Father God, Please be with the family of Renewed-Faith! I can't even imagine the personal devastation this has caused - financially, physically, and emotionally! But You know. In Jesus name, please bring the resources, energy, and faith that it will take to recover from such a disaster. Manifest Yourself to them, that they might now that You are in control, even if they think things are completely out of control. My daughter and son-in-law lost absolutely everything in Hurricane Katrina; and were stranded in a hospital that was flooded up to the 4th floor for almost 3 weeks. There were people trying to shoot their way into the hospital to get drugs. When they were finally rescued, the were declared "refugees" and were relocated to Albuquerque NM. Talk about a "God thing" - that is where a majority of both of their families lived! Everything is great now - my son-in-law is now a pastor of a thriving church in Albuquerque. God blessed them mightily in a hopeless situation; and now they are thriving in His grace. He can do the same thing for your family. God Bless You and your family, RF.

I have been fascinated at the "models" given in the Old Testament of the story of salvation. There are many - Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham and Isaac, Joseph, etc. One of the more obvious models is that of Abraham and Isaac - a father willing to sacrifice his one and only son because he loved God so much. I came across an article by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn that made this model even more amazing: Abraham (the father) brings his son on a donkey to the place of sacrifice (Mount Moriah). The Father (God) brings His son to the place of sacrifice (Jerusalem) on a donkey. The father places the wood for the sacrifice on his son's shoulder. The Father puts the wood of the sacrifice (the cross) on His Son's shoulders. The son carries the wood of the sacrifice up the mountain. The Son carries the wood of the sacrifice up the mountain The son obediently lays down on the wood of sacrifice and is bound to it. The Son obediently lays down on the wood of sacrifice and is bound to it. The father moves to carry out the sacrifice, and is stopped. Here is where the model breaks down. The sacrifice of the Son is not stopped. Why? Maybe the answer is love. Abraham proved his love for God by showing his willingness to sacrifice his one and only son. God showed His love for humanity by not only being willing to sacrifice His only Son, He DID sacrifice Him. It was the only way He could save us from ourselves. In spite of our rebellion and sinfulness, God loved us enough to sacrifice His only Son so that we could be with Him forever. Don'e EVER doubt how much God loves us!

This might be a place where all can tell their stories as to what they have purchased on Black Friday: My wife if one who regularly exercises. She walks twice a day, 7-days a week if the weather is good, typically a couple of miles or so, exercises on a treadmill and may work out on a weight machine that we own. On her walks she will often be on her cell phone talking to people. She will do that if it is slightly misting, but not a down pour.. Recently, on one such walk, her cell phone got some water in it and that ended its life. We decided that we would replace both of our cell phones and with better quality ones and settled on a smart phone that you could dunk in a bucket of water for 30 minutes and it would still work. the only problem is, we did not want to pay the price. Our carrier is Googlefi, their system is like no other in the U.S. We had cut our monthly bill to 2/3rds when we switched from Virgin Mobile to Googlefi. So, we wanted to keep that carrier and to purchase phones that worked on the Googlefi network. So, we decided to wait until Black Friday to see if we could get a good deal and we now began to share my working cell phone. Well, on Black Friday, we purchased two new smart phones, the model we wanted, that worked on the Googlefi system and at less than half of their normal cost. We now wait for their delivery, activation and we will both be back in business and not having to share a phone. NOTE: In the United States two (2) different systems exist for cell phones. Each carrier operates on one system. A cell phone is made to operate on one of those systems and general can not be used on the other system. Googlefi phones work on both systems and also on Wi-fi. If you are using a Googlefi phone while moving, it will automatically switch between the best systems available, while you are talking. Therefore, you may have a larger coverage area than you would have is your phone only operated on the one system. This is true for incoming calls as well as outgoing calls. Some phones are now being built to work as a googlefi phone, but, in order to work in that way, you have to have Googlefi as your carrier, otherwise it will only work on the one system.

