Two Second Comings?
JoeMo and one other reacted to B/W Photodude for a topic
This post was especially annoying. And like they say ... "and she persisted." You make a lot of prejudgements regarding what I write. I really don't find much difference in prejudging some one and racism, it is just more hidden. Many people do not even know who their great grandparents were and can only guess where their ancestry is from. Part of why people are so into dna charts showing where their ancestors are from. And Alex Haley did a good job with his ancestry, A lot of kids today do not even know who their daddy is and neither do their mommas! The Maury Povich Show demonstrates that all the time! I don't spend a lot of time speculating on what color Jesus or Moses were. Sometimes you have to get past skin color. I have written before here and elsewhere on the irrelevance of skin color to anything when it comes to spiritual and/or religious situations. The only people who really need to consider skin color are photographers. So, ask a photographer what the difference between a black person and a white person and they might say "2 f-stops." Well, when you have an agenda to grind, whatever drives you affects your conclusions. For instance, if I were reading Aryan nations literature, they may have very interesting ideas regarding where different nations originated. However, because of their expressed hatred for others, I can't take their history as being reliable. They are revising history to suit their purposes. I tend to see you in the same position. You are somewhat obsessed with skin color and spelling of names of which few others use, so I have to disregard anything you have to say regarding history. Having degrees in history does not really make you right. There are any number of others out there with impressive academic credentials but with questionable ethics behind their reasoning. You will find people all the time trying to revise history to fit their agendas. And people even try to revise biblical history. (The problem with me!) I used that story to illustrate a point that some are using ridiculous situations to pull out the race care. It was an example of how I was faced with this kind of behavior. And "evil that has been done to people of color"? You can find tons of examples all over the world where evil has been done to every color there is by every color there is. People do it across color lines and they even do it within color lines. The Hutus and the Tutsis did enormous damage to each other in the Rwandan massacres. And of course, Germans did enormous injury to people of like color be they Jews, Christians, gays, invalid, or just "lives not worthy of living." I think you really are too judgemental regarding others to really be dealing with reality and facts. Reality is easily distorted by personal agenda.2 points -

Well I hope you are not calling me one of these "saints?" lol I am NOT qualified. I think if anyone chooses to not post, that its their decision and they cant blame someone else for it. It seems to just boil down to some who hate to be questioned and who wish the questions would stop, and when they dont; then its "abuse," or some such thing.1 point -

Well, I was a little shocked at a few things this article said. I didn't realize there was anyone other than the Pope who said things like this: I don't know how on earth this dude convinced himself of this, but "canonical obedience" to him is really stretching things over the top. I mean, thats just ridiculous. He seems pretty mixed up. In one breath he states: And then he also states: People sure don't need/use the Bible to be "homophobic," if they are "homophobic," they are not that way because of the Bible. Its like saying Im "heterophobic" just because I agree with the Bible's take on "adultery." It doesnt take a scientist to see what he means by this: Its a pretty ridiculous statement for several reasons, none of them to do with "orientation."1 point -

5 Things You Didn't Know About The New Year's Eve Ball Drop_2 Welcome to 2020, folks! It's a brand new decade, so join us as we celebrate New Year's Day, Trivia Today style! Here are five things you didn't know about the New Year's Eve Ball Drop. The First Ball Was Made of Iron and Wood The first ball drop in New York City goes all the way back to 1907-1908 when an iron and wood ball decorated with 100 25-watt bulbs was lowered in Times Square. Waiters and others at nearby restaurants and hotels wore top hats with tiny battery-operated light bulbs spelling out “1908.” At midnight, the year on their hats lit up, complementing the display on the Times building’s tower. The Ball in Times Square Has Had a lot of Makeovers The 2020 Waterford Crystal Times Square New Year's Eve Ball was built around the theme of the "Gift of Goodwill", which displays three pineapples all decked out in Waterford crystal to represent hospitality and goodwill. The 12-foot ball is covered in 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles and is believed to be the largest crystal ball in the world. While the ball drop is now timed electronically using an atomic clock out of Colorado, for the first 87 years, the ball was lowered by hand. No Ball Drop Occurred in New York City for Two Years During 1942 and 1943, the ceremonial ball drop was suspended because New York City lights were dimmed due to World War II. However, people in the city still celebrated by gathering in Times Square for a moment of silence. Sound trucks, parked at the tower’s base, were used to transmit the sound of ringing chimes. This was similar to earlier celebrations where church bells were rung to announce the arrival of the New Year. Time Balls Have Been Used Since the 1800s The concept of dropping a ball to mark time dates back to the mid-1800s in England. One of the earliest time-balls was the one atop the Flamsteed House of the Greenwich Observatory along the River Thames. Starting in 1833, it was lowered every day at exactly 1 p.m. to signal the time to sailors and Londoners who could not afford clocks and watches. The Cleanup Is Massive Thousands of pounds of confetti are dropped at the stroke of midnight. One hundred volunteers, called confetti dispersal engineers, are stationed on the roofs of the Times Square buildings, and they are in charge of its release on the populace below. Once the festivities are over and the crowd is gone, a massive effort is undertaken by the Department of Sanitation to clean up the mess. For example, in 2013-2014, it was estimated that it took eight hours and 190 workers to clean up more than 50 tons of confetti and items dropped by celebrants.1 point -
