Two aspects of the above post catch my attention: 1) The writer does not clearly indicate whether he is quoting what another person has written, or whether he is quoting himself. IOW, is he, or is he not a SDA pastor who traveled from Australia to the U.S. to study celebration churches? 2) I am not impressed by a person who while taking a position with which he knows many will disagree, writes under a pen name so that no one will know who he really is. God expects people to stand for the right, not hide under the bed in a darkened room, with the door shut and the electricity turned off so that the light cannot be turned on.

Interesting review of the book. I note that the reviewer felt the book's author put Ellen White as minor player in the Kellogg story and felt that the writer viewed SDAs as a mostly negative influence. Their sister felt that the brothers were very mean and cruel at times towards each other. I submit that if the two had really listened to what Ellen White was trying to tell them this hatred and cruelty would been lessened or perhaps not have happened at all.

Dr. Ronald Lawson is a retired college professor who has published much about Adventism over a period of many years. The URL below is a website the he has established where he will post some of his publications. NOTE: He has written so much that I question whether all that he has written will be posted. As of today, several of his writings are available on that website. https://ronaldlawson.net/ I do not agree with every position that Dr. Lawson has taken on Adventism. But, I appreciate him for the following: * He has struggled to maintain a positive relationship with the SDA denomination which at times has not been easy to maintain. * He has published on aspects of Adventism that I do not believe anyone else had ever published. * He has, at times discovered new information about Adventism. In short, if you are interested in Adventism and its history, his publications will add to your knowledge.

Note to all who are reading this thread. We welcome a wide range of people to this forum. Many of those welcomed are not members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Further, the members of the SDA denomination represent a wide range of belief on many subjects and members may not accept some official forms of SDA doctrinal belief. HCH regularly posts in this forum. He likes to specialize in End Time events, to include the name of the last President of the U.S. and the name of the last person to be the Roman Catholic Pope in Rome. Often his speculation has been wrong. It must be understood that what HCH posts on these subjects is NOT the teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination. HCH asserts that his understanding of these events is based upon solid Biblical teachings. In actual fact, the teachings of the Bible should be understood based upon solid, exegesis and that any alleged Biblical teachings should be considered with great caution that are based upon eisegesis.
