Happy Sabbath: That springs from the idea that there is a real blessing to be obtained in the expected fellowship with God on that day. The person saying "Happy Sabbath" is stating a hope that you will participate in that blessing. NOTE: I often say, "Shabbat Shalom," which is a Hebrew phrase for wishing someone a happy sabbath. NOTE: The Hebrew word "Shalom" is often translated into English as "peace." Actually that translation fails to fully communicate the Hebrew meaning, which is much more involved than the English.2 points -

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Isaiah 58:13 God has often said He laughs at the wicked. How arrogant man is to think that he can removal the sacredness from something God has called holy. The Sabbath day is as holy as when God frist called it holy and will remain so until God in an unmistakable way declares differently. However, He has said He does not change, so in this lifetime I do not see that happening. NOTHING will change the Sabbath day into a profane day before the endtimes and anything attempting to do so will be a deception. No compromises with any group promoting world unity via Sunday "sacredness" is acceptable.2 points -

glad to see you are commenting from personal experience, rather than a bunch of skull-duggery. :) Well; Ill play "devil's advocate on this one. It is my understanding that adventist teachings are not as much trying to say "the Catholic Church is planning this," rather, it seems more directed at saying, this is what they will, at some point in the future, make the choice to do that. That time has not yet arrived; nor has the time when Sunday" will be "the mark of the beast." I think, correctly understood, Adventists teach that this is something that is to come, but has not yet arrived. It is impossible to prove that RCCs have not done things like this in the past, nor is it possible to show by their express policy that they wont do it again, should circumstances return again that would favor it. In an article published by The British Journal of Politics and International Relations, 2018, Vol. 20(3) 521–539 In fact, that article goes even further: Its not a huge, nor an unreasonable step from this to imagine how agitation for "sunday" will be realized and carried out in the near future. Just as have many attempts been done in the past. But as Scripture reflects, God's law is perfect, and needs no adjustments, fine-tuning, or changes, such as being disparaged as " cermonial."1 point -

Pope Francis 2020 plan is to rally Nations behind Climate change and Sunday law

Very true Several thousand years ago, the king of Babylon decreed that his subjects must worship only in the way he saw fit. Three Jewish men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, chose to follow their consciences, standing up against the king and his edict. Thus began a standoff that remains famous even to this day (see Daniel 3). Unfortunately, we are seeing the same situation repeating itself today. The Pope is calling for the world to acknowledge and honor Sunday as a day of rest. Legislation that will force the world to worship and rest on Sunday would be the ideal solution. There are many voices clamoring to fulfill exactly such a goal, using the economy, the environment, and even the family as reasons to legislate Sunday rest. Another standoff is obviously on the horizon. Those who refuse to give up the Biblical seventh-day Sabbath will face trials as tough as the furnace faced by Shadrach and his companions. However, we can hold fast hope, knowing that the God who spared the Israelite men from the fiery furnace is coming again soon. Transnational Politics have become mostly a secular enterprise, for now; but without throwing away its historical religious heritage. It would be pretty tough for the RCC to deny their role and goals within the realms of transnational legislation. Will "Sunday" be involved? If we look at the past history; it is easy to dig up reliable documentation which reflects past headlines of RCC efforts at instigating Sunday Laws, of various kinds. IMO the past few Popes have clearly been making efforts at instilling more of the transnational relationships and political influences since around WW1 and onwards. The RCCs rise and spread of the needed pattern of international political development, has for the last number of years, been gradually recognized by the academic community, and by statesmen from around the world. The Holy See has projected one of the mainstream practices of political communication theory. The Vatican (Roman) Holy See, using the influence of the Catholic Church in the world, according to "the Lateran Treaty" (Lateran Treaty) has always been trying to construct a practical political entity not subject to territorial restrictions. This national model poses a challenge to those who would object to the religious influence in international politics. After Second Vatican Council, the Holy See actively integrated into the international community, with the actual behavior required to reshape the religious identity of all transnational political actors. In order to win the recognition of the international community, to expand the spread of historic RCC religious identity, "ecological conversion" is being urged upon all. On June 18, 2015, Pope Francis issued his encyclical on climate change. The Pope recommends Sunday-keeping as part of a global solution to heal our planet. Here's part of the Pope's message: On October 2, 2019 the United States government and the Vatican held a high level symposium on the need of promoting religious freedom. The event was called “Pathways to Achieving Human Dignity: Partnering with Faith-Based Organizations.” They discussed the importance of the US and Vatican to partner together with faith-based organizations to advance religious liberty, combat human trafficking, climate change and providing humanitarian aid. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Vatican Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Gallagher led out in this event designed to build a society which could truly be “tolerant” and “inclusive.” What is troubling aboout this whole thing is the obvious push to the opposite of not being "tolerant or inclusive" by these two great world powers banding together to promote ‘Laudato Si’ and to attempt to get all the churches involved. The Pope’s encyclical ‘Laudato Si’ has a very clear mandate for "Sunday rest," or "Sunday Obligation." I am not sure how anyone can miss that. Last year, The National Catholic Register had this to say about civil enforcement of Sundays in Poland: The Catholic Church is quite clear, at its highest levels that they have exercised the "authority" to "change" the seventh-day Sabbath; even calling it "the third commandment" just for added confusion: Instead of side-tracking the issue to gibbering about does the Bible "really" mean what it says about "the seventh-day" it would be well to simply go straight to the sources, as I have done to see what the clear intentions are. The OP is quite correct in what it says about the 2020 plan to rally nations behind climate change and sunday laws.1 point -

