the Jews thought by creating more laws, they would bind themselves by obedience to to the will of God. The idea we can make people be better by law is dangerous. passing more and more laws does not make a nation more moral. Church people attempting to express more authority in government and make more laws that involve morality as they define it.. will not be corrective to the nation. getting church people involved in reaching for the arm of government authority and increasing Christian legislation will not cause anyone to know God or cause our land to be healed. it's great for our vice president to say.. if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray.... i will hear from heaven and heal the land. what legislation will he support to bring this about. he represents government not church. this is eerie to me. He is using scripture as a Spiritual leader... and knowing the religious right has been working to control and use government to somehow moralize the country... by legislation... i cannot help but see the same efforts by the Jews and how it was an epic fail.. and they ended up crucifying Jesus.

While I have in the past posted satire here at ClubAdventist, I think a bit different now. Since the church is compared to the bride of Jesus, how do you think Jesus feels when satire is used against His bride? Does it fall into a violation of the 3rd commandment? Hopefully, this is not too simplistic, but could you sit next to Jesus and share the humor with Him? It is said sometimes "gallows" humor helps people to reduce stress. Really? Not at all, at least not to me. "sons of God" means the sons of the Godly living on earth, which would be the sons of Seth! And the daughters of man would be the daughters of Cain. Why would evil angels be able to pro-create? When God create man he said "lets make man in our image," which would say to me that when angels were created, they were not created in the image of God and his Son!! So why would we even want to entertain that evil angels could pro-create? Not sure I can understand that thinking!

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23-24) "No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son" (John 1:18 and 6:46). If no one has ever seen the Father, how do they know He is a flesh and blood hominid?

What she is referring to is the Gospel of Christ when His desciples and others asked what the gospel was, to care for the widows, less fortunate, orphans, those in need, etc. A state of mind, in other words, I have all of this so I must be blessed by God, those others are not! A rather common idea in Christ day.

I seem to remember a President who was a very self avowed christian and tried to act in that was while in office......he was pilloried from pillar to post.....but then he was a Democrat!!! Can someone tell when and where a nation who advanced 'christian values' through legislation or other means, was a freedom of choice/thought/action/belief/speech nation? Doug asked Why not? & What's the difference? That is not the issue that I have been discussing. I have been telling what the law says and how it is applied. You have now introduced a totally different subject. If you really want to know Why, go to the legislative history of the law. You just might find the answer there. If you want to know the difference, take a basic course in understanding the law. Briefly, under the law, the rights that an individual has may differ from the rights of a legal entity and the individual at that moment of time that the individual is representing the legal entity.

I would suggest one thing, and one thing only to you. Take all of your questions to God. Tell Him plainly about them and ask that He answer your questions. Then wait upon the Lord. Ellen White tells us that the honor of both the Father and the Son are involved making sure that your faith in them is rewarded. I have had many questions over the years and I've simply taken them to God in prayer and then waited for them to be answered. They have been every time. Sometimes quickly, and sometimes not so quickly. Often they have been answered while studying to learn something else completely and having both the question and the answer brought forcefully to my mind as soon as I read the answer. God never fails us.
