No, Christianity Doesn’t Need To Endorse Homosexuality To Grow

This is an interesting article for many reasons, not just the homosexual angle. No, Christianity Doesn’t Need To Endorse Homosexuality To Grow ... the number of adults attending liberalizing mainline churches has tanked precipitously from 35 percent of the American population in 1972 to 12 percent in 2016. The Harvard/Indiana University research also shows that the churches that take the Bible as the reliable word of God are doing very well. Research conducted jointly at Columbia University and the University of California at Los Angeles by scholars who are not shy about supporting gay politics found that gay- and lesbian-identified people are 2.5 times more likely to attend churches that took a more conservative view on Christianity (including homosexuality) than the so-called “welcoming and affirming” congregations that celebrate it. The authors of this study were paternalistically perplexed about why same-sex-attracted people would choose churches that they assumptively described as having a “hostile social environment to LGB individuals,” as if such people don’t know what’s good for them. Well, maybe same-sex-attracted individuals find such churches are indeed not hostile or hateful. So much for how conservative churches are unwelcoming to homosexuals! People seeking Christ are not looking for a scripture-denying church. They want the real thing, not in spite of it making real demands upon them and teaching the scriptures as they are, but very likely because of it. It seems that people often want to be held accountable for their behaviors. https://thefederalist.com/2019/05/06/no-christianity-doesnt-need-endorse-homosexuality-grow/1 point -

The article had several studies listed. Some were behind abstracts with a hefty buy the article fee. And there were more than one book references. So, this author in writing his opinion used multiple sources to arrive at his conclusion. So, if one study only mentioned homosexual one time, it is irrelevant. Read the other sources.1 point -
The Dark Day... brought about by forest fire?
JoeMo reacted to stinsonmarri for a topic
I don't want anyone to think that I believe that other beings would ever come here! I do believe that Satan has men to think that way when fallen angels are used to deceive us. Keep in mind those who allowed out of prison where they are bound. Satan is the only one who is allowed to roam freely for now. I also have these writers who are well known that have a lot of truth but the dates are off. We have demonstrated with a substantial body of evidence that the pattern of stars that is "frozen" on the ground at Giza in the form of the three pyramids and the Sphinx represents the disposition of the constellations of Orion and Leo as they looked at the moment of sunrise on the spring equinox during the astronomical "Age of Leo" (i.e., the epoch in which the Sun was "housed" by Leo on the spring equinox.) Like all processional ages, this was a 2,160-year period. It is generally calculated to have fallen between the Gregorian calendar dates of 10,970 and 8810 BC. The Mars Mystery Hancock, Graham; Bauval, Robert; Grigsby, John I do not understand why those who claim to serve THE MOST HIGH believe in the Gregorian calendar-this was made by pope folks! YAHWEH from the beginning gave a lunar/solar calendar and these finds were base on that calendar. The Gregorian calendar and our carbon dating are off! Not only temples, even the painted hill caves, ancient forts, and river docks have been placed and constructed in accordance with the location of individual stars and with outlines of constellations that have related shapes or star-lore. Individual monuments have corresponding stars, and as a group, they form a similar pattern on the ground as they do in the sky above. The star-temple correlation is centered on the constellation of Orion, which is reproduced in its entirety. Tarakka: Ancient Monuments of Bhubaneswar as Reflections of Stars By Deepak Bhattacharya 1 & P. C. Naik 2 Edited by Sharif Sakr I can take you back to the Sumerians who formed the first language using clay tablets. One of the largest libraries finds in the world! They had already map Orion! Now I believe in order to get to where there is no time and also where Heaven is located is through Orion's belt! YAHWEH did allow our ancient ancestors to get through it, but they were up and close and that's why THEY came down and stop our ancient ancestors and said: And YAHWEH said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Gen 11:6 I believe the Bible and Nimrod made his empire on earth and also they like today targeted another place, in case of another catastrophe. Satan used this man and his name has been spread all over the earth and in the constellations! I believe that YAHWEH had to stop them because human beings along with Satan was out of control and this is about to happen again for the very last time! The beast is being well groom by Satan and I urge all of you, to understand who the image is that came to life!!! Signs I repeat were given to prepare the righteous for the Time of Trouble and the work of reaping the harvest before the beast, the image, and the false prophet will be released. Notice, the beast and the false prophet were cast in the Lake of Fire. What happen to the image, again it became alive it was not in the Lake of Fire! I will end by going back to the topic of the dark days, believe that it happened just like the Bible said. The animals and the moon proved that it did! Yes, as lighting comes from the east to the west, YAHSHUA will come even more powerful and every eye will see HIM! Things are taken place today which also are signs that show our time is almost up. The harvest of souls must be completed and the church will not get it done, the remnant will! Will you be among the chosen who will reap the harvest of souls, I pray I will what about you. Signs do not lie! Blessings!1 point -

