    The Trinity doctrine

    Sorry but no Pam, the quotes you provided do not fit what Kevin was talking about. And your quotes, example "In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived," does not fit either. Yes, in Christ is life original, unborrowed, underived. That is undisputed. The understanding of what that means is. And unlike 8thday, I do not see falsehood in EGW. I do see 2 beings. I do see 3 persons (personalities). The NATURE of the Holy Spirit is a mystery and no matter how many texts one quotes, it does not resolve the issue, and that according to EGW. I quote again, this published in 1911: The nature of the Holy Spirit is a mystery. Men cannot explain it, because the Lord has not revealed it to them. Men having fanciful views may bring together passages of Scripture and put a human construction on them, but the acceptance of these views will not strengthen the church. Regarding such mysteries, which are too deep for human understanding, silence is golden. {AA 52.1} And everyone thinks that they can understand the Spirit. The Father and the Son are near identical. They are not modal as Kevin claims. Is the Spirit also identical? We do not have the sure word of the Bible on that. From eternity there was a complete unity between the Father and the Son. They were two, yet little short of being identical; two in individuality, yet one in spirit, and heart, and character. {YI, December 16, 1897 par. 5} And who is to be worshipped and praised? The Father and the Son alone are to be exalted. {YI, July 7, 1898 par. 2} And through out the writings of EGW, when she refers to God, it is the Father. And it fits scripture too. 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. One does not need to buy into a creed such as the trinity creed. Which trinity? The modal trinity? The 3 in 1 trinity? I repeat: Men having fanciful views may bring together passages of Scripture and put a human construction on them, but the acceptance of these views will not strengthen the church. Regarding such mysteries, which are too deep for human understanding, silence is golden. {AA 52.1}

    When Church leaders fail us...

    Myron said below: 1) In context, the Myron was referring to a comment that suggested that in ancient Israel, prior to the time of Christ, there were female priests. 2) It is absolute nonsense to suggest, as Myron did, that something not found in either the Bible or the writings of EGW is an absolute falsehood. Neither the Bible nor EGW can be expected to say everything about ancient Israel that might be true. We know many things about Israel that are not found in either the Bible or the writings of EGW. NOTE: I am not saying that female priests existed in ancient Israel. I am simply responding to Myron.

    Thanksgiving Day

    #5 Staying home and learning more of the art of cooking and eating veggie, claiming Gods' promises. Perhaps venturing out, the Lord willing, to find someone homeless that had to stay out in the cold the night before and would appreciate a hot meal from a local fast food. …15He who walks righteously and speaks with sincerity, He who rejects unjust gain And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; He who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes from looking upon evil; 16He will dwell on the heights, His refuge will be the impregnable rock; His bread will be given him, His water will be sure. 17Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will behold a far-distant land.… Isaiah 33 God is Love!~Jesus saves!

    The Trinity doctrine

    Yes Pam. I'm convinced Mrs. White did come to believe in "God" as "three persons of the heavenly Trio". But that's the problem. In the Bible I do not see THREE divine beings. I see only God our Father who gave His beloved Son. God's son inherited His divine nature from His Father. This is one of the main reasons I lost faith in EGW as a prophet of God. I can quote her writings, but I read them just as I would any other commentary. I believe they contain both truth and error.

    The Trinity doctrine

    The word "sent". Why would God the Father have to SEND the Holy Spirit, IF they were of one mind and co-equal? The word SENT implies that one person is above the other in a hierarchy. God the Father always appears as HEAD, and above all. He GIVES his spirit. He SENT Christ to this earth. Christ then GIVES the gift of the Spirit. There is only ONE THROWN. The Father sits on that throne. The Son shares His Father's thrown. The Spirit HAS NO THROWN. It has no name either. It is never praised, and never glorified.

