Buckle up, buttercups!

The things that people count as flaws are in many ways the very reason he is so successful. Part of the problem for the Republicans for so long is that they usually showed up in golf clothing for a round of golf. Trump showed up with brass knuckles. Given what Trump has stood for and accomplished, it would not have mattered who was elected president as a Republican and accomplishing what Trump has that they would be in any better position and would probably be much worse off. We don't see how devoted to abortion the Dems are and Trump is a danger to that. Keep in mind that until the 2008 election, Dems loved Trump! Cross 'em and it is a knife in the back. Trump has done more for America than ANY recent president and some would argue he is the best president ever! Another little factoid I ran into. Except for Gerald Ford, every Republican president since Dwight Eisenhower has had some Democrat attempting to impeach them with varying degrees of success. I will have in the next day or two an interesting post which looks at how the current situation in the USA has already been an occurrence in Biblical history. Hopefully, that one can stay on topic and not turn into another Trump hating and name calling exercise.3 points -

Well; not to take anyone's side on this point, but IMO, which at the moment is very humble (lol) I don't see how anyone can fault people for reading things into prophecy regarding any sitting president of the US. I mean, they are the top dog in the world. People are bound to see all kinds of things on this one! I would add that Trump seems to be a little "in over his head," right now, and I have worried about him. He seems like he really wants to do the right thing; but he struggles because he is more of a business man than president of the most powerful country in the world. Very few people that critisize him are any more "moral" than he is, IMO.3 points -
Yup. Getting drunk and then driving a car shows "a great lack of common sense". Hence "stupid". mid 16th century: from French stupide or Latin stupidus, from stupere (which became our word "stupor") If you're stuporous, you're in a stupor, or not quite fully conscious. In Latin, stupor means "insensibility, numbness, or dullness," from stupere, or "be stunned." To drive intoxicated is to drive in a "stuporous state". The person was rendered "stupid" by the alcohol. I stand by my word choice. I have a Master's in Counseling Services, and I doubt anyone on this present thread is a poor young person likely to be crushed by that word choice in this particular context.2 points

sometimes I think the Adventist church couldn't survive without some sort of drama going on... We could have some sort of reality TV show, on the same level as "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" or "Dancing with the Stars." We could name it, "Rubbernecking with the Remnant" .....1 point -
The Seriousness of the End-Time (18:2)
phkrause reacted to news for a topic
God does not want us to underestimate the seriousness of these final times of confusion and deception. He does not want us to underestimate Satan’s cunning and persuasive power. So there are vivid descriptions of this time to come, both in the Old Testament and the New, even beyond the ones we have examined earlier. Light In The Spiritual Clouds The eagle of the Alps is sometimes beaten down by the tempest into the narrow defiles of the mountains. Storm clouds shut in this mighty bird of the forest, their dark masses separating her from the sunny heights where she has made her home. Her efforts to escape seem fruitless. She dashes to and fro, beating the air with her strong wings, and waking the mountain echoes with her cries. At length, with a note of triumph, she darts upward, and, piercing the clouds, is once more in the clear sunlight, with the darkness and tempest far beneath. So we may be surrounded with difficulties, discouragement, and darkness. Falsehood, calamity, injustice, shut us in. There are clouds that we cannot dispel. We battle with circumstances in vain. There is one, and but one, way of escape. The mists and fogs cling to the earth; beyond the clouds God's light is shining. Into the sunlight of His presence we may rise on the wings of faith. {Ed 118.2} The powers of darkness gather about the soul and shut Jesus from our sight, and at times we can only wait in sorrow and amazement until the cloud passes over. These seasons are sometimes terrible. Hope seems to fail, and despair seizes upon us. In these dreadful hours we must learn to trust, to depend solely upon the merits of the atonement, and in all our helpless unworthiness cast ourselves upon the merits of the crucified and risen Saviour. We shall never perish while we do this--never! When light shines on our pathway, it is no great thing to be strong in the strength of grace. But to wait patiently in hope when clouds envelop us and all is dark, requires faith and submission which causes our will to be swallowed up in the will of God. We are too quickly discouraged, and earnestly cry for the trial to be removed from us, when we should plead for patience to endure and grace to overcome. Those who turn to God with heart and soul and mind will find in Him peaceful security. . . . He knows just what we need, just what we can bear, and He will give us grace to endure every trial and test that He brings upon us. My constant prayer is for greater nearness to God.1 point -

