Just want to extend many Kudos to Stan the Man for starting and maintaining C/A. It's been, and continues to be, a great resource for keeping track of what's going on in the church, as well as providing pro and con's on current issues. It's also a wonderful place to read inspirational stories and thoughts. C/A is truly a world-wide mission. I think we've got a good group of members, too. We don't all agree. We get frustrated with each other sometimes. And we'd like to stick a carrot in someone's mouth, so to speak, at times. But I think if it came right down to it, we'd defend each other from harm....sort of like a "family." Thanks for bringing us Club Adventist, Stan.

One of our pastors reminded me that Oct 31 is the anniversary of Martin Luther's nailing of his 95 theses to the church door of the Wittenburg castle church. It is celebrated as Reformation Day. This year is the event's 499th anniversary.

Great clarity. It is not the GC that is holding the church together, nor is it the division leaders, union leaders, conference presidents, or church pastors. Jesus Christ is the head of the human race, and the Holy Spirit is directing the church, lifting up Christ in the church. Just as a medical physician is not in charge of your health, though they can work with the laws of science and nature to support health and minster to your health. Your doctor is not keeping you alive.

You are missing my point entirely and seem to have forgotten the narrow point of yours that I was responding to. The issue was unity. You seem to have a peculiar view of unity, and it's source. Do a bit of research in EGW's writings to see what she says about unity and its source, and what it is not. And what is being talked about is not rebellion. Rebellion in the relevant policy context has a very distinct and narrow meaning. This is not it. This is a matter of policy compliance. If policy violations were rebellion, we would need to be doing this a whole thing a lot more often, for a whole lot of types of policy violations. Most of which seldom even raise an eyebrow. And often they are just ignored. Variations from policy are routinely asked for and granted even to meet special needs or circumstances. Policies change. Would it not seem a rather extreme perspective to characterize a policy violation as rebellion punishable by expulsion at one point and later change that policy to allow the action that was previously not permitted? What would then become of the entity that had been expelled? Would you consider acting according to ones own conscience ( or that collectively of a group of people) and the understood leading of the Holy Spirit to be rebellion?

I thought the NAD already recognized Dr. Roberts as the SECC president. Who's paying her salary? (As an aside, it always throws me when I see LSU president, Randy Wisbey. I still think of him as a 19 year-old sophomore at Walla Walla when I was a senior. We were always partners for dramatic readings in our Communication classes. Can't get used to seeing him in his well-deserved position now 40 years later!)

The Book of Revelation is written as an ancient covenant lawsuit. Yahweh is the one bring suit against the other party to the Covenant with Him. The accused could not be executed without the testimony of "two witnesses". This is the role of Chapter eleven's "two witnesses". They give testimony against those who have set aside the covenant commandments of God. I personally believe the trumpet judgments will come during the 42 months (1260 days) (time, times and a part) that the "two witnesses" give their "testimony". THIS is the period of the "judgment". The word "judgment" can mean EITHER the period during which the case is decided, OR the punishment decided upon. We have all heard the expression "It is the judgment of this court". The "hour of His judgment" may be the beginning of the 1260 days during which the heavenly court is hearing testimony OR it may be the hour of execution - of the "judgment of the court". I believe the weight falls to the start of the time period during which the court is hearing testimony and then deliberating BECAUSE 13:7 says "Fear God and give glory to Him" and "worship Him who made heaven and earth". Those commands would be unnecessary IF the cases of all had already been decided. Same for 18:4 - "come out of her". The "hour" of His judgment" BEGINS when the heavenly Court of Daniel 7 is seated. Just my opinion.