5 Things You Didn't Know About The Iran-Contra Affair On November 25, 1986, the Iran-Contra affair erupted as President Reagan and Attorney General Edwin Meese revealed that profits from secret arms sales to Iran had been diverted to Nicaraguan rebels. Arms Were Sold to Iran to Fund the Nicaraguan Contras The Iran-Contra Affair was a secret U.S. arms deal that traded missiles and other arms to free some Americans held hostage by terrorists in Lebanon, but also used funds from the arms deal to support the Contras in Nicaragua. The controversial dealmaking—and the ensuing political scandal—threatened to bring down the presidency of Ronald Reagan. A Staff Member in the National Security Council Played a Big Part in the Scandal It was then that Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, of the National Security Council, came forward to acknowledge that he had diverted the missing funds to the Contras in Nicaragua, who used them to acquire weapons. North said he had done so with the full knowledge of National Security Advisor Admiral John Poindexter. He assumed Reagan was also aware of his efforts. Iran Contra Was Exposed When the Sandinistas Shot Down a Plane The Sandinistas were a left-wing organization that was trying to remove Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza, while the United States was supporting the Contras, a group of right-wing guerilla fighters. During a shipment of arms, which were thrown out of a plane flying overhead, one of the planes was shot down by a young Sandinista. Three people died in the crash, but Eugene Hasenfus, who had flown missions for the CIA, was captured, and that led to the disclosure that the arms deliveries were organized by the CIA. The Iran-Contra Scandal Tarnished Reagan's Credibility Lebanese newspaper Al-Shiraa first reported the arms deal between the United States and Iran in 1986, well into Reagan’s second term. By that time, 1,500 American missiles had been sold to Iran, for $30 million. Three of the seven hostages in Lebanon were also released, although the Iran-backed terrorist group there later took three more Americans hostage. Reagan initially denied that he had negotiated with Iran or the terrorists, only to retract the statement a week later. Meanwhile, Attorney General Edwin Meese launched an investigation into the weapons deal, and found that some $18 million of the $30 million Iran had paid for the weapons was unaccounted for. North Received a Suspended Sentence Oliver North resigned from his position in 1986 and was convicted of three out of 12 charges connected with the Iran-Contra affair. He received a jail sentence of three years, which was suspended, given community service and fined $150,000. A Federal judge overturned the convictions in 1990, and all the charges were dropped in 1991. Eventually, 11 individuals in the Reagan administration were convicted in the scandal.

At the First Advent of Jesus, the people totally did not understand what was happening. I am convinced that the majority of the people of this world, including the church people, will not understand what is going on. I am not specifically thinking of the events, but the principles of what God is trying to do in His people.

Another interesting model is the OT sacrificial system, when the priests would offer sacrifices to atone for people's sins. This had been going on for a thousand of years. I don't know if they could see that this pointed forward to an ultimate sacrificial Lamb - Jesus. Nevertheless, when Jesus came along, they had no idea who He was. Our traditions teach that many of the priests of Jesus' era were evil - motivated by power and position. So much so that they offered Jesus up to be crucified. They had no idea at the time, but they were carrying out the destiny God had planned for them from before the foundation of the earth. For centuries they had been offering the blood of bulls and rams for the atonement of sin. We know the blood of animals does not atone for sin. The priests at the time of Jesus unwittingly offered up the perfect Sacrifice - the one that would indeed atone for all sin - when they gave Jesus over to be crucified. Yes, the temple priests of Jesus' time were evil and corrupt men. Yet, through God's sovereign will, they fulfilled their ultimate destiny when they gave up the Lamb of God to be the perfect sacrifice for mankind. I would invite some of you to post "models" from the OT pointing forward to Jesus that that have inspired you. Remember - it's easy for us with our 20/20 hindsight to see that these models pointed towards Christ; and show some understanding that almost all of Israel in the OT had no clue of the mighty symbolism of the sacrificial system. The faithful ones probably carries out God's commands without questioning why. Is that a good example for us?

