The End of the Church # 1
8thdaypriest and one other reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
In a few days, critically important meetings will begin. Will these meetings signal the beginning of he SDA denomination as we know it today? The following article is the first in a series that discusses this. NOTE: Do not be certain that you know the direction that the series is going' See: https://atoday.org/the-end-of-the-church-as-we-know-it-part-1/2 points -
some mumblings about death and Tom Petty... Learning of deaths whether famous or humble private lives, reminds me of my mortality, and how precious each person is to God. The next moment in their timeline they meet with God, in one resurrection or the other. In between birth and death i have already spent so much time denying the reality of the love of God. I am certain God is deeply involved with each persons arriving and each person's passing. Death is the tearing of the fabric of life, the body, the heart, the mind. Is it a kind of giving of birth by nature of human life to the next realm? I know God knows how to walk His children through that passage. Dying can be in almost as many ways as there are people. I have walked with friends who were waiting for it and almost impatient for it to come. However it comes, God can speak to those dying and receive their final wishes in this world. I am so glad God is great enough to deeply and profoundly know every human being born, and their every thought and every dream and every experience of life and how to measure them and prepare for their destiny. Tom Petty had some great talent, lived and loved and impacted his world, and i hope he will be friends with God when he wakes up.2 points

I don't mind the news from where ever it comes. I don't usually listen to the news on the internet, I do however listen to it on TV and radio. Each one has its own perspective.1 point -

That was being discussed on Facebook- an observation my author/editor friend made. For him that was his reality, that Petty's passing hit him harder than the tragedy. When he said that I thought about how that would be a good topic here to explore.1 point -

Spliting, O.K.
phkrause reacted to steve9534 for a topic
I have read Spectrum sporadically for 35 years and they seem to take interest in every divisive and hurtful thing they can find or manufacture within the church. It would be unfortunate for our church, which was founded in part through the efforts of a woman, to split over this issue. I have had the opportunity to attend SDA churches on 4 continents, in many different circumstances, and don't I see this happening. Some people will almost surely leave regardless of whether women are ordained or not, so IDK that one decision is preferable to the other in that respect. Given that EGW had such a prominent role in the beginnings of the church, it would make sense to me that women be ordained at least in the divisions where doing so would not be terribly disruptive. steve1 point -
