    Daniel Revisited

TrevorL, Interesting. Not saying your wrong, but I mostly disagree with the stuff about the papacy: I could be wrong; but I believe the identity of the Beast and the Antichrist is yet to be revealed. Antichrist or no I do believe the papacy will have a significant role in the coming apostasy.

    Daniel Revisited

Greetings JoeMo, As stated earlier I believe that the 2300 evening / mornings represent BC 334-333 the overthrow of the Persians by the Greeks and the down-treading of the people of Israel and Jerusalem for 2300 years to AD 1967 when Jerusalem was liberated by the Jews, refer also Luke 21:24. SDAs do not see any significance in the return of the Jews to the Holy Land, but I look for the times of refreshing and restoration at the return of Jesus, not the burning of the earth Acts 3:19-21, Isaiah 2:1-4, Zechariah 14. The 1260 days may have a number of fulfilments, and Daniel 7:25 equates to 1260 days. The little horn of Daniel 7 is the Papacy, and the legislation of Justinian AD 529-533 to the French Revolution AD 1789-83, and the Decree of Phocas AD 608-10 to the loss of temporal power of the Papacy AD 1968-70 are two fulfilments of the 1260 days. Kind regards Trevor

    When Did It Become Acceptable?

indeed this may be, but still this article presented by fulcrum7 is not useful where ever it may be published and read. Unfortunately it does represent the view point of some sad's. Yes, i said SAD's

    Who's fooling who?

I wonder: Will HCH count the teeth in the beast, and who will he say each tooth represents? Will he tell us that the beast has 50 teeth and each tooth represents a Governor of a US State? Perhaps he will relate each tooth to a SDA leader. Or, maybe the teeth could represent people here in this forum--Stan could be the wisdom tooth. Which tooth would I be? On a more serious note; When you begin to understand the Bible by reading the newspaper, there is no end to where you could go. You have no boundaries.

    Who's fooling who?

It would be nice if you did talk more about this, rather than bally-hooing about "predictions" and bruiting them into so called "prophecy." When the Bible talks about prophecy; it always talks about Jesus. Prophecy is "HIS-STORY."

    Who's fooling who?

Like I said, you should have studied a bit more science. I have had the above clipping regarding viruses and colds for more than twenty years. I keep it as a sort of bookmark. It is a bit rude to refer to grown men as boys in that fashion. You would be ballistic if Obama was called a "boy". You are the one who goes on rampages. Truth is not unkind. God does not send diseases. You should also study your Bible more You may need to look in the mirror.

    Daniel Revisited

I knew Elder Cottrell the last few years of his life, out in Loma Linda. He was a frequent speaker and very faithful to the church. While he said that he liked to give the benefit of the doubt towards the Investigative Judgement, he was sympathetic towards Desmond Ford. While I was not too sympathetic towards Ford and had a stronger acceptance of the Investigative Judgement and he was more forensic than I am, we were in agreement with concerns over the growth of fundamentalism in the church, concerns about the Adventist Theological Society, and of course I admire that he wrote that most important chapter in the SDABC "The Role of Israel in Old Testament Prophecy". (In our discussions on Ford I was able to turn to some of his writings against his support.)

    When Did It Become Acceptable?

Let me address another complaint, that I quote below: 1) I attend a large SDA congregation. The pastoral staff sometimes preaches in jeans, and sometimes not. There is a reason for doing so. The pastoral staff is attempting to use the Sabbath services an evangelistic tool to reach the community that is living next door to the church building. In fact, one of the pastors has the specific job description of reaching out to that community. The Sr. pastor wants the person leaving the coffee shop next to the church building to be able to walk into the Sabbath services, wearing jeans and a plaid shirt, and feel welcomed. NOTE: Wake up and smell the roses folks. Some people just do not have "proper" clothing to wear. I once baptized a woman who had been wearing a dress to church that certain of my members found offensive, due to the length of the dress. [NOTE: It actually was not that short.] I informed them that it was the only dress she owned and she would attend church in jeans and a plaid shirt if she wore anything else. [NOTE: They took her shopping and purchased additional dresses for her.] 2) Today is Sabbath. I will wear a suit and a tie to church today. Two weeks ago, I wore jeans and a plaid shirt to church. I did so as part of my witness for Christ. You may not understand. You do not have to understand. If I had been on the platform that day, I would hae worn the jeans and plaid shirt. My wife wore similar attire to church that day. It was part of her witness for Christ. She gave a partial explaination to some people that day. The bottom line is: We ought to be more concerned about what happens on Sabbath morning than on what the pastor is wearing. If you attend a SDA Church than usually never has a community visitor attending, you should worry about that.

    Who's fooling who?

Mt 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, Lu 7:32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

A Critical Look at Black Lives Matter

One of the better articles I have read on the topic of Black Lives Matter. You will understand this movement better after reading it. BLM’s Goals, and Police Brutality The goals of Black Lives Matter can be summarized by 3 points. -Communism, including the redistribution of wealth -Support an LGBTQ+ philosophy, along with the disruption of the “nuclear family structure” -Fight against “racist” police brutality in the United States One of BLM's goals is destroying the family. Leftist government policies have been doing that for decades. Garza, and the folks at Black Lives Matter, can fantasize about getting rid of black fathers all day long, but Reality is no respecter of fantasies. The empirical facts have already confirmed what any thinking, rational person with a brain should have already known; destroying fatherhood will destroy a people. Regarding police shootings: In the case of police-bias in shootings, Harvard economist, Dr. Roland Fryer conducted a study that found no evidence of police bias when it came to shootings. The study did find, however, that there was racial bias in non-lethal use of force, which is very important to acknowledge. On the most extreme use of force — officer-involved shootings — we find no racial differences in either the raw data or when contextual factors are taken into account. These findings, of course, run contrary to the core claims of groups like Black Lives Matter. Keep in mind that several of the officers her organization has accused of racist violence against black people are black police officers. Black Lives Matter claims to be about peace on their website. "We embody and practice justice, liberation, and peace in our engagements with one another." Yet their actions prove otherwise. Their three main founders often quote Assata Shakur, a convicted cop-killer, as one of their main inspirations. A "Christian" organization has gotten involved with BLM: InterVarsity “Christian” Fellowship’s Involvement With Black Lives Matter In 2015, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, a college ministry with “more than 1000 chapters in over 650 college campuses across the United States,” decided to join hands with Black Lives Matter. https://medium.com/christian-intellectual/the-aftermath-of-black-lives-matter-d8360dd16f39

    When Did It Become Acceptable?

The author of that article has listed more than 50, if my count is correct, issues that he implies are present in the SDA Church today. I wonder, how many of those has he investigated to see if they are actually true. I wonder, how many has he studied in an attempt to determine the actual facts of the individual case. I ask this due to the fact that as I have often studied charges against the SDA Church, I have often found them to be based on falsehoods, at least in part. Yes, in some cased, I have found them to be true, and that the SDA denomination took appropriate action. As an example, the following quote is one of the charges that the author makes. Let us look at it to se what is true and what is false. What is true: A SDA School (Walla Walla University) did participate in a sporting event, during a time period that SDAs consider to be the Sabbath. But, that time period was NOT the Sabbath in the geographic location where the sporting event was played. Rather, it was the Sabbath in another part of the world where the person making the charge first lived.
