Ye Shall Receive Power
stinsonmarri reacted to BlessedMan for a topic
This will be a daily post for a little while - from the devotional book "Ye Shall receive Power" Thankfulness There is much needless worrying, much trouble of mind, over things that cannot be helped. The Lord would have His children put their trust fully in Him. Our Lord is a just and righteous God. His children should acknowledge His goodness and His justice in the large and the small things of life. Those who cherish the spirit of worry and complaint are refusing to recognize His guiding hand. Needless anxiety is a foolish thing; and it hinders us from standing in a true position before God. When the Holy Spirit comes into the soul, there will be no desire to complain and murmur because we do not have everything we want; rather, we will thank God from a full heart for the blessings that we have. There is great need of more thankfulness among our workers today; and until they have this spirit they will be unprepared for a place in the kingdom of heaven. There is a mighty work to be done for every one of us. We comprehend but little of what God desires to work out through us. We should seek to realize the breadth of His plans, and profit by every lesson that He [has] tried to teach us. A great deal of mischief is wrought in the imagination of our own hearts and minds when we seek to carry our own way contrary to the law of kindness. Here is where many fail. We do not cultivate a disposition to kindness; we want everything to come in an easy way to ourselves. But the question of greatest importance to each one of us should be not how we can carry our own plans against the plans of others, but how we can have the power to live for Christ every day. Christ came to earth and gave His life that we might have eternal salvation. He wants to encircle each of us with the atmosphere of heaven, that we may give to the world an example that will honor the religion of Christ.--Loma Linda Messages, p. 602.1 point -

Unfortunately, Matthew 24:7,8 describes the whole of human history - there is nothing unique about our day, except that as a percentage of the world population, today we have the fewest number of men engaged in war, the fewest number of people subject to suffering from famine, and pestilences, and our building techniques have rendered us far better protected against earthquake. I still find much value in the Adventist teaching and culture, but I am glad I jettisoned the end-of-the-world/doomsday cult aspects of it from my personal belief system.1 point -

Joe: I was explaining to BlessedMan that it is our character but thru faith. This implied our character has become like YAHSHUA. By beholden HIM we become change. Peter also have to show THE CHARACTER of YAHSHUA in him. When Peter stood up they could see and also hear the truth. But seek ye first HIS Kingdom and RIGHTEOUSNESS; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mat 6:33 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Mat 5:20 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed YAHWEH, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Rom 4:3 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: Rom 4:11 That is the righteousness that the Adams were giving to them when the were created. That righteousness is apart of our character that why change. Peter receive this character in the Garden of Gethsemane after he denied YAHSHUA! It then when he became converted and from that day his character changed more and more until we stop sinning and become seal by THE HOLY SPIRIT. When become converted it is a process of being empowered and strengthen by THE HOLY SPIRIT! We will have power from on HIGH once we are sealed. That is what I was referring to. That we don't desire to do evil as we draw closer to THE RIGHTEOUSNESS of YAHSHUA and we become seal. Blessings!1 point -
Holy Spirit Question
BlessedMan reacted to Kevin H for a topic
There are different levels that answers your question. The Holy Spirit is how God reveals himself to our subjective experience. Thus the Holy Spirit works with every created being in the universe (Of course by the cross Satan and the demons completely hardened their hearts to him and the rest of the universe, except humans, has become welcoming of his work as he sees fit to lead them into a deeper relationship). The Holy Spirit is on one level just with people no matter what their background, whether or not they are even aware of the Bible, and members of all religions including so called atheism. He is always pointing them to reach up to what ever power is out there and to reach out to other people and to be kind to creatures etc. As Paul tells us in Romans 2. The Holy Spirit also helps us in our study, especially Bible study, but all truth comes from God through the Holy Spirit helping students of what ever discipline to find answers to help others. (Please pray for the doctors now looking for how to deal with the corona virus to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit). There there is the level as to what happened in Acts 2, where the disciple's hearts were open to a way the Holy Spirit could work through them to reach out to the world in a special way. Sadly, some people are looking for some sort of special manifestation to give them a feeling of acceptance with God. Satan will take advantage of this. We need to trust God through faith and that the Holy Spirit will use us in what ever ways he sees is needed to the people who are around us. I hope this helps.1 point -

Ye Shall Receive Power

March 17th Harmony Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. Eph_4:3-4. The Holy Spirit will work with the consecrated human instrument; for this is God's purpose. God has opened a door between heaven and earth, which no power can close. He calls upon every human being to be pure, holy, sanctified, in order that the work for this time may be accomplished. When God's people place themselves in proper relation to Him and to one another, there will be a full impartation of the Holy Spirit for the harmonious combination of the whole body. Nothing so manifestly weakens a church as disunion and strife. Nothing so wars against Christ and the truth as this spirit. "By their fruits ye shall know them" (Mat_7:20). "Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom" (Jam_3:11-13). "Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled" (Heb_12:12-15). As long as we are in this world we must be linked with one another. Humanity is interlaced and interwoven with humanity. As Christians we are members one of another. The Lord has made us thus, and when disappointments come, we are not to think the worse of one another. We are individual members of the general body. In helplessness and disappointment we are fighting the battles of life, and the Lord designs us, as His sons and daughters, whom He calls His friends, to help one another. This is to be a part of our practical Christian work.--Signs of the Times, Feb. 7, 1900.1 point -