That is why we were created with the capability of mathematical reasoning. Looking at the life spans of the various individuals of the Bible and doing the math we can come up with a reasonable close to 6000 year period of time since the earth was created. To me, anything else is simply to be in unbelief. (Unbelief being doubting the very word of God.) Perhaps a few hundred more years if you really want to stretch it, but do keep in mind that according to the Jewish calendar, we are in year 5779 which is even shorter than 6000 years. Year of creation - 3761 B.C.E Noted briefly your article, but when they disagree with the Bible, I discard them as not having any validity. I realize scientists are looking at interesting data, however, it is their conclusions that I find erroneous. So, who do I follow? The scientists or God?

Congress enacts the statutes. The Supreme Court simply rules on what the statute actually says and how it should be applied. As such, until and unless the Court changes its mind, it always gets it correct, regardless of whether or not we like what it rules. Sometimes it is better not to ask that Court to decide an issue because once it rules that becomes established law.

Know my thoughts

I sometimes wonder at the arrogance of astronomers and evolutionists who propose the "Big Bang" theory. Scientists are skeptical of what the Bible says and unbelievers in what God revealed in His word. One thing that truly amazes me is that they can "pinpoint" the age of the universe down to ~14.5 billion years. But then Christians start feeling like they have a problem as with "short man syndrome" and a bit insecure about believing this earth to be "only" 6,000 years old. So, they start agreeing with these scientists and eventually even start disbelieving in creation. They have fallen into unbelief about the very words of God. Simply put, which fewer and fewer Christians seem to believe these days, is the saying, "God said it, I believe it, and that settles it." Ellot Waggoner in his book "Lessons in Faith" took up this very topic and described those who do not believe what God says to be in unbelief. When He says something, it is done. He does not even have to add, "Make it so!" As far as the "straight line theory" in all directions to the end of the universe, that is just one of the many theories proposed. Straight line light rays to the edge of a room from a candle may be good, but I am not sure that straight line thinking can be applied to the universe. Among many other theories complicating any understanding are open & closed universes, bending of space-time by gravity, wormholes, the role of black holes in the universe, and many other theories. Complicating any real understanding of the universe is simply not enough information. But in my own limited understanding of the universe, I tend to believe the "big bang" people are the ones with the "short man" thinking. I tend to believe the universe to be old in terms of billions of billions of years old. Yeah, pick a number and add 18 zeros! But that is just a wild guess. Then remember that God was here forever before that. Sometimes I do not believe that people really understand just how powerful God is. Given that at the second resurrection, estimates of up to 100 billion people will be resurrected, instantly brought back to life. So, which is harder for God to do - resurrect 100 billion people or create the world out of nothing? Don't forget the fourth day where He put up a star (our sun) which is nearly a million miles in diameter and then the planets including the giants like Jupiter and Saturn with their system of moons.

I tend to believe that Jesus had nothing available to Him that we do not have available if we lived the life He lived. He understood prophecy, but not all things were open to Him. Otherwise, He would not have said no one but the Father knows. It is to me encouraging that everything He did and/or needed is also available to anyone who lives a life close to God in every way. True, He knew some things specific to His mission, but so do each of us have a mission.

Well, 20 minutes before we were to eat, we got a message telling us that two (2) additional people would be joining us--a mother and child. We welcomed them and eleven (11) people sat at our table. The attached photo is of my three sons. From oldest to youngest, they are Gregory, David and Christopher. Gregory is in the light blue shirt and David is in the middle.

I know I dont come here often but I need prayers for my son, wife as well as the parents of my daughter in law. They lived in Paradise, Ca. They had to leave their home of 60 years with only their medications. They had no time to get any animals they had or clothing or anything else. They lost every single item they have had. They are at a loss as to what to do now. They have no home, nothing. My son and his wife are helping them as much as they can. The parents even picked up another very elderly couple who have disabilities too. My son was paying for both hotel rooms and are providing as much help as they can. It has been devastating to everyone in the town of Paradise. The town is basically non-existent. The only way they knew their home was gone for real was a picture a press person took as they walked the devastation there. The mailbox was the only thing left and it still had the house numbers on it. So, please, even though I hardly come here, please pray for my sons in-laws as well as everyone who lived in Paradise.
