Pope Francis Tells Christians Not to Try to Convert Nonbelievers

My question to Gustave: Is the Breitbart report as to what the Pope said accurate? On a personal basis, when I cite a statement of this type, I like to, if possible, cite a Catholic source. I do not think that Breitbart is a Catholic source.

    Purim

The festival of Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar (late winter/early spring). It commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia from Haman’s plot “to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day.” The story in a nutshell: http://www.chabad.org/holidays/purim/article_cdo/aid/645309/jewish/What-Is-Purim.htm ps:This is one of my favorite Jewish/Hebrew Holidays, So Happy Purim to All Why is the holiday named "Purim"? http://www.chabad.org/holidays/purim/article_cdo/aid/649949/jewish/Why-is-the-holiday-named-Purim.htm

    How Long Is The Test?

I read it as it reads? To me the "Crown of Life," is Eternal Life that the Bible talks about throughout. God keeps promising us that we will be living with him throughout eternity? And that to me leads us to the other question "the test!" To me its how we live our lives, sure there will always be the ups and downs, and so if we pass the test, or maybe we should say the different trials we go through, and that will bring us to the "crown of Life" living with Jesus for eternity? That's the way I see it!!

5 Shocking Facts You Didn't Know About Osama bin Laden On March 10, 1957, terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden was born in Saudi Arabia. Osama bin Laden formed the al-Qaeda network which carried out global strikes against Western interests, culminating in the September 11 terror attacks. Here are shocking 5 facts you didn't know about Osama bin Laden... He Loved Whitney Houston Bin Laden was quoted as saying “Music is the flute of the devil;” however, a woman who was a captive of bin Laden said he adored singer Whitney Houston and spoke about her often. In fact, he would have been willing to add her to his collection of wives. That same woman claims bin Laden “had a paramount desire for Whitney Houston and although he claimed music was evil, he spoke of someday spending vast amounts of money to go to America and try to arrange a meeting with the superstar.“ He was less enthusiastic about her husband Bobby Brown and fantasized about killing him. Bin Laden Kept a Large Collection of Pornography After bin Laden was captured, there was a large collection of porn found in his compound. According to the officials who recovered the porn, it was “modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive.” He Loved Volleyball Standing at 6’4″ and relatively lanky, it’s not much of a surprise to hear that bin Laden could kill on the volleyball court. However, he was apparently so competitive that he never allowed anyone who was better than he was to play on his team. He Had 52 Siblings Osama bin Laden was the 17th out of an estimated 52 children of construction magnate Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden. His father was a Saudi multi-millionaire who owned the biggest construction company in the country. The bin Laden family made $5 billion in the construction industry, of which Osama later inherited around $25–30 million. It is reported that Osama Bin Laden fathered between 20 and 26 children with his wives. He Carried a Stash for a Quick Getaway U.S. authorities discovered 500 Euros and two telephone numbers sewn into the pockets of bin Laden’s robes. This would allow him to abandon his Abottabad hideout and disappear into the Pakistani countryside at a moment’s notice. By constantly being prepared to flee, bin Laden had successfully evaded capture by U.S. forces for ten years. Bin Laden was captured May 2, 2011, and killed by a team of U.S. Navy Seals, ending his reign of terror.

    When Did It Become Acceptable?

These laments for the cultural norms of a past era presuppose that Adventist culture had been perfected back in the 1860s, 70s or 80s. It had not. The church had many doctrinal errors and cultural failings from those days; and many members are working to correct these. Mistakenly looking to the "pioneers" as a source of infallible truth and wisdom would be imprudent.

Pope Francis Tells Christians Not to Try to Convert Nonbelievers

ROME — Pope Francis told Christian high school students this weekend they should respect people of other faiths and not attempt to convert them to Christianity, insisting “we are not living in the times of the crusades.” Asked by one of the students Friday how a Christian should treat people of other faiths or no faith, the pope said that “we are all the same, all children of God” and that true disciples of Jesus do not proselytize. https://www.breitbart.com/faith/2019/12/22/pope-francis-tells-christians-not-to-try-to-convert-nonbelievers/

The One Project Returns February 2020

This is exactly one of the inherited problems of TOP down "programs" such as TOP. Its a program, and it teaches its adherents to presume such "atrocities" about anyone who questions them. While my comments addressed specific aspects of the "program" your comments have taken another, more sordid direction, and made it personal. I have seen this many times. I suppose my first question could be "how do you know so well what I am or am not involved in regarding "reaching people for Jesus?" But, I think, rather, that my first question would be "what on earth reason should I have to even bother making an attempt to defend myself here?" Thats one thing that wont be happening. The prophecy here is that this has been tried before, and all these mysterious "changes" that have supposedly been made are reflective of whats already been done and failed. It will keep failing.

The One Project Returns February 2020

Given that the emergent movement has been building for decades, although not as long within the SDA church, six years is not really that out of date. Neuman quoted numerous authors in her talks and I suspect their books are still being read and quoted. Probably TOP has changed a bit, but I highly doubt that they have changed so much that they have reversed course and are saying the opposite of what they used to promote. So, the fact that the original talks linked to here are six years old does not invalidate them. The following video is only two year old and is a talk given by a Professor Markovic of Andrews University: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6U-HFztQkE Professor Markovic is the target of an internet hate mob started at Andrews University and was previously described here at Adventistan: https://adventistan.com/forums/topic/77294-an-outrage-mob-begins-at-au-and-reaches-the-internet/?tab=comments#comment-805474 You have to wonder what dark forces have decided to target Professor Markovic and why. This is a bit nebulous and specifically how the "untruth" is being said would have been helpful. I think what she spoke is accurate. Much of what she presented was quoted form the emergent writers and she also discussed actual events. Neuman did bring out that even within the NAD leadership, emergent thought is being presented. At the general conference level I have not heard such. Here is Ted Wilson addressing the issue from two years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzlXBP9SXWk
