  1. Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. ... and so on. This is why the Sabbath starts at sundown in SDA circles and in the Jewish faith.

Pope Francis Tells Christians Not to Try to Convert Nonbelievers

ROME — Pope Francis told Christian high school students this weekend they should respect people of other faiths and not attempt to convert them to Christianity, insisting “we are not living in the times of the crusades.” Asked by one of the students Friday how a Christian should treat people of other faiths or no faith, the pope said that “we are all the same, all children of God” and that true disciples of Jesus do not proselytize. https://www.breitbart.com/faith/2019/12/22/pope-francis-tells-christians-not-to-try-to-convert-nonbelievers/

  5. Yes, I knew that when I posted. IMO thats what they do say, but I am not sure that it means what we want it to here. I do make some effort to be just as hard on our church as I am on this one. Several threads would bear that out here. I like your idea of doing that research so Ill be back with a report.

  6. some are very proud to be called anything like this, I would imagine you are right. They earned it. But to be fair; "the other side" has never spoken well of us. Oh yes, I know what the apologist would say. But that doesnt erase history, "tradition," or other stuff thats been written by "the faithful." One does have to wonder what they are so worried about that they would say this now.

The link was primarily posted as a news item. But being named a “heretic” places her in the company of many good saints. Would we all be named heretics!

If we call the Pope the antichrist, we should expect such a response.

  14. I do not think you understand the article. The archbishop did not ban all sports in Detroit as you noted that he has not the authority. He would have the authority to ban all Sunday sports played by teams attending Catholic schools in his area of leadership.

  15. You can read in the literature of many evangelical churches literature and they will adhere to 9 of 10 commandments. Some will say to do what you want with the fourth or that they are done away with, although no one seems to be charitable with murderers, thieves, etc. The fourth commandment is like the seal of God in the commandments with His stamp of authority as Creator. It is also His time to spend with His people. Violating the fourth commandment is the one that will be the commandment of debate in the end times. Oh! BTW, Satan hates all of the commandments!

  16. It is difficult to know everything about Greta's rise to fame, but there are suggestions that she is being used. What else would get liberals in a tizzy than having a "child" espousing their agenda? Some believe she is reading material written by her father. Others believe she does suffer from Asperger's syndrome. Whole bunch of things don't add up well here. She has been photographic eating a meal on a train with a huge amount of plastic wares all over for her meal. (I assumed that does not fit well for climate change people. Californians would know this one as they can't even get plastic straws anymore!)

5 Things You Didn't Know About Ben Franklin_2 On January 17, 1706, Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston. A brilliant inventor, publisher, politician, and ambassador, the founding father wore many different hats in his lifetime. Here are 5 fascinating things you didn’t know about the man on the $100 bill... He Only Had Two Years of Formal Education. The man considered the most brilliant American of his age rarely saw the inside of a classroom. Franklin spent just two years attending Boston Latin School and a private academy before joining the family candle and soap making business. But he used his money to buy books and further his education. Despite being almost entirely self-taught, Franklin later helped found the school that became the University of Pennsylvania and received honorary degrees from Harvard, Yale, the College of William and Mary, the University of St. Andrews and Oxford. Franklin Became a Hit Writer as a Teenager In the 1720s, a 16-year-old Franklin began submitting comments and essays under the pen name “Silence Dogood” to his brother’s weekly newspaper, the New England Courant. In those pieces, he pretended to be a widow offering her thoughts on many topics, including fashion, women’s rights, marriage, and religion. His letters were so popular that he even received marriage proposals. Eventually, however, Franklin admitted that he was the author, much to the embarrassment of his brother James, the newspaper’s owner. Franklin Was Slow in Supporting American Independence Franklin was one of the last of the Founding Fathers to support the American colonies’ independence from Great Britain. He was previously an outspoken supporter of King George III, and following the Boston Tea Party in 1773, he had stated that the tea company should be paid for its losses. It wasn’t until Franklin publicly announced that he supported American independence that some people stopped wondering if he was a spy for the British. His Son Was a Supporter of The British Along with the two children he had with his wife, Deborah Read, Franklin also fathered an illegitimate son named William around 1730. The two were once close friends and partners—William helped Franklin with his famous kite experiment—but they later had a major falling out over the American Revolution. Willian was a Tory who strongly supported Great Britain. William Franklin ultimately ended up in a colonial prison for being against the war for independence and later moved to England. The two never spoke again. Franklin Is a Member of The Hall of Fame For Swimmers Franklin was apparently a water lover, and one of the first things he invented were hand paddles made of wood that he used in the Charles River while he was swimming. He knew so many different swimming strokes that while he lived in England, a friend said he would help him open a swimming school. Franklin declined the offer, but he remained a proponent of swimming instruction for the rest of his life. His aquatic exploits have since earned him an honorary induction into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

  18. We began this book by remembering that there once was peace throughout the universe. There was peace because all the members of God’s vast family trusted each other. They trusted their heavenly Father, and He, in turn, could safely trust in them. But then a war began in heaven, a conflict of distrust. An adversary […] The post Chapter Twenty: “At Peace with our Heavenly Father” (20-1) appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. View the full article

  19. Excellent point. I will post more about this another time as well. Whatever is happening/going to happen is not sourced from any human perspective/powers at all. "final events will be rapid ones," and Jesus agreed saying "behold I come quickly..." The reason for such haste is that it IS/will be far out of the control of human hands. Jeremiah has some pointed things to say about it too.