5 Legendary Diamonds of The World On January 25, 1905, at the Premier Mine in South Africa, a 3,106-carat diamond was discovered. The diamond was named the Cullinan and it was the largest rough diamond ever found. However, the Cullinan is only one of many famous diamonds. Here are 5 legendary diamonds and their rich history... The Cullinan The Cullinan was found in 1905 at the Premier Mine in South Africa and later cut up. It was divided into 105 diamonds (nine major and 96 minor) plus several chips. The cut diamonds were known as "Cullinan #" (such as Cullinan I, Cullinan II, and so on), with "Star of Africa I" and "Star of Africa II" used for the largest two cut stones. The Cullinan I is mounted in the British Sovereign’s Royal Scepter, while the Cullinan II sits in the Imperial State Crown. The Hope The Cullinan might be the largest known rough diamond, but the most notorious is likely the Hope Diamond, a brilliant dark violet-blue diamond weighing 45.52 carats. The Hope was once owned by Louis XIV and was officially designated “the blue diamond of the crown.” Stolen during the French Revolution, it turned up in London in 1830 and was bought by Henry Philip Hope, after whom it is currently named. It was while the diamond was in the possession of the Hope family that it acquired its gruesome reputation for bad luck. Harry Winston purchased the Hope Diamond in 1949, and 9 years later it was given to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. The Excelsior The second largest stone ever found is the Excelsior, which was 995.2 carats in the rough. A high clarity, blue-white stone, found in 1893 by a South African mine worker who picked it out of a shovel full of gravel. Due to its irregular shape, it was cut into 21 polished stones, of which the largest is a marquise of 69.80 carats. A smaller, 18 carat marquise stone cut from the Excelsior was displayed at the 1939 World’s Fair by De Beers. The shape of the stone was out of the ordinary: flat on one side and rose to a peak on the other, somewhat like a loaf of rye bread. It is believed that this is what inspired the diamond to be named ‘Excelsior’, meaning higher. The Regent A truly historic diamond discovered in 1701 by an Indian slave near Golconda, it weighed 410 carats in the rough. Once owned by William Pitt, the English Prime Minister, it was cut into a cushion shaped brilliant of 140.50 carats and, until it was sold to the Duke of Orleans, Regent of France when Louis XV was a boy in 1717, was called The Pitt. It was then renamed The Regent and set in the crown Louis XV wore at his coronation. After the French revolution, it was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte who set it in the hilt of his sword. It is now on display in the Louvre. Taylor-Burton This pear-shaped 69.42 carat diamond was sold at auction in 1969 with the understanding that it could be named by the buyer. Cartier of New York successfully bid for it and immediately christened it “Cartier.” However, the next day Richard Burton bought the stone for Elizabeth Taylor for an undisclosed sum, renaming it the “Taylor-Burton.” It made its debut at a charity ball in Monaco in mid-November where Miss Taylor wore it as a pendant. The famous actress cherished it, but sold it after she divorced Burton and used the $5 million dollars to build a hospital in Botswana.1 point -

