7 Myths that Delay the 2nd Advent
LifeHiscost and 2 others reacted to CoAspen for a topic
Enjoyed, agreed! However, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are delaying. Perhaps, leading into a wilderness where some may be lost due to becoming unbelivers. My belief is that the 2nd Coming takes place when God sees no future in delaying.3 points -
7 Myths that Delay the 2nd Advent
JoeMo and one other reacted to LifeHiscost for a topic
I would also like to say there is a decided difference between the imperfect person and the wicked, and I see a lot of wickedness in the world today that I didn't see in the world 50 years ago, although I have to admit there was a lot hidden in society that today is not hidden. It does seem that long ago, even the unrepentant knew certain things were wrong whereas either it is unrecognized or there is an attitude today indicating "so who cares". The suicide rate today indicates many care but just don't know how best to extricate themselves from entanglement. IOW they haven't a personal relationship with Jesus. God is Love!~Jesus saves!2 points -
7 Myths that Delay the 2nd Advent
JoeMo and one other reacted to Gail for a topic
It might depend upon whose interpretation of the word "perfection" we understand. Is ours the same as God's? Much has changed in our understanding of the Judgement the last few years, which has been exciting. God is FOR us, no against us!2 points -
Jack Sequeira - Teacher of new light or Teacher of Error?

Yes, but these works do not prove our righteousness. Rather they prove that our faith is genuine.2 points -
Clinical Ethics--what Would You Do?

O.K. This is what happened: 1) The family members were told that the aggressive treatment would continue until there was a major change one way or another. 2) The patient was discharged from the hospital, walking out on his own and restored to his previous level of independent functioning. 3) A son visited one of the physicians, on behalf of the family thanked the hospital team for giving them their Father back and apologized for the demands that they had previously made.2 points -
Earth uninhabited during millennium
JoeMo reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
Any of you historians out there, I would like to know of other reformation theologians, who taught that the entire earth will be the "uninhabited place" - "desolate and without inhabitant" (except for Satan and his angels) during the upcoming 7th millennium. Was this ONLY taught by Ellen White? Is it uniquely SDA?1 point -

Clinical Ethics--When Enough is Enough
LifeHiscost reacted to Lauralea for a topic
Samson was like someone killed in a dangerous maneuver in battle. He knew the Lord could supernaturally save his life but prayed He would not. He sacrificed his life to achieve a goal of the Israelites at that time , their deliverance from the Philistines. Similarly Jesus did not commit suicide but sacrificed His life for our deliverance.1 point -
Abortion...I would call this a theological issue

Matt 22:30 "At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." Matthew did not say that the saved would be angels, but like the angels. The point here is we will no longer marry. If we no longer marry then that infers we will not have children. If no offspring then we will not be male nor female.1 point -

7 Myths that Delay the 2nd Advent

Loved the article Gregory. Thanks. It's good to know there are teachers within the SDA church who "get it" - that "the judgment" is ABOUT Jesus Christ. Our "perfection" will be a long time coming. We have no idea how damaged we really are. It will take a thousand years in a "safe" environment, to bring perfect trust to our hearts and to heal every trace of the damage sin has caused. Some might think they are ready to "rule the nations". My answer would be, "No way!"1 point -

Even though we are saved by grace alone through faith, saving faith has transformative power. Faith without works is dead.1 point -

The Evolution of Biblical Hebrew
Unchained reacted to phkrause for a topic
Not sure if this is in the right thread? If not please move! Thanks How did Biblical Hebrew change over time? Was the Bible written from beginning to end in an unchanging language called Biblical Hebrew, or did this language evolve over time? In “How Biblical Hebrew Changed” in the September/October 2016 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, Professor Avi Hurvitz argues there are three distinct forms of Biblical Hebrew, each one corresponding to certain parts of the Bible and other ancient texts. I'm not accusing you of presenting favoritism. I'm just thinking that we must be careful how we interpret these OT passages. After all, collecting firewood on the Sabbath could get one stoned to death....1 point -
Are the three Angels' Messages Dead or Alive?
Martn reacted to CoAspen for a topic
Based on all of your previous posts, I can only assume that you are doing the sorting based on your beliefs/interpretations. I also question just who/whom is "speaking" to you as I find little of your postings agreeing with EGW or the Bible. just say'n....1 point -
Shepherd's Rod?
GayatfootofCross reacted to Unchained for a topic
I would treat a member of the Shepherd’s Rod the same way I would treat a catholic, baptist, a Jehovah’s witness or an adventist; with respect and kindness. It is easy to discover if a person truly is receptive to the truth, and you will also soon learn if a person merely wants a platform for his own ideas. In my experience outsiders tend to rapidly destroy their own influence if they are unwilling to listen to others.1 point -
Why I quit tithing

Since when does Mrs. White have the authority to issue "commandments"? I'm comfortable with sending my tithe to whomever is spreading/sustaining the gospel; whether it is the conference or a worthy ministry.1 point
