    Is the Church leaving you?

that was a big deal when I was growing up.. On Pathfinder or Jr Academy campouts, there was absolutely NO swimming on the Sabbath — it was wading only .... because, ooooooo, having fun on the Sabbath might lead to sin My Dad (who was not SDA at that time) thought it was ridiculous — he still thought it was ridiculous after he became an SDA.

    Climate Change: Is It Real?

One of the prophecies of Jesus was written in Luke 21:26 when it said “Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” While this climate change is not of the magnitude for "hearts failing for fear," it is a prodrome of things to come when you see the various individuals and groups panicking over climate change and the results they see coming. They are more than willing to give up their freedoms to escape the things to come. However, various scenarios of serious upheavals in the earth's climate or ability to support the population has been occurring for at least a century. The following is one list compiled to show the various scenarios envisioned thru the years: Recap of the last 50+ years of climate panic: 1966: Oil gone in ten years 1967: Dire famine forecast by 1975 1968: Overpopulation will spread worldwide 1969: Everyone will disappear in a "Cloud of Blue Steam" by 1989 1970: World will use up all its natural resources by 2000 1970: Urban citizens will require gas masks by 1985 1970: Nitrogen buildup will make all land unusable 1970: Decaying pollution will kill all the fish 1970s: Killer bees 1970: Ice age by 2000 1970: America subject to water rationing by 1974 and food rationing by 1980 1971: New ice age coming by 2020 or 2030 1972: New ice age by 2070 1972: Oil depleted in 20 years 1974: Space satellites show new ice age coming fast 1974: Another ice age? 1974: Ozone depletion a "great peril to life" 1976: Scientific consensus planet cooling, famines imminent 1977: Department of energy says oil will peak in 90s 1978: No end in sight to 30-year cooling trend 1980: Acid rain kills life in lakes 1980: Peak oil in 2000 1988: Regional droughts (that never happened) in 1990s 1988: Temperatures in DC will hit record highs 1988: Maldive Islands will be underwater by 2018 (they're not) 1989: Rising sea levels will obliterate nations if nothing done by 2000 1989: New York City's West Side Highway underwater by 2019 (it's not) 1996: Peak oil in 2020 2000: Children won't know what snow is 2002: Famine in 10 years if we don't give up eating fish, meat, and dairy 2002: Peak oil in 2010 2004: Britain will be Siberia by 2024 2005: Manhattan underwater by 2015 2006: Super hurricanes 2008: Arctic will be ice free by 2018 2008: Climate genius Al Gore predicts ice free Arctic by 2013 2009: Climate genius Prince Charles says we have 96 months to save world 2009: UK Prime Minister says 50 days to "save the planet from catastrophe 2009: Climate genius Al Gore moves 2013 prediction of ice free Arctic to 2014 2013: Arctic ice free by 2015 2014: Only 500 days before "climate chaos" 2019: Hey Greta, we need you to convince them it's really going to happen this time

    Natural Born Citizen

In little Rivky’s Strauss’ civics classes, they were debating the qualifications to be president of the United States. It was pretty simple - the candidate must be a natural born citizen of at least 35 years of age. Rivky argued how unfair it was that there was a requirement to be a natural born citizen. Rivky’s opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president. Rivky’s teacher was just taking it in and letting her rant, but the teacher’s jaw hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating, "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?"

    Is the Church leaving you?

There are some things I learned before I was baptized that I thought were ridiculous. Some of these things I still think are ridiculous. One thing I found to be ridiculous was making sure you purchased your Sabbath meal tickets prior to sundown of Friday when attending camp meeting. So - I exchange US Government script for SDA script and pay for my meal that way? Why couldn't I just use my credit card and pay when the bill comes in? IMHO, what's the difference? The people in the kitchen are still working their fannies off (breaking the Sabbath?) no matter how people pay.

    Climate Change: Is It Real?

Thinking about it even from a non-scriptural viewpoint, one can't help but come to the conclusion that some sort of extinction event will eventually occur. The population can't keep growing forever while arable land keeps diminishing. We can't keep mining the earth for minerals, water, and fossil fuel forever, it will eventually run out. With the increasing population density - especially in large cities - coupled with global transportation, eventually some pandemic could wipe out large populations. Eventually, some idiot will start a nuclear war. About every 10,000 to 20,000 years, an extinction event - like a big meteor strike or huge volcanic eruption or massive earthquake kills off LOTS of people. With or without God, it's only a matter of time. I rather like the idea of a loving God telling us all about it in advance and promising to save his elect, though.

    Climate Change: Is It Real?

According to Webster, globalism is defined as "a national policy of treating the whole world as a proper sphere for political influence". I'm good with that; but IMHO (based on scripture and EGW) religion will be part of it. No religion (atheism) is itself a religion.

    Climate Change: Is It Real?

Allegedly, BIG Industry like fossil fuel burning power plants and transportation that is belching out all these harmful gases; and burning of forests to create agricultural space is a large cause of climate change - allegedly.

    Climate Change: Is It Real?