How arrogant of man to remove the sacredness of the Day of Atonement and call it and the Sabbath a "shadow" after Jesus' death and Resurrection (Leviticus 23, 26-32 Compared with Colossians 2, 16-17. Particularly after God said the Day of Atonement was an "appointed time" (just like the sabbath) FOR EVER throughout the generations of Israel. Something to consider when pondering this would be asking yourself if God would ever reach a point where it would be insignificant (to God) that you violated the commandment about stealing, lying, cheating or murdering. God said, in speaking of the Sabbath; Isaiah 1, 14: When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. These are ALL ritual / ceremonial "appointed times" on the Israelite Liturgical Calendar - these were NOT native / natural to the people of Israel any more than they would have been native / natural to the Chinese or Greek peoples. They were introduced to Israel by supernatural means exactly as Scripture says they were: See: Ezekiel 20, 12 / Ezekiel 20, 20 / & Nehemiah 9, 14: "YOU [God] made known to THEM [Israel] YOUR holy Sabbath and gave them commands, decrees and laws THROUGH YOUR SERVANT MOSES". Look at the following: Exodus 16, 29: See, for that the Lord hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. The Lord did what there? He gave them [the Israelite's] the Sabbath and I'm going to assume here that you would agree that the Sabbath WAS "holy to the Lord"? Yes? I'm also going to assume that you would agree that the "blowing of the trumpets" on the 1st day of the 7th month was also 'holy to the Lord' (Nehemiah 8)? God "gave" or educated Israel as to these things. Leviticus 20, 26: You are to be holy to me BECAUSE I, THE LORD, AM HOLY, AND I HAVE SET YOU APART FROM THE NATIONS TO BE MY OWN". The Israelite's had DIFFERENT Feast days, different diet, different hair styles and cloths from ANY other nation - God said these distinctive's were a unique SIGN between God and Israel yet you argue that everyone since Adam observed the seventh day Sabbath until they forgot about it???? I have to say this idea does not seem very logical. Understand I'm all for your devotion of the Sabbath, it's really incredible. I would say SDA devotion to the Sabbath is past Catholic or Orthodox devotion to the Mother of God. The last time I went to an SDA Church I would have needed a clicker counter to accurately document every time someone said "Sabbath". Literally everyone I walked past said "Happy Sabbath" to me and I could tell they expected to hear the affirmation back. That was probably 30 or 40 times just walking into the Church. The pre- Church class started where the leader of the class again said "Happy Sabbath" & everyone responds back with the same affirmation, then the guy says prayer and thanks God "for the Sabbath". Eventually everyone goes into the main area and hold the Church service and the Pastor says "Happy Sabbath" and everyone says back at him "Happy Sabbath", then the Pastor says Prayers over the congregation and thanks God for the Sabbath. This experience reminded me of the Japanese culture of bowing to each other or iguana's when they shake the salt out of their mouths and it they keep doing it over and over again. I'm sorry but to be honest this seemed excessive and almost like "programming". I'm not saying that the SDA is a cult or anything like that - I'm not even saying that you shouldn't have a devotion to the Sabbath if that helps you in your Christian walk - more power to you. All I'm saying is that the Catholic Church doesn't want to persecute you for the Sabbath's sake nor is the Church planing to do this. Of all the Christian Churches out there I'd say that the Catholic and Orthodox is most like or similar in nature to how the Jew's worshiped at the time of Christ - in fact Christianity started out as a Jewish offshoot.0 points -

1. The original Sabbath was ceremonial / ritual and Christians were instructed it's purpose was terminated (Colossians 2, 16). 2. Yes, Catholics serve it daily with particular emphasis on the 1st day of the week - just like the Apostles did in the New Testament. 3. Yes, that's all there is to it.0 points
