandings and different interpretations of statements. are you hearing what the person is really intending to say, or is the information being filtered by your brain which is coloured by its knowledge and history?

Was Jeremiah in a position of authority over the king who put him in stocks? Was Nathan in a position of authority over David? Were Anna and Simeon in positions of authority over Jesus? If Elijah was in a position of authority over Ahab and Jezebel, why did he run away from them? No, these messengers were not in positions of authority. They were ambassadors for God--the real Authority figure. They were spokespersons. Ellen White was also a messenger. That is a term she used for herself. When did she speak of herself as an authority?

Then why have you posted this in the Women's Ordination section of this forum? Every Adventist studying these things knows how crucial finding at least something from the Bible that might hint at an ordained woman, or even a woman in leadership, would be. That is why people endeavor to make something of where the mere mention of a woman exists. Of course, what you have said is a lie. In the Bible, it is not about ordination AT ALL. And here on this forum, that is exactly what it is all about. If "laboring together" means all of the co-laborers are "leaders," you may need to start writing your own dictionaries to establish the fact. Headship is Biblical, therefore it is not a heresy. God never once put a woman into a position of authority over His people. Jesus selected and ordained no female disciples. In order to endorse women's ordination, you will need good explanations for these facts, and for why they should not be used as examples of today's gospel order. In the end, you will be grasping for support from all of the world's authors, and rejecting Ellen White, just as the author of the article in the OP here has had to do. What substance?

  9. It's all the SAME TOPIC: What was "nailed to the cross"? Was it the charges against us - based in the Law? Was it the Sinai Covenant? Was it only part of the Law - the "ceremonial" Law? My answers are Yes - No - No.

All politicians know we have short memories

Politicians also have short memories Clinton is running against Donald Trump, not the Bush administration or the mistakes and wrong doings of that presidency Hillary Clinton had quite a bit to say on the Bush e-mail scandal as did others. Obviously she was not ignorant of the ramifications of what she was doing. Nor would it have been necessary for her to lie concerning Colin Powell.

  12. How was the "ceremonial laws" against us? Heb 10:1 For the Law...was only a shadow of the good things to come (i.e., Christ righteousness)... verse 3: in those sacrifices (i.e., the ceremonial laws - see Lev 23) there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. I submit to you that the "handwriting of the ordinances" was the record of our sins. These sins were "against us" and placed in death row awaiting the judgment.
