    If God Were a Woman

I had much to unlearn as a child in order to become a child of God, and among the five different foster homes my brother and I shared for that time, was one woman who, while strict in punishment, always before putting us to bed would sit us on her lap and hug and cuddle us before she said the final goodnight. I give her the credit for sharing the love of God that kept us both from going off the deep end and eventually enabled us both to become followers of Jesus. God is Love!~Jesus saves!

    If God Were a Woman

It is interesting to note that God puts This imagery from the first chapter as both female and male. Gen 1:27 .." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. " ..and it doesn't stop there (just in case some don't read that verse that way). We see God paints the most girly loving picture: Protective Mama Bear...............................................Hosea 13:8 An Eagle with protective wings over the nest ......... Deut 32:11 A Mother Hen gathering us .......................................Matt 23:37 and Luke 13:34 A nursing Mama/A Mother ........................................Isa 49:15/Psalms 131:2 and Isa 66:13 and Numbers 11:12 A Woman Herself! ........................................................Psalms 123:2.3 A Woman in Labor ....................................................... Isa 42:14 A Woman looking for her coin ......................................Luke 15:8 Imagery including Wisdom in Proverbs 4 and 8 as the feminine and Us even being "Born" of God is a feminine illustration of heart surgery! ----------------------------------------- Everything! The Mother or the Woman The Father or the Man are given for the symbols that we can identify with. For us to cling to and find comfort as human beings. Parables of the world around them ..given to the Jews/ Us. All the different names GOD is called. All the Symbols. All the Poetry and all the History and Prophesy in The Holy Bible. To get our attention. I should have added GOD is Spirit ...................................................................John 4:24 We cannot put OMNI GOD in a box! The Mighty Creator of Everything we see and cannot see. But..and this is a Big But ..BUT, for our sake .. pours Self Being into a box for us to look inside.

What happens when the Bible is wrong?

I took the time to look up the texts that the speaker refers to. He takes a bit of liberty in his paraphrases of God's Word. He apparently thinks context is not important. He preaches a clever sermon, but treats the Scriptures in a rather cavalier manner. The speaker apparently thinks that the slavery referred to in the Bible was identical to the slavery that was practiced in the United States. It was not. In many cases the slavery regulated in the Bible was better than the common alternative. We currently live in societies that have deemed certain types of slavery to be immoral. So from our vantage point of supposed moral superiority some feel free to denounce God's word. The idea of man-made moral superiority above the Bible and in contradiction to the Bible is gaining in popularity. That's why Christians are currently being accused of being "haters" for holding the same opinion of various sins as the opinions that God revealed in the Bible.

    If God Were a Woman

though God has abundantly provided for every need, does not mean everyone will choose to accept that provision. I am so thankful God knows my every need and has made more than abundant provision.

What happens when the Bible is wrong?

Bart Ehrman, a textual critic expert, saw so much of the human errors in Scripture that he became an agnostic atheist. We must not forget that despite man's handling of God's word (because God included man in the process), the Bible is a powerful text. It has the ability to bring men to submission to Him and change lives. It still is not an ordinary book.

    If God Were a Woman

I don't think of God as male or female. I use the pronoun "He" because it sounds better than "It". Still, what does gender have to do with how God loves us--especially when you consider that He loves us COMPLETELY as a perfect parent would.

    Where was the church ...

We have no way of knowing what was in God's heart or their hearts. God judges the heart - not the outward appearance. I'm glad you're not God, Gary. If you knew me, you probably would have written me off long ago. Have you ever heard the saying that "the spirit is willing; but the flesh is weak"? That's how it is with addictions like smoking and sugar. They don't think of it as "killing themselves". They see it as satisfying a persistent craving. Just because all of us aren't as strong-willed, disciplined, and righteous as you seem to be doesn't mean we're lost. We are saved by grace; not by effective, consistent behavior management. Jesus didn't die to make bad people good; He died to make dead people alive. God doesn't save us because we are good; He saves us because HE is good. There is nothing we can do to make God love us any more or less than He loves us right now. God alone writes names in the Book of Life or blots them out. I would rather err in my judgement of others on the side of mercy, not retribution. I believe that's how God looks at things. I could be wrong.

The Laws and Promises of the BIBLE

In the case of any law, at least two questions must be asked. (a) To whom does it apply? (b) when does it apply? (c) how does the law apply when circumstances change? We see this with our own secular law. Certain laws apply only to citizens; other laws apply only to immigrants; some laws apply only to employers; some laws apply only to charities; some laws apply only to children; etc. Some laws apply to everyone. Similarly each law has a "coming into force" date; some laws have a "sunset" clause upon which they cease to be applicable. Some laws must be interpreted to take into account a change of circumstances. For example, in the US, the 1st Amendment guarantees the "freedom of the press". In the 20th century the question was raised whether or not radio and television were part of the "press". The courts could have taken a "strict construction" literalist viewpoint and only extended this particular 1st amendment protection to printed papers; the courts also could have taken a "purposive" approach and considered emerging technologies as being part of the "press". Whatever the result, the mere text of the law was not sufficient to arrive at an answer, the provision had to be interpreted. Query: of the laws given to Moses, were all the laws applicable to all people for all time? Were some laws only applicable to the Israelites? Did some laws cease to be applicable after a certain date (the cross)? Additionally, much of the Bible consists of stories. When Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell all he had and give to the poor, was this a command given only to the young man? Are we all enjoined to dispose of our possessions? Are there any general principles in this story applicable to today? Answering this question requires interpretation. In the Old Testament, Namaan was commanded to bathe in the river 7 times. Was this command only for Namaan? Was it for all lepers? Was it for all people? How do we interpret this passage? Could it be that the purpose of the command was miraculously to heal Namaan of leprosy and that therefore the command didn't apply to non-lepers? Could it have been that the purpose of the command was to make a demonstration to Namaan and the witnesses and that therefore this command did not apply to persons other than Namaan? Answering these questions requires interpretation and an examination of the purpose of the command. Do any Christians who own a home or a farm deed the property back to the original owners after 49 years? Are we supposed to do so? What about the command to pay tithe to the Levites? Do any Christians still pay tithe to the Levites? Would we even know how or where to find members of the tribe of Levi? Was this law abolished? If so how and where? Were the beneficiaries of this law transferred from the Levites to the Christian professional clergy? If so, again how and where did this happen? In answering these questions, is it not useful to consider the purpose of the original command? Since God delivered to us His laws, instructions, parables and principles in human language, subject to the inherent ambiguities of human language, and since God delivered such laws, instructions, parables and principles in specific places, circumstances and times, I don't see how the interpretive faculty does not fall to us.

What happens when the Bible is wrong?

What you see is the result of socialistic thought and political correctness. He is bowing to the god of this world. That was a sermon based upon political correctness, not the Bible.