Any time someone in office (or running for office) is accused of something "immoral" - the accusation is rendered "political" because the accusation may help the opponent/s of the accused (running for the same political office). This happens frequently when parties try to portray a policy (such as building a border fence) as "immoral" - say - because it is "not generous to the poor" etc. Or labeling a border fence as "RACIST!" - because racism is understood to be "immoral". Or labeling opposition to Medicare for all (including all illegal immigrants) as immoral. Lots of "corruption" (skimming money, or obtaining money in shady or secret ways to enrich oneself while in office, or to enrich ones campaign) - on both sides (D & R). Trump money is no "dirtier" than Biden money. Lots of sexual sins. Hillary took a whopping lot of money from Jeffrey Epstein, and shielded Harvey Weinstein (both were known to be sexual predators). Hillary defended Bill by lying about the women he had assaulted. Lots of lies on both sides. (Example would be the false report obtained from Russian source by a foreign agent, paid for by the Hillary campaign, passed to the FBI, and used to obtain a warrant to monitor the Trump campaign). Plenty of lies (lies are "immoral") on both sides. We could start a whole forum and just trade accusations. But I think all the TV/online networks have that covered. I would rather discuss Biblical interpretation.1 point -

I'm a little confused by your use of the word "science" here. In a purely, academic sense, the "science" does indicate that if everyone in the world reduced their carbon footprint to zero, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would go down. What science does not indicate is that simply reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will reduce temperature. It also makes sense that closing down everything in the world for one day a week would reduce pollution. In a practical sense, that could never happen without a worldwide totalitarian government. We have many religious leaders in the world (Christian and non-Christian) claiming that we have a moral obligation to address global warming; increasing the possibility of worldwide religious support for addressing climate change. So, in the end, it won't be the science that drives trying to control climate change, it will be the politics and religion. In my opinion, trying to meaningfully control climate change is as desperate as trying to control solar cycles or interstellar gas.1 point -

You know I agree especial the person in the WH made pedophillia comments about his own daughter. When Donald Trump was watching his 16-year-old daughter Ivanka host the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant, he turned to the then-Miss Universe and asked: “Don’t you think my daughter’s hot? She’s hot, right?” That anecdote, told to the New York Times by Brook Antoinette Mahealani Lee, appears to be the first recorded incident of the Republican presidential candidate and reality TV star making comments about his daughter’s body which those present have deemed inappropriate. In the almost 20 years since Mr. Trump has called his eldest daughter “voluptuous”. He’s said it’s OK to describe her as “a piece of a**”, though she is a senior executive in his business empire. And he’s said that, if she wasn’t his daughter, “perhaps [he’d] be dating her.” Independent Digital News & Media Limited 9 Donald Trump Quotes About Ivanka That Are Super Uncomfortable; elitedaily I could name a whole bunch more! Now, like I said we agree not only is it a sexual deviancy; but a sin including homosexual acts. You are so right what immorality right! You see we agree on something about the man in the WH! Buckle up, buttercups! The ride is about to get a whole lot rougher. It gets frequently alleged that because gay people are "born that way", they should be given full memberships in church with leadership positions and so on. However, it has also been said that other forms of perversions would come down the road with the same rationals. Well, the pedophiles are coming down the road for your children. There has been an active campaign going on for years, and not least of all in academia, to categorize pedophilia NOT as some kind of sexual deviancy worthy of society’s harshest opprobrium, but rather a ‘sexual orientation.’ It is very difficult to understand how slapping a ‘sexual orientation’ label on pedophilia will do anything to protect the real victims, who are, of course, the vulnerable children. In fact, it seems the new designation will only increase their chances of being victimized since the predators may feel that they have license to act according to their newfound status in the LGBTQS club. https://www.rt.com/op-ed/472854-pedophiles-born-sexual-orientation/0 points
