The word on the street is that Jerry Page is being picked to become the new NAD President. In my thinking: Bad news. I suggest that we unite in prayer that this will not happen.1 point -

In the opening paragraph, Photodude quotes the following: "The recurring theme of “Ghost Girl” from start to finish is an explicit, oral sex act or sex scene. . . " I would not argue with a person who said that the description of a "start to finish" sex act from the beginning to organism was pornographic. But I do not find Susan writing such. In addition I do not find this mention of fellatio to be either a recurring theme or an extended discussion of the actual act. I consider the actual reference to be two (2) brief one sentence references that use other words than I have used Now if one were to argue that the actual references were 2 or 3 sentences each I would not consider that to be worth objecting to. My point is that the accrual reference is both brief and does not describe from the beginning to organism. The point of the story is that the male driver of the car falsely accused his female friend of causing the accident by sexually assaulting him while he was driving, when in fact the accident was caused by his texting while he was driving. I do agree that the story that Susan wrote, in one section was both poorly written and confusing as to what she actually wrote. Susan has essentially acknowledged such and expressed regret for what she wrote. Let us accept that, move on and in respect to honesty not accuse her beyond the actual facts as to what she actually wrote.1 point -
The 7 Last Plagues - When? What?
phkrause reacted to stinsonmarri for a topic
Rachel: At first, I was trying to understand what you were disagreeing about. What I want to know it who said "those who will have the victory," you didn't quote anyone that made that statement. Now the Bible stated: "...those who had come off victorious from the beast and from his image," (NAS) Now, that is the version you quoted. "...them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image," (KJV) This the version I quoted along with yours. Yes, John did see in the future, and he also quoted what had already taken place; which was in the past as well by that time. In other words, the 144,000, were the ones he saw and also could relate how they became victorious. So he saw the future past! You also stated: "I think the argument CAN be made, that the saved will be standing before the throne in Heaven,JUST BEFORE the last plagues are poured out. Why? Because the sealed are NOT MENTIONED during the 7 bowl plagues. They ARE MENTIONED during the trumpet plagues. It is not an argument, to me maybe to you! To me is to prove or to present the truth. The 144,000 were sealed first in Revelation 7:1-8. Then the Bibles talks about a great multitude that no man could number in Rev 7:9-12; but there is more. On of the elders asked; John who these people from every nation that were array in White Robes were, and where did they come from. One of the elders asked me, "Who are these people dressed in white robes, and where do they come from?" Rev 7:13 GNB I selected a more modern version so you would not think, I just made it up! John didn't know and he told the elder he knew. The elder gave three evidences of where they came from: 1. great tribulation, 2. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, 3. neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them. So the Seven Trumpets are the great tribulation and the fifth angel who blew his trumpet a star [an angel] with a key ( I know you know stars are symbolic of angels! The proof is instead of star it said angel with the key in Rev 20:1), unlock the bottomless pit! What was release was told by THE MOST HIGH, "And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal," of YAHWEH! In Rev Chapter 8 the sun and the moon was hit, also the drinking water was infected. During that time the GM felt thirst and hunger before they were sealed. In Rev 16:8 it stated that all flesh during that time felt "the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire." Now that's what the Bible said and not me, I presented it! Finally, you stated: NOTE: Mrs White says the saints will be on earth during the 7 last plagues. She also says "these plagues are not universal". Now which plagues might those be? Answer: the trumpet plagues. (NOTE: I do not personally believe in her "gift of prophecy".) Those who want to support her writings argue for the bowl plagues before Christ appears." Let me say this kindly, we do not have to argue, about anything, we stand on her gift as a messenger. She had dreams as Act 2:14-17 stated, would take place on sons and daughters also, older people as well. I believe in the Spiritual gifts as they are recorded in the Bible. EGW was correct the saints will be on the earth when both the Trumpets and plagues are poured out! Noone has to argue what the Bible says. People can choose to believe or not they have that right. I feel enough should be said by a woman who cannot speak for herself. Do not say she have a gift or not! My Bible makes it very clear all of HIS people will have one of THE GIFTS of THE HOLY SPIRIT which includes you and I if we follow what the Bible says! The main gift is love for THE MOST HIGH, THE SON and THE HOLY SPIRIT; this also includes our neighbors. EGW is our neighbor and she is asleep and I feel, she lived, up and obeyed to all she knew. I do not know, but only feel in my heart, she will be saved! I do not agree with everything she wrote and she said; if something once believed to be believed as the truth and you find it to be in error, stand for the truth. I stand in truth for all of her visions because you will find them in the Bible. But many other things that was written they all believed at that time were not correct. Just, like they found the Sabbath and to keep all YAHWEH's Commandments; today others will find other truth that she did not understand that the Bible itself will reveal! Blessings! If you see any mistakes let me know! Happy Sabbath!1 point -

Gentlepeople: I have been given a digital copy oy the book that contains Susan’s story. I have read her story and will comment on it in detail. In the interests of transparency, I must provide the following about me: I have a close relative who as a teen was involved in a major accident. He spent 30+ days in a coma. He is now a published author who has published a slightly fictionalized account of his life and time in the coma. In brief, the story goes like this: Two (2) teens are traveling to a party. The male driver is texting and this results in a horrific accident in which the female teen is pronounced dead. In an effort to evade responsibility for the accident, the driver states that the female caused the accident by sexually assaulting him. The female, unknown to the male is revived and enters a coma. The next part of the chapter reflects her thinking as she remains in the coma, but with some understanding of what is going on about her. As the story continues she regains useful function and plans to clear her name of the false accusations against her, and to send the male driver to prison’ In the final part of the chapter she forgives him. I agree that in the early part of the chapter Susan was not clear in her writing. I was confused, but I continued to read. That confusion was cleared up by reading further as Susan wrote more clearly. In actual fact, this is a story of forgiveness. However, Susan could have developed this more, which would have been helpful. To sum up: 1) This story in no way is pornographic. 2) This story does not present a dead person returning to Earth as a ghost. It presents a person coming out of a coma, in the same manner that happened to my close relative. 3) it does have a Christian message. 4) The charges against her while true in part are also substantially false.1 point -

Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear
phkrause reacted to Kevin H for a topic
The gospel is not the good news that the church is going to hell in a handbasket. Also, why is it that to be considered a "good Adventist" you need to be followers of pastors who got several sharp letters from Mrs. White and/or Willie White. If they were wrong in Mrs. White's day, what makes them right today? Some of the things in the mirror may be farther away than they seem as you find similar complaints about both James and Ellen White, Willie, W. W. Prescott, A. G. Daniels among others. This spirit of "pointing out the decline in spirituality" goes back to pointing out the declining spirituality in these people.1 point -

Susan Fordor-Magaitis is a SDA pastor, employed in Australia, who has written a number of fictional stories for a non-SDA audience in an attempt to stimulate their thinking about God. One of her fictional stories was published about five (5) years ago in a book that was a collection of stories by other non-SDA authors. A member of this forum posted a comment on that book that essentially stated: · * That the story that Susan wrote presented dead people returning to Earth, as ghosts, to communicate with those living on Earth. · * That the chapter that Susan wrote contained material that was clearly pornographic. · * That attempts had been made to contact the Conference that employed Susan and that the Conference had refused to address the charges against her. I posted a statement on this forum to the effect that I would attempt to contact the Conference that employed Susan. I have, as outlined in the Bible, attempted to contact both Susan and the Conference that employs her. Susan has not responded directly to me. She has responded to the Conference. Conference Officials have responded to me multiple times in the on-going conversation. The Conference has been open, transparent and willing to respectfully engage me in a conversation on these charges. To be clear, the Conference, in harmony with established policy, investigated the charges against Susan in a manner to be fair to all. In my report to you I am putting into my words the essence of what has happened. My wording actually reflects statements made to me by more than one person. I will also make additional comments that reflect my thinking and were not made to me by others: · * Certain elements in the published story do reflect a lack of considered judgment on the part of Susan. · * Susan deeply regrets certain aspects of what she wrote. · * Her story has been published in a book and posted on the Internet. Susan wishes that she could remove those. But they have been legally posted and she does not have either the ability or the authority to remove them. What follows next are my comments: · * At all times I have found the Conference willing to respectfully engage me. The process has taken time for multiple reasons. One of which is due to the fact of my injury, surgery and the fact that I have had to type with one finger. · * I am not clear as to exactly what Susan wrote. I have found statements to the effect that some charges against Susan actually apply to other authors in the collection of stories. · * Pornography reflects a specific style of writing. Porn is more than graphic and explicit. It has a specific style of writing. I question whether what Susan wrote was actually pornographic. But I do not know as I have not read what she actually wrote. The Conference that employs Susan has investigated in terms of denominational policy. Susan has acknowledged a lack of judgment and expressed regret for what she wrote. I hope we can accept this and put this conversation to bed and let it go.1 point -

Have any of you actually read the story Fodor-Magaitis wrote? I just did. I think this is all a tempest in a teapot. F-M didn't write anything pornographic in her short story in Spectral Tales. The beginning of her story is just kind of juvenile and dopey, and the entire writing is amateurish, but not pornographic, and certainly not any more suggestive than some of the books I was required to read in academy. It has nothing to do with ghosts or spectres. F-M's other books appear to be the same genre: insipid and dopey fluff. F-M can write whatever floats her boat, but don't Australian pastors have anything else to do with their time?1 point -

For me personally it is!! Can I ask as to who wrote that? Then I can get a better idea of what I'd like to say about that statement, thanks!! Why does it have to say exactly what you want it to say? Because when I read that statement I can imagine in my mind nothing and than something out of nothing!! Again I do agree it doesn't say exactly what "you" want it to say, but it says it to me!! I have no problem believing it!! Again I'm in agreement with you there, and when I read those first few verses in Genesis 1, I do get the feeling that there was something there. Now having said that, do we believe that in creating our little part of the vast universe or do we actually believe that he created the whole universe at the same time?? I kind of feel at times, when I hear some, that there were parts of the universe created at different times and maybe our system was the last piece of the creation. Like when we read those first words in the Bible and he's creating our earth, that yes it was there being void and sitting there, so at that particular moment it was something from something, but maybe previously nothing was there and he put something there and thought, I'll come back to that later?? Just a thought!!1 point -

Isaiah 58:1-14 THE FAST THAT GOD HAS CHOSEN The divorce between outward rites and inward piety has been the curse of every age. When the Pharisees were plotting our Lord’s death, they refused to enter Pilate’s hall. Not the bowed head, but the broken heart; not the sackcloth and ashes of the flesh, but the contrition of the soul! Notice the three paragraphs descriptive of the experiences of the devout and consecrated soul: (1.) The conditions of blessedness, Isa 58:6-7. (2.) The successive items which go to make a blessed life, Isa 58:8-12. (3.) The true Sabbath-keeping, Isa 58:13-14. Primarily, it is inward, not outward. Let us be on our watch against the entrance into our hearts of all thoughts that would break the holy inward calm. Remember to imitate Nehemiah’s instructions: Neh 13:16-22. Let the divine peace rule within and be as a sentinel keeping the outward gate, Col 3:15; Phil 4:7. Cease to follow your own ways, or find your own pleasures, or speak your own words. Delight yourself in God; so shall you sit with Christ in heavenly places and feed at the heavenly table. (taken from FB Meyer Bible Commentary)1 point
