Holy Troublemakers
phkrause and one other reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Holy Troublemakers is a book in publication that will unsettle many here. It sets out to tell the stories of some 50 people, such a Regina Jonas, the first female Rabbi, in 1935 Germany, who died in a consecration camp. But, I suspect that there will be a negative feeling about many of the people in the book. Some, will probably be better served by not reading the follwoing: https://spectrummagazine.org/article/2018/07/10/creating-better-faith-based-childrens-stories There is a 2nd part to this article that addresses the spiritual journey taken by the woman writing the book and her husband. Carefully consider whether or not you want to read this.2 points -

Has Babylon fallen, has fallen, yet?
8thdaypriest reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
To set the record straight: The movement of the several threads in the Theology forum to this section, had nothing to do with anything that stinsonmarri has either posted or that she believes. Stan and I have talked in the past about establishing this special section for discussion on the Trinity. For reasons of my own, I did not immediately make that move and held off from doing so for a while, after Stan opened this thread. Today I decided to make that move. I will say again: My reasons for making the move had nothing to do with Stinsonmarri. As she has posted on this subject those posts have been moved along with others. Bur her beliefs and posts were not a factor in my decision to make this move today.1 point -

The Trinity
JoeMo reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
This section of this forum generated a large number of posts on the Trinity. It has been suggested that these posts should be collected and moved to another section that is devoted to a discussion of the trinity only. I have attempted to collect those posts and move them to that section of this forum. So please post there if you wish to post on this subject. It is possible that I have not moved all of the posts to that new section. As I discover more, I will move them. Thank you, Gregory Matthews1 point -

The LGBTQ Movement and Christianity
GayatfootofCross reacted to CoAspen for a topic
I wonder what else the author feels is a 'threat'. Threat-1 a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done 2 a person or thing likely to cause damage or danger Thesaurus- warning, ultimatum. danger, peril, hazard, menace, risk. If we use the above definitions perhaps 'they' are concerned that christianity will no longer hold the exclusive 'rights' to determine what is moral or not. Certainly they couldn't be thinking that the marriage institution is threatened, heterosexuals have done enough harm to that down through the centuries. Are 'they' worried that homosexuals are going to take over 'something'? The article makes several accusations of what the homosexual community is attempting, no documentation though. We can all find anecdotal 'evidense' to support out wildest fears or beliefs. Dosen't make it true though. I have a 'lesbian' aunt, granddaughter and up to this part have little interest in depriving me of anything. I know many persons of such persuation and have yet to hear any of them trying to make life for any 'christian' difficult or bring about their demise. Of couse they would say that is what they feel christianity is attempting to do to them.1 point -

The article never actually condemns being a homosexual but one could find reason to belive it is by not saying such is an actual state of being. It goes to great length to condemn the 'lifestyle', what ever that may means. I would presume they are speaking to sexual activity. A threat to Christianity, hyperbole! The greatest threat is out attitudes, dealings and inermost feelings towards others. Why does 'christianity' think or feel anything, individual or idea is a threat? Threat against God? Really? Is christian beliefs so weak that that they should feel threatened by anyones sin or percieved sin? In my opinion, my belief in God eliminates any feeling of 'threats'!1 point -

The LGBTQ Movement and Christianity

The LGBTQ Movement and Christianity (Its Threat and Our Response): Part 1 The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) movement represents a clear and present danger to the culture, to the Church, and to eternal salvation of millions because of its active rebellion against God’s design of gender, marriage, family, and purpose of sexual relations. https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/spiritual-life/the-lgbtq-movement-and-christianity-its-threat-and-our-response-part-1.html Came across this article today, am interested in any thoughts? There was/is a member who was involved and also said that this would be the biggest threat to Christianity!! From what I'm reading he's pretty close to being right on!! There will be 3 more parts to this. I will post as they become available.0 points -
Guiding Families
GayatfootofCross reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Lead Them Home is a non-denominational ministry that is dedicated to teaching Christian leaders and families hot to relate to LOGBT + individuals and family members. As part of this, Lead Them Home has produced a 150 page book: Guiding Families of LGBT+ loved Ones which it sells for $28 each with lower prices for bulk shipments. The North American Division of SDAs has received permission from Lead Them Home to print a "Adventist Edition" to the Guiding Families book. This edition is 71 pages in length. This edition is only available on an individual basis. It is not available in bulk purchases. Distribution is prohibited outside of the individuals who request it. Copying, scanning and posting online if prohibited. [NOTE: I am well aquainted with the "fair use" provisions of U.S. copyright law. Those provisions give some limited rights to copy and evaluate.] In short, I believe that this SDA edition is of great value. It is important It gives good advice. I can encourage all interested Adventists to obtain a copy (whatever you have to do to get one). After I have had more time to study it in depth, I will likely post more on this publication. I am somewhat perplexed as to the limits on its circulation that seem to be in place. Perhaps, if you want a copy you should call the NAD and ask how you can obtain one: 443-391-7200.0 points
