    Who's fooling who?

HCH, the way you interpret Biblical prophecy is to read the morning newspaper, and watch the evening TV news, to see if you can attach some tidbit to some Biblical phrase. To sum up in one word: Eisegesis. You could be a classic illustration of that word, to be used in a class.

I agree that this forum is well run. Not only the administration but those who post, lack the misguided zeal, bigotry and various other "qualities" which make the "ignore" option such a blessing. If posters on certain other forums took their attitudes and communication style into a bar or a public park, they'd have their teeth kicked in.

Papacy Stumbles but does not Fall

The Biblical Sabbath is much more than either worship or work. Unfortunately we have often made is simply worship and work. This is wrong and a failure to understand what the Sabbath is about.

Gustave, There are a number of issues regarding Sabbath in NT times that should be considered. I addressed one in my opening post. No question that Sunday keeping has a very early origin. Rather than making a lot of spurious explanations regarding the Sabbath texts in the NT, it's likely better to simply admit that there was an existing Sabbath/Sunday controversy in NT times. The the Jews being expelled from Rome , leaving a largely Gentile congregation without a strong Sabbath tradition, certainly lends itself to a scenario with potential conflict when the Jews returned. It is also very possible that Paul did not emphasize Sabbath observance in his ministry to the Gentiles. The big thing for him was Christ and him crucified, the resurrection, brotherly kindness, the making of one blood of all nations. The SDA apologetic regarding the Sabbath texts in the NT, mostly negative ones, does not really bear scrutiny. To suggest that Paul was only referencing Jewish Sabbaths beside the weekly Sabbath or that the observance of days didn't include the Sabbath, is largely unbelievable. This doesn't mean that the Sabbath was changed by apostolic authority. The Sabbath was blessed in Creation and has never been "unblessed." Sunday was never blessed by God like the Sabbath. Even if the NT church met on Sunday for fellowship and teaching, it doesn't undue the sacredness of the 7th day Sabbath

    Trivia

5 Things To Know About The Chappaquiddick Scandal On July 18, 1969, a car driven by Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., plunged off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island near Martha's Vineyard. Here are 5 surprising things you didn't know about the tragedy which left one woman dead... Kopechne Decided to Head to Chappaquiddick at the Last Minute Mary Jo Kopechne’s cousin, 78-year-old Georgetta Potoski, said the young woman wasn’t supposed to go to Chappaquiddick for the weekend because of a previous New Orleans work obligation. The get-together at Chappaquiddick was being held as a reunion for campaign workers who had been involved in the presidential run of Robert F. Kennedy. However, Kopechne wanted to see friends there that she had worked with on Robert Kennedy’s campaign, so she changed her plans about going to New Orleans. Kopechne Was One of the Girls in the Boiler Room The boiler room girls, as they were called, all worked on the presidential campaign of Robert Kennedy and were accomplished women whose job was gathering information from different areas of the country and researching the delegates to the convention. Kopechne was present at the Ambassador Hotel the night that Robert Kennedy was killed, and she was on the funeral train that transported his body to Arlington National Cemetery. It Was Hours Before the Accident Was Reported Senator Kennedy had reportedly left shortly after 11 p.m. with Kopechne, 28, in his Olds Delmont 88. The car went from a paved to dirt road, crashed through a guardrail and ended up on its roof under water, however, Kennedy got out and reported that he had made repeated dives to locate Kopechne but did not succeed. He did not notify the police in Edgartown of the incident until 9:45 a.m., which was around 10 hours after the accident occurred. Kennedy’s Sentence Was Suspended Kennedy was never charged with the death of the young woman but pleaded guilty to leaving the accident scene. The judge, James Boyle, sentenced the Senator to two months, which was the minimum, but suspended that sentence. In a statement by the judge, he said that Kennedy had been and would continue to suffer punishment and that justice had been satisfied. It Probably Influenced Kennedy’s Decision to Not Run for President Kennedy asked his constituents if he should resign from the Senate following the incident at Chappaquiddick, but he was encouraged to continue. Kennedy did run for president during the 1980 election, but lost in the primary to Jimmy Carter, who was the incumbent, by a substantial margin. Carter subsequently lost the presidential election to Ronald Reagan.

I don't agree, either. But - as you stated: So what existed before "time" (or the reckoning of time)? Eternity, correct? So in that sense, Jesus existed before time began. I believe that the "wisdom" described it Proverbs 8 is actually Jesus. "“The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth. I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind." (Prov. 8:22-31) Notice that the above speaks nothing about "wisdom" being created. I perused all English translations, and the term "created" is never used. The terms "brought forth", "born", and "begotten" are used. All of those terms imply that jesus is the same substance as the Father - "God stuff". And since Jesus was brought forth before the reckoning of time, in that sense, He was 'brought forth" in eternity.

Stan and Gregory operate a well oiled machine with this Forum. Initially I didn't think I would last very long here but I'm glad I was incorrect about that. Running a Forum of this scope takes a lot of experience and frankly smarts. I commend the owner and Management on a Job extremely well done.
