Daniel Revisited

May I recommend reading Ezekiel in light of the chapter "The Role of Israel in Old Testament prophecy" and Deuteronomy 4 which says that the exile could have been the last days, and that Ezekiel did not see a second coming, but the messiah setting up the kingdom after his resurrection.2 points -

Given that the emergent movement has been building for decades, although not as long within the SDA church, six years is not really that out of date. Neuman quoted numerous authors in her talks and I suspect their books are still being read and quoted. Probably TOP has changed a bit, but I highly doubt that they have changed so much that they have reversed course and are saying the opposite of what they used to promote. So, the fact that the original talks linked to here are six years old does not invalidate them. The following video is only two year old and is a talk given by a Professor Markovic of Andrews University: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6U-HFztQkE Professor Markovic is the target of an internet hate mob started at Andrews University and was previously described here at Adventistan: https://adventistan.com/forums/topic/77294-an-outrage-mob-begins-at-au-and-reaches-the-internet/?tab=comments#comment-805474 You have to wonder what dark forces have decided to target Professor Markovic and why. This is a bit nebulous and specifically how the "untruth" is being said would have been helpful. I think what she spoke is accurate. Much of what she presented was quoted form the emergent writers and she also discussed actual events. Neuman did bring out that even within the NAD leadership, emergent thought is being presented. At the general conference level I have not heard such. Here is Ted Wilson addressing the issue from two years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzlXBP9SXWk1 point -

I took the advice of Photodude and clicked on to one of the video links to a Janet Lundeen Neuman video. It was six years out of date. Changes have been made in TOP presentations, which have been given considerable publicity. I do not accuse either Photodude, or Janet Neuman, of dishonesty. But, I have often found that the critics of TOP make accusations that are inaccurate and often false, at least in part. I have come to the palace where I personally think that some of critics (I am not pointing to anyone mentioned in this post.) have no interest in telling the truth about TOP. I will be the first person to say that the SDA Church in the NAD in not doing what God wants it to do in the end Time prior to the 2nd Advent. I have made such statements directly to SDA leaders. SDA publications such as the Review have published similar comments that I have made. There is a valid place to make critical comments about the SDA Church today. But, just as I am known for making such comments, I am also known for making positive suggestion, to people who want to hear them, as to what the SDA Church today can do to accomplish what God wants it to do. To be clear, I do not accuse either BlessedMan of Photodude of dishonesty. But, I will suggest that both Photodude and BlessedMan get off of their critical chairs and that each begin to become positively involved in some sort of outreach to the people whom God wants us to reach in this End Time. I am. When I am asked by a SDA leader as to what I am personally doing in a positive manner, I can tell them. In addition, I can tell them of positive results.1 point -

Daniel Revisited

It is somewhat pieced together in the times given in Ezekiel 38-39 which describes how the world would have ended had Jesus been accepted, and corresponds to what could have happened with the 70 weeks. We studied it years ago in college, not sure if I can find the notes or not to get more specific. Since the dispensations have kidnapped these chapters, and since we can't find clear applications as we do in Daniel and Revelation we tend to avoid those chapters. We need to read them in light of "The Role of Israel in Old Testament Prophecy" and see these as what could have happened. By analogy they will cycle around to events at the end of the thousand years.1 point -

Again, I can only seriously suggest that anyone tempted to go to TOP review the talks by Janet Lundeen Neuman as she discusses how the TOP and the emergent church are related. If not hers, there others who also look into this movement and what it means in these end times. The talks by Neuman can be found in the link The Emergent Church and the Invasion of Spiritualism and they are well worth the time to listen to them.1 point -

I am very happy to oblige. I can go to the bar down the street here and listen to their kind of "music" for free if i want. "Advertising" Jesus like this is the second problem. How on earth is anyone supposed to know Him in the middle of all that cacaphony? Anyone who doesnt have that kind of coin is the third problem. Its just a poobah session for those with the money to throw away at such useless ventures. There's a reason the first one shut down. This will be no different. But Im sure we can all count on "glowing testimonies." We would do well to pay better attention to the prophets - you know. The real ones, in the Bible. God is being profaned and He is not going to let that go.1 point -

In recent times, more people have wanted to attend a TOP Event than could be allowed to do so. So, BlessedMan, on that basis I commend you for not attending. Your absence opens up a space for someone else to attend. Thank you for personally making it possible for someone else to attend.1 point -

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Joe DiMaggio_2 Joe DiMaggio, also known as Joltin' Joe and the Yankee Clipper, died on March 8, 1999. He was one of the greatest baseball players to grace the field and remains a record-setter. Here are 5 things you didn't know about Joe DiMaggio. His Whole Family Was Talented at Baseball DiMaggio and his two brothers all went into baseball, despite their father's wish they become fishermen. Vince, Joe's older brother, managed to get signed to a professional team in 1932, and when one of the players for that team was injured, Vince recommended Joe as a substitute. Joe DiMaggio excelled as a replacement and was added as a regular player the next season. He played for the team -- the San Francisco Seals -- until he was traded to the Yankees. Songwriters Wrote About Him In 1941, the Les Brown orchestra performed a song titled “Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio” that was written by Ben Homer and Alan Courtney. It was a salute to the popular New York Yankee following his 56-game hitting streak. One memorable song mention is more than most players get, but DiMaggio has two. In their 1968 No. 1 single, “Mrs. Robinson,” Simon and Garfunkel sing: “Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.” In 2014, Paul Simon, who wrote the lyrics, told the New York Post he once ran into DiMaggio in a restaurant and the baseball great asked him, “Why you’d say that? I’m here, everyone knows I’m here.” Simon explained that “I didn’t mean it that way. I meant, where are all these great heroes now?” Simon said DiMaggio was flattered when he understood what Simon meant. He Helped Popularize Drinking Coffee One of Joe DiMaggio’s sponsors in the 1970s was Mr. Coffee, electric drip coffee makers. He worked with them for over 20 years and his advertising spots were extremely successful with customers. Vincent Marotta, the CEO of North American Systems (the manufacturers of Mr. Coffee), joked that the ads were so popular that “millions of kids grew up thinking Joe DiMaggio was a famous appliance salesman.” DiMaggio “made more money on Mr. Coffee in a year than he made playing ball,” Marotta said. An interesting fact about Joe DiMaggio is that he himself had ulcer and almost never drank coffee. He Was the First $100,000 Player. DiMaggio was such a good player that he commanded salaries that were very high for the time, but he really hit the jackpot when he became the first player to command $100,000 for the season. While $100,000 in 1948 dollars is a little over $1 million in 2020 dollars and thus doesn't compare to some of the salaries paid out now (e.g., Mike Trout's $37 million), it was an amazing amount of pay for post-WWII America. Dimaggio’s Famous Dying Words Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe were married in 1954, but the marriage lasted only nine months. By the early 1960s they were back in each other’s lives and DiMaggio planned to ask her to remarry him. After her death in 1962, DiMaggio claimed the body and arranged for her funeral. He had roses sent to her crypt three times a week for 20 years. When DiMaggio died 37 years later in 1999, his attorney, Morris Engelberg, said the baseball great’s final word were:“I finally get to see Marilyn.”1 point -

As to the video first cited by Photodude, and produced by a SDA Church in Florida: * That video was just one of a series of videos of about 4 minutes in length. * All are well scripted and professionally produced. * They address subjects that are important issues within Adventism and/or Christianity in general. An example is the video suggesting that children should not be allowed to grow up to be pastors. * Yes, the manner in which they are addressed will be offensive to some. But they should stimulate thought. * Regardless, There are multiple issues that the SDA denomination faces today that must be addressed and resolved.1 point
