    Remote Church

Some of us true believers got together for worship this morning via an app called Zoom. One can set up a 40-minute meeting for free (longer requires a paid subscription). It worked really well! Six of us were "at church". It took a little practice; but we figured out how one person can do the music, another can preach, and others can raise their hands to comment. If any of you remote or lonely folks are looking for some community worship, Zoom worked pretty well!

    COVID-19

The struggle is real! Seems New Yorkers are fleeing their city and people where they are going are getting uneasy. Rhode Islanders are stopping New Yorkers at the border. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-27/rhode-island-police-to-hunt-down-new-yorkers-seeking-refuge People in Apalachia are becoming concerned about the people flooding in. West Virginia was one of the last states to have an active case of Covid. People in Appalachia will be at increased risk of severe illness and death from Covid. Many apparently healthy looking individuals are actually black lungers. And the proportion of people not looking healthy seems to be far higher than the US population in general. https://www.100daysinappalachia.com/2020/03/people-are-fleeing-to-appalachia-to-escape-covid-19-that-needs-to-stop/ Donald J. Trump I am giving consideration to a QUARANTINE of developing “hot spots”, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. A decision will be made, one way or another, shortly. Donald Trump posted the above on FaceBook today. Comments from readers say as far as N. Dakota/Minnesota border are seeing New York license plates around their summer homes. Will be worth watching to see how this all plays out. Many have reported that these New York escapees are not following isolation and are just mingling with the population, and by reasonable thinking, are spreading the disease.

Promise And redeemed you Deuteronomy 7:8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

    COVID-19

We are at war with an invisible enemy. We have been invaded. In WWII, the great generation was asked to sacrifice by leaving their homes and families to go overseas and kill people or be killed or maimed. We have it comparatively easy. We are being asked to fight this war by sitting at home alone on our couches binge-watching TV and talking to people over the phone or FaceBook (or AS). I'd rather be doing that than shooting at others and being shot at.

    Ye Shall Receive Power

Holiness God has from eternity chosen men to be holy. "This is the will of God [concerning you], even your sanctification" (1Th_4:3). The echo of His voice comes to us, ever saying, "Holier, holier still." And ever our answer is to be, "Yes, Lord, holier still." No man receives holiness as a birthright, or as a gift from any other human being. Holiness is the gift of God through Christ. Those who receive the Saviour become sons of God. They are His spiritual children, born again, renewed in righteousness and true holiness. Their minds are changed. With clearer vision they behold eternal realities. They are adopted into God's family, and they become conformed to His likeness, changed by His Spirit from glory to glory. From cherishing supreme love for self, they come to cherish supreme love for God and for Christ. "Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom_5:1). Justification means pardon. It means that the heart, purged from dead works, is prepared to receive the blessing of sanctification. God has told us what we must do to receive this blessing. "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmuring and disputings; that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world" (Php_2:12-15). The love of God, cherished in the heart and revealed in the words and acts, will do more to elevate and ennoble human beings than all else can. In the life of Christ, this love found full and complete expression. On the cross of Christ the Saviour made an atonement for the fallen race. Holiness is the fruit of this sacrifice. It is because He has died for us that we are promised this great gift. And Christ longs to bestow this gift on us. He longs to make us partakers of His nature. He longs to save those who by sin have separated themselves from God. He calls upon them to choose His service, to give themselves wholly into His control, to learn from Him how to do God's will.--Signs of the Times, Dec. 17, 1902.

Breaking News: Pope give last warning to Adventists!

***This is a parody*** Breaking News: Pope give last warning to Adventists! This is a Parody and may be offensive to some. The subtitles have been added and most of the words are not in line with the speakers original intention. The motivation for this video is expose Catholic system and to reveal the truth in a funny way and to show the workings of Satan in the Papacy. I believe that everything must be in line with God's word if it is not then it is a lie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCHBO3T_8aM ***This is a parody*** Don't get your knickers twisted up!

    Ye Shall Receive Power

Godliness Godliness is the fruit of Christian character. If we abide in the Vine, we shall bear the fruits of the Spirit. The life of the Vine will manifest itself through the branches. We must have a close and intimate connection with heaven, if we bear the grace of godliness. Jesus must be a guest in our homes, a member of our households, if we reflect His image and show that we are sons and daughters of the Most High. Religion is a beautiful thing in the home. If the Lord abides with us, we shall feel that we are members of Christ's family in heaven. We shall realize that angels are watching us, and our manners will be gentle and forbearing. We shall be fitting up for an entrance into the courts of heaven, by cultivating courtesy and godliness. Our conversation will be holy, and our thoughts will be upon heavenly things. Enoch walked with God. He honored God in every affair of life. In his home and in his business, he inquired, "Will this be acceptable to the Lord?" And by remembering God, and following His counsel, he was transformed in character, and became a godly man, whose ways pleased the Lord. We are exhorted to add to godliness brotherly kindness. Oh, how much we need to take this step, to add this quality to our characters! In many of our homes there is a hard, combative spirit manifested. Critical words and unkind actions are offensive to God. Dictatorial commands and haughty, overbearing manners are not acceptable to heaven. The reason there are so many differences existing between brethren is that they have failed to add brotherly kindness. We should have that love for others that Christ has had for us. A man is estimated at his true value by the Lord of heaven. If he is unkind in his earthly home, he is unfit for the heavenly home. If he will have his own way, no matter whom it grieves, he would not be content in heaven, unless he could rule there. The love of Christ must control our hearts, and the peace of God will abide in our homes.--Review and Herald, Feb. 21, 1888.