    The Trinity doctrine

    Sorry Kevin to take so long to respond to this thought: the pioneers in general did not see dis-fellowship on differences of belief as a solution to differences but evidence of the spirit of Rome, the Berean way is the only solution to differences. Today is not the same, now to be a none-trinitarian will even get you dis-fellowshipped for failing to teach it. This I know as I know of 5 people that have been in the last 10 years, and not for being rude or forceful as some from either opinion can be, in 3 different Divisions. Sure don't get where your coming from on the Father and the Law, as a Pentecostal Trinitarion for some that was a fact but under righteousness by faith Christ is the law unto salvation. I will read "Confrontation" as it is one of the few I have never read, so where in the Estate can I find the original you speak of as I have said before I don't have much faith in compilations, context always seems to suffer. Apart from that I have never heard of anyone coming to the conclusions you state about the temptation of Christ. So where did E G start to use God the Son and God the Holy spirit, a few quotes would sure put a lot of concerns to rest. I await your provision of such if in this book, save me a lot of reading.

    Are the three Angels' Messages Dead or Alive?

    " Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:11-12) "After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. (Mark 16:19-20) "Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles." (Acts 2:43) " I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ." (Rom. 15:18-19) The age of miracles continues today. It did NOT end with the apostles. Me may not get a miracle every time we ask for one; but by asking we will get (and see) more miracles as we ask for them and look for them. At my age, being able to transform from horizontal to vertical every day feels like a miracle !

    would Jesus have fellowshipped with Donald Trump?

    How did Christ come to seek and save the lost.....by staying away from them as far as he could get? Nope. He came to earth....or so the Bible says. What more proof do we need about who He would associate with?

    The Trinity doctrine

    On November 14, Rachel said, below: 1) I need to be very careful here. Rachel's comment was made in a specific context. It should be considered in that context. 2) I will suggest that her comment raises the issue as to what is the role and function of the Holy Spirit. But, to do so may go outside of the context in which Rachel made her comment. So, as you read my following comments, please realize that they may (?) lie outside of the context in which Rachel made her statement. 3) I will suggest that John 14 lays out the role and function of the Holy Spirit. The following verses present important aspects of that role and function: a) Verse 16, the HS is to be with us forever. 'b) Verse 17, the HS comes to us with, or is, truth. c) Verse 1l8, the HS represents Christ. d) Verse 26, the HS is sent by God the Father, in the name of Christ. e) Verse 26, the HS is overall responsible for our spiritual growth and learning, IOW our spiritual teacher. f) Verse 26, the HS is responsible for bringing to our minds, thoughts and attention, the spiritual truths that we should know and remember. g) Verses 17, 18 & 26, there is a sense that in the present time the HS takes the place of Christ on this Earth. h) John 16:8, 9; the HS convicts of sin. I) John 16:8, 10; the HS convicts us of God's righteousness. j) John 16:8, 11; the HS convicts us of God's judgment. k) For more interesting verses see: John 16:12-15. Again, Rachel commented in a specific context. The above is a different context and is the product of what her comment has stimulated in my thinking. As I see it, the above is the valid role and function of the Holy Spirit in the present time here on Earth. If so, the question now is: Do these roles result in another mediator being placed between Christ and humanity? It just might be that such a position could be debated. Let us leave that alone. If I were to say that it did place another mediator between us and Christ, the question be: In what sense does that mediation occur. I would answer it this way: The HS does mediate the truth of God in a manner that heavenly things may, at least in part, by understood by humans. That may be said to be a role in our salvation in that it convicts us sin, the love of God and the need to repent and accept God's gift to us. But, in no sense can that be said to be an active role in making salvation possible for us as that role was assumed by Christ and His earthly ministry.

  11. today's protesters are a far cry from the likes of Martin Luther King Jr or Mahatma Gandhi... Portland's protests have turned into riots on consecutive days, with vandalism and violence. Totally disgusts me.

    Myron, I'm sure there is much good in what you wrote. But most folks won't read such a lengthy post — it's over 5400 words! Perhaps next time you could divvy up what you wish to write into much shorter posts..
