The LGBTQ Movement and Christianity
GayatfootofCross and one other reacted to CoAspen for a topic
The article never actually condemns being a homosexual but one could find reason to belive it is by not saying such is an actual state of being. It goes to great length to condemn the 'lifestyle', what ever that may means. I would presume they are speaking to sexual activity. A threat to Christianity, hyperbole! The greatest threat is out attitudes, dealings and inermost feelings towards others. Why does 'christianity' think or feel anything, individual or idea is a threat? Threat against God? Really? Is christian beliefs so weak that that they should feel threatened by anyones sin or percieved sin? In my opinion, my belief in God eliminates any feeling of 'threats'!2 points -
The LGBTQ Movement and Christianity
phkrause and one other reacted to rudywoofs (Pam) for a topic
As I see it, the most annoying issue with any group, be it conservatives, liberals, LGBTQ, religious denominations, unions, etc., is when any of them get in your face, and act as if they have the moral high ground over any other group — as if they and they alone are the chosen arbiters of anyone else's ethics or morals. It's not homosexuality itself that is a "threat" to Christianity — it's the ones on both sides of the aisle who seem to have a need to throw their personal beliefs in everyone's face... Lord, spare me from those who seem to get the vapors whenever their cherished pet thoughts and actions aren't seen and agreed upon by all.2 points -
The Shape of the New Jerusalem, Pyramid or Cube? (New Earth 7)
phkrause reacted to news for a topic
The length, width and height of the New Jerusalem are all the same, suggesting a perfect cube (Rev. 21:16). But there is another shape whose length, width and height are the same, and that is the pyramid. There is nothing in the description of the New Jerusalem in Revelation that requires either a cube or […] The post The Shape of the New Jerusalem, Pyramid or Cube? The LGBTQ Movement and Christianity

I wonder what else the author feels is a 'threat'. Threat-1 a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done 2 a person or thing likely to cause damage or danger Thesaurus- warning, ultimatum. danger, peril, hazard, menace, risk. If we use the above definitions perhaps 'they' are concerned that christianity will no longer hold the exclusive 'rights' to determine what is moral or not. Certainly they couldn't be thinking that the marriage institution is threatened, heterosexuals have done enough harm to that down through the centuries. Are 'they' worried that homosexuals are going to take over 'something'? The article makes several accusations of what the homosexual community is attempting, no documentation though. We can all find anecdotal 'evidense' to support out wildest fears or beliefs. Dosen't make it true though. I have a 'lesbian' aunt, granddaughter and up to this part have little interest in depriving me of anything. I know many persons of such persuation and have yet to hear any of them trying to make life for any 'christian' difficult or bring about their demise. Of couse they would say that is what they feel christianity is attempting to do to them.1 point -

phkrause reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Quora is an international forum in which people ask questions and others post answers. I have been participating since mid-January, 2018 and I have posted answers to 593 questions and my answers have been read 67,100 times. I was notified a few minutes ago that one of the people who post in this forum has just joined Quora. So, I am opening this thread for any people who post in Quora who would like to talk about their experiences in that forum to share them here in this thread. NOTE: I generally post answers in Quora to the following areas: religion, Seventh-day Adventism, Ellen White, science, biology, the Bible, evolution, the U.S. military and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.1 point -

Then the following comment made earlier was just gratuitous mockery! You may also consider the book by the same author (Goldstein) called "False Balances."1 point -

You would be ahead in understanding if you understood the history of the "Great Disappointment", the followup searching of Scripture by the "disappointed" wanting to learn why they were so "disappointed", and their subsequent understanding of exactly what was "supposed" to happen in 1844. Rather than pick up bits n pieces here n there on an internet forum, perhaps you could try reading Clifford Goldstein's book "1844 Made Simple." In this book he went out of his way to NOT quote EGW at any time and present 1844 solely from Scripture. (This recommendation goes for many here at Adventistan wanting to understand 1844, or at least the understanding of the early pioneers of the Adventist church. Unfortunately, even many Adventists seem to be lacking in this understanding.)1 point -

I thought it was called the "Great Disappointment" because no one, on that date in 1844, was able to "observe" anything happening.1 point -
Believing in Creation but Also in Science (Science and Faith 1)
phkrause reacted to news for a topic
One of the biggest challenges to a Bible-based faith in today’s world is the evidence we encounter when we take up the study of science. For one thing, while science has answered many questions and has provided many enhancements to our lives, it has not generally brought us closer to God. And it is impotent […] The post Believing in Creation but Also in Science (Science and Faith 1) appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. View the full article1 point -

Concluding Q and A (New Earth 8)
phkrause reacted to news for a topic
Why is the millennium necessary when the Second Coming seems to have brought all things to an end? 1) It is recovery time for the righteous. While there will be no conversions in heaven, there will be an ongoing need for personal and relational growth. Rev. 22:2 speaks of the leaves of the tree of […] The post Concluding Q and A (New Earth 8) appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. View the full article1 point -

The Godhead Symposium
stinsonmarri reacted to TrevorL for a topic
Greetings Greg, I listened to the first 34 minutes of the talk by Dr. Richard Davidson – "The God We Worship According to the Old Testament". He used the usual arguments regarding some of the OT passages in support of the Trinity, but in my opinion missed the OT teaching concerning the God of the OT. I took a list of the passages that he quoted, including Exodus 3:14 and Genesis 1:26-27 and on these I specifically disagree with his views. Kind regards Trevor1 point