    Trivia

5 Things You Didn't Know About The U.S. Navy_2 On March 27, 1794, President George Washington and Congress authorized the creation of the U.S. Navy. Here are 5 facts you probably did not know about America’s maritime branch of the military... The Navy produced six future presidents during World War II. No president had ever served in the Navy until World War II, when it suddenly turned into a near prerequisite for reaching the White House. John F. Kennedy commanded a motor torpedo boat that was run over by a Japanese destroyer in the Solomon Islands; Lyndon B. Johnson was briefly stationed in New Zealand and Australia despite being a sitting member of Congress; Richard Nixon supervised air cargo operations; Gerald Ford served as an aircraft carrier’s assistant navigator and was nearly swept overboard in a typhoon; Jimmy Carter attended the Naval Academy (and became a submariner after the war); and George H.W. Bush flew 58 combat missions, including one in which he was shot down over the Pacific. In fact, from 1961 to 1993, the only non-Navy man to become president was Ronald Reagan. David Farragut Was the Navy’s First Admiral David Farragut became famous for his quote, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!” Admiral David Farragut entered the U.S. Navy at age 9 and just two years later served in the War of 1812. By the time he was 12, he had risen to the rank of prize master, the officer in charge of captured ships. By the age of 20 he was already an accomplished ship’s officer. Farragut was promoted to Vice-Admiral by President Abraham Lincoln and was made the Navy’s first admiral following the Civil War. The Secretary of the Navy Names The Ships The Secretary of the Navy has been naming the government’s ships since about 1819, and the names are usually chosen from naval history, retirees, sailors and notable members of the public. An interesting bit of trivia is that the ships named after individuals are christened by the individual's oldest female descendent. Only ships commissioned after 1907 use the prefix USS (which stands for "United States Ship") when it was formalized by President Theodore Roosevelt. There Are Only 17 Officers in The Blue Angels Each Year Think you've got what it takes to fly with the Blue Angels? There are only 17 people who voluntarily serve with the Blue Angels each year, making the position quite prestigious. The Chief of Naval Air Training selects “Boss,” the Blue Angels Commanding Officer. Boss must have at least 3,000 tactical jet flight-hours and have commanded a tactical jet squadron. The Commanding Officer flies the Number 1 jet. The Navy Was Disbanded After The Revolutionary War The Navy was actually disbanded after the Revolutionary War, but brought back in 1794 to fight pirates. It was President George Washington, who brought back the Navy via the Naval Act of 1794. Due to threats to American merchant shipping by Barbary pirates from four North African Muslim States in the Mediterranean, it was essential to create a permanent standing U.S. Navy. It’s been that way ever since.

    COVID-19

A group of Nashville studio singers perform an epic cell phone choir NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -- Many people are working from home during the COVID-19 outbreak, but what if your job is as a studio background vocalist? Nashville has a deep talent pool when it comes to singers. Some have sung background for the biggest stars you've heard of, all kinds of records, even performed demo recordings for songs that went on to become a giant smash hit. So if you can't gather in groups larger than ten, if you're supposed to sanitize every surface you can if you go to work, then hundreds of studio performers who live here have no options. They're out of work. https://www.wsmv.com/news/a-group-of-nashville-studio-singers-perform-an-epic-cell/article_2245fbf8-6eb2-11ea-9be3-db6cec04c8f3.html

    COVID-19

ATHENS, Greece — A group of lawyers has appealed to Greece’s highest court against the ban on services in churches and places of worship across the country, imposed last week to fight the coronavirus spread. In a legal action made public Thursday, the four lawyers claim the temporary prohibition is unconstitutional and illegal. The measure was taken March 16 and applies through March 30. The appeal is set to be heard May 5. Greece’s powerful Orthodox Church had initially hesitated to take substantial measures to address the epidemic, and refused to stop the Communion sacrament in which the faithful sip from a common spoon. People are still allowed to visit churches to pray, so long as they keep a 6-foot distance from each other. The faithful are going to sip from a common spoon?! In general, do they think their religion will protect them from catching disease? Pastors and church members die all the time in Appalachia from snake bites in snake handling services. One snake handling church has a wall with pictures of those who died handling snakes. The caption across the pictures reads "O Ye of Little Faith." Stopping a pandemic is not a suppression of religion issue. It is temporary and will end when the pandemic ends. Practice your faith as you would if stuck some place alone or with immediate family. I even see people on Adventist websites claiming that stopping church services to protect people is an unconstitutional suppression of religion. Sad to see that harm to other human beings rates as a nothing to worry about issue. There are texts in Scripture which imply that we are to respect government if it is not in asking us to do wrong.