To be sure, the environment is being damaged, but I do not think global warming is one of the problems. Clean drinking water is almost not available. In my part of the country, our water company sends out quarterly notices detailing where they have FAILED government guidelines. The last report suggested immunocompromised individuals not drink the water. I used to be a tap water person and thought buying drinking water was ridiculous. Now, I only drink bottled water and some spring water. Also, there is a plastic "island" in the Pacific between California and Hawaii. All the plastic being dumped in the Pacific gets drawn into this vortex created by ocean currents. I believe I recently read of some who are actually going out in ships and "harvesting" this plastic. The size of this "island" is said to be on the order of the size of Texas! Glitter. That is becoming a serious issue apart from being plastic. Probably everyone has glitter residue in their bodies. It is everywhere. You can go on and on regarding damage to the environment. The reality is, this earth cannot sustain the amount of people living on it. Hence, population control. Even more worrisome is the thought of reducing the number of people living on the earth by other means. There is a monument in the State of Georgia (USA) dedicated to bring the population down to 500,000,000. I don't see a lot of volunteers signing up to help achieve this goal. But what is of interest related to the global warming is first the use of this "crisis" to gain control of the population. Churchhill is said to said "never let a crisis go to waste." More recently, this was attributed to Rahm Emmanuel in the Obama administration. Lefties are mastering the art of using a crisis to institute more controls on the population. One thing that is sad is the exploitation of a teenager from Sweden to push this agenda. Poor Greta, who also is said to have Asperger's syndrome, actually believes her childhood has been destroyed. Second is the significance of this hysteria over climate change. People do not really want to repent and be saved, but somehow they will figure out how to save themselves without repenting. You could argue that the population in general senses the coming end of the age and like the Tower of Babel builders the wicked will try to "outrun" the impending disaster. Some even envision leaving this earth for another planet. I feel confident on this sensing of the end of the age because it is hard to talk to someone and find out they do not agree with "something big" coming.

    $27,000,000 in damages!

Just because they "can" doesn't mean they "should"..... If the priority is repair in order to facilitate patient care, I would think the insurance route would be far more expeditious. AH appears to be the poster child of organizational rapaciousness, imho.

    Buckle up, buttercups!

I agree that Trump has done some shady things in the past. I admit that I have done some shady things in the past. Trump seems to have repented of past sins. I have repented of past sins. He has strived to perform every promise he made in his campaign; and has been successful for the most part. I am so glad God does not look at our outside appearance; he looks at the heart. Pedophilia is just one more step down the slippery slope of calling evil good and good evil. We are approaching a time in our history where almost every perversion will be deemed acceptable. The time is coming when many these will not only be deemed as acceptable, but will be enforced. They will culminate in the Mark of the Beast, where everyone who does not conform will be cast out and/or killed. Then, our Savior appears to take us away before he rains His wrath upon the wickedness remaining on the earth.

    Buckle up, buttercups!

You brought up President Trump in a thread that has NOTHING to do with the man. The fact that you associated his name in a thread about pedophilia IS a political statement.

    Is the Church leaving you?

It depends where you live. In northern Europe, all of the Seine, Meuse, Rhine, Elbe, Oder, Vistula run south to north. When referring to geographic places, "upper", "lower", "above", "below", etc. are always in reference to elevation. So yes, Ethiopia is above Egypt. Paris is upstream from Le Havre. Mainz is above Köln. The upper Vistula is in the southern Carpathian mountains of Poland. This convention is well-known and well-established. Unfortunately in the United States, with all of the Mississippi, Missouri, Hudson and Delaward running north to south, a number of Unitedstatians mistakenly have come to believe that "up" means "north" and "down" means "south". Another convention relating to rivers is the references to the "left bank" and the "right bank". In this context, "left" and "right" are always in relation to the direction of the current. So while the left bank of the Rhine is to the West and the right bank to the East, the left bank of the Mississippi is to the West and the right bank is to the East. Again since this referring to "left bank" and "right bank" are more common in Europe than in America, some have erroneously been led to believe that "left" and "right" means "west" and "east". This is not true.

Like I said, you are the one who invaded TWO of my threads with off topic name calling of the President. Neither thread had anything to do with Trump. That is not polite.

    Buckle up, buttercups!

The women participating in the Miss Universe pageant were not PREpubescent. The context of Trumps comments, was the contest - comparing his daughter to other contestants. That being said, I agree that parading young women in scant costumes as objects to be desired/admired for their "beauty" (by Western standards), is definitely not something inspired of Heaven. There are several passages in the Scriptures that reference the "beauty" of specific women. They do not however, reference their body proportions.

    Buckle up, buttercups!

You are really stretching it now. Perhaps Trumps comments were not the best, but they were not pedophilia. And you are so dedicated to your hatred of Trump you cannot even see those of the opposing party who actually have done acts against young girls. FWIW, I would much more prefer my daughter to work in the Trump Whitehouse than the Clinton Whitehouse. You may even consider the case of Joe Morrissey, who was elected to the Virginia State Senate as a senator. This reflects a serious problem with the population at large that a majority would put this person into a position of influence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Morrissey I can't even begin to go into the case of J Epstein, partly because the whole story is still so not publicly known, but seems to have involved well known figures having relationships with underage girls. Funny thing is, Bill Clinton was known to take many trips to this mans place. Even Prince Andrew has been caught up in the scandal. The full list of those involved still remains a mystery, but at some point will possibly become public. The coroners determination of suicide is now being seriously questioned and is labeled by some as a homicide. This man's death now joins a list of some more than 70 individuals who have died under mysterious situations who also had some connection to the Clintons. But if you only follow CNN, you will only see their twisted reasons why Trump should be impeached. However, the idea behind the original post has been lost.

    Buckle up, buttercups!

This is my second recent post to be taken over by this trashing of the president and subsequently, the original idea was lost in the fracas. Also, historically, people who support this president have also been treated with disdain by the same poster. Truly sad.

    Buckle up, buttercups!

I find it sad that some people take every opportunity they can to trash our President. The topic title has nothing to do with politics. If people want to trash our president, start a president trashing topic; and don't hijack other topics to disrespect the man.