Here's the study itself. I always try to go to the source: https://www.sociologicalscience.com/download/vol-4/november/SocSci_v4_686to700.pdf The word 'homosexuality' appears exactly one time in the manuscript, and that's in the title of a reference. This study is not about homosexuality. It basically says "Those who are intensely religious tend to remain religious, those who are moderately religious are more likely to leave religion". I'm not sure that's a particularly surprising finding. And it's not about homosexuality or the acceptance of same.1 point -

5 Facts About the Sinking of The Lusitania On the afternoon of May 7, 1915, the British ocean liner Lusitania was torpedoed without warning by a German submarine off the south coast of Ireland. Here are five things you probably didn't know about the sinking of the Lusitania... The Lusitania Was Briefly the World's Largest Passenger Ship The Lusitania was around for a long time before her sinking; her maiden voyage was actually in 1907, so people knew her as a fast and tough ship that could get people across the sea efficiently. When she was initially launched, she was also the largest passenger ship in the world. That didn't last long; the Mauretania, her "running mate" or paired ship that offered similar travel schedules, was soon launched, taking that title away from the Lusitania. The German Embassy (in the U.S.) Printed a Warning a Month Before the Ship Set off on Its Last Journey The German embassy took an unusual step a month before the Lusitania's last voyage. It placed newspaper ads reminding the U.S. public that a war was on in Europe and that trans-Atlantic voyages could be subject to danger. The ad specifically named the waters around the UK as a danger zone and basically threatened any ship in that area. The Ship Was Gone in Less Than 18 Minutes The ship was hit in just the right way to make it list severely to one side, preventing lifeboats from launching. Adding to the problem, the ship's boilers exploded after the attack, leading to a very fast sinking. While the ship was yet another that people had considered invincible, the list to one side and the damaged boilers affected the ship so badly that the ship took on too much water, too quickly. It took only 18 minutes for the entire boat to sink. The Attack on the Ship Was a Major Factor in Getting the U.S. to Join the War Almost 1,200 people died as a result of the attack, including 128 Americans. You can imagine the outcry over the sinking of a passenger ship, despite Germany's claims that it was acting as more than just a passenger ship. While the sinking of the Lusitania didn't lead immediately to the U.S. joining -- and in fact, it led to Germany reducing attacks in the zone (not eliminating them; another liner was sunk later that year) -- it did make the U.S. public angry with Germany and began the slow march toward the U.S. joining the war in 1917 after the Germans sank yet another liner, the Housatonic. The Ship Was the Subject of a Pretty Nasty Conspiracy Theory By now it's not unusual to hear about conspiracy theories surrounding a disaster. In the case of the Lusitania, however, the theories were rather nasty given the surrounding situation: They focused on the possibility that the ship might have been deliberately put in harm's way and sabotaged to make it sink faster, all to get the U.S. to join the war. The main theory states that the British wanted to get the heavily isolationist U.S. to finally join their side in the devastating conflict and rigged the ship to sink fast. The quick demise, the fact that it took only one torpedo to cause such damage, and even the fact that the ship took such a dangerous route all bolstered the theory. But historians have been quick to note that the ship was, at the time, considered so fast and modern that the thinking was that it could outrun trouble.1 point -
The Closing of a Texas Church

BWP Waggoner, Andreason, and Douglass are unreliable sources of Biblical truth. EGW wrote extensively and much of what she said is poorly understood; consequently, I would place her in the same camp, with certain reservations. That leaves us with the Bible, which is really the best source. Forget what Waggoner, EGW, Andreason and Douglass said. Read Scripture and look for explanations of difficulty within the context, both immediate and larger. Most people display very poor reading comprehension skills. That is the main problem. Outside influences obscure the plain meaning of the text. There is a fake pastor running around the denomination right now. By fake, I mean no ordination or credential or church plant. His particular problem is that EGW dominates his interpretation of Scripture to the point that he murders it to prove "LGT." You sure messed up on quoting and are attributing things to people they did not say! However, you can have your opinion on writers such as White, Waggoner, Andreason, and Douglass. All yours! However, I will read and find interesting and illuminating works were I wish. The fact that EGW is poorly understood is not her fault. The Bible is poorly understood by most of the world, but it is not thrown out. The fact that people study so little and understand so little is not the problem of the different writers. Also, don't really need pointers on how to study Scripture. The fake pastor is not really helpful as we do not know who to compare to what we may already know. So, it is just thrown in someone is messing up out there. But we already knew people are doing that!1 point
